The landlord sold the building and the new owner sent letters to all the tenants saying the lease will not be renewed since the building is being sold.

And then we find out that our apartment is being inspected tomorrow.

So I have 90 days to find a new place to live:mad:

You would think the landlord would have told you about it in advance so you could have been prepared

Yeah not 5 f*cking months before the lease ends. I think we are supposed to get the security deposit back so if that happens then it would be as bad. But in the meantime I am trying to save as much as I can between now and March 19th

90 days that isn't very long! I think you will be able to find another place! Prayers and my fingers crossed for you! And yes ,they will have to give you your deposit back! I think it's against the law if they don't I would think? They are the ones making you leave! It's not like you are just up and moving out on your own without notice!

I'm supposed to get something in the mail in regards to the security deposit. Today they came in and inspected all apartments

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best for you Sol. When I hear stuff like this, it makes me grateful I'm in a rent-stabilized apartment. Yeah, landlords can truly be the sc*m of the earth. I'm afraid to have mine in; I think he would make something worse.

Although I'm not from Philly and don't know it well, my understanding is the rents are MUCH more reasonable than NYC. If I had to move, I don't know what I'd be able to find; there's a good chance I'd have to leave NYC.

When the building next to me was knocked down in October I should have known that was not a good thing
