The Post Episodes after Richie were OK , but I liked the show a lot better with Ritchie

I agree that season 11 was probably the best of the post-Richie era, with season 10 being the weakest.

But from 8-9, I thought "Fonzie Gets Shot" was pretty enjoyable.

I don't know what episode was my favorite, but I still enjoyed the show a lot, even after Richie left. I just hope the remaining seasons will be released on DVD.

11 seasons, I left the show way before that.

I stopped watching after Ron Howard left. As I wrote on another thread, the show revolved around Richie. No Richie, no show. I think I may have given it one or two episodes without him but I hated it. I watched the farewell episode. I don't remember that much about it except for Tom Bosley turning to the camera and delivering the final line, which I consider the best farewell in TV history.

I like Mr. C. so I didnt mind that farewell but your right about Richie. The show wasnt the same without him. They were just kind of there. You watch because you watched the previous seasons but you know that the shows with Richie and the shows without him are night and day.

While Season 10 is the worst of the show, the Tom Hanks episode, "A Little Case of Revenge" is my favorite of the entire series. It's hilarious.

Actually, I think the first post-Richie season, season 8, was better than the last Richie season. The show felt rejuvenated a little. I think it was good for the writers to be forced to stretch their wings a little bit and focus more on other characters; the Richie-Fonzie-Ralph-Potsie dynamic had kind of played itself out by that point.

For whatever reason, the show couldn't quite sustain things, though, so season 9 dropped off a bit from season 8, despite there being no real cast changes or anything. And season 10, despite giving Fonzie a real season-long storyline (and it's a real shame there was no proper conclusion to that storyline), suffered from the lack of Joanie and Chachi. The show rebounded in season 11 (not only were Joanie and Chachi back, but I think there were some new writers, no?), and it's probably the best post-Richie year, edging out season 8 by a bit.
