Quite so! I saw some of it when it was in syndication back when I was a boy, and I found it incredibly boring, not to mention too "down-homey" for my taste.

I finally bought all the season's since it's not on any channel I can get. I never liked F-Troop though and think Ken Berry was great in Mama's Family and Mayberry RFD. Just my opinion.

Not me. I like Mama's Family a lot and also enjoyed The Carol Burnett show.

I loved Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In and like it more than the two shows you hate. But for me it's all relative: I am fond of all three shows-Laugh-In first, Mama's Family 2nd, Carol Butnett Show 3rd.

I haven't really watched much Mama's Family but from what I've seen of it, it looks like a good show. I'd try to watch it if MeTV put it on at a better time later at night.

NO!!! I love Mama's family! Glad METV is showing it!!! My husband is really getting into it too! It's on when he comes in from work. He can catch the whole second ep.!! (Maybe he's just happy I'm not drooling over Erik Estrada anymore when he gets in form work )LOL!!! NO! He really finds Mama's family amusing!

Here's another reason why I couldn't watch it: Poor lighting. Just like those 1970s sitcoms, the show also had poor lighting. Hurts my eyes to even look it. Plus that Eunice character makes me want to vomit all over the place. I'd call her an eyesore to look at.

Well, Eunice is supposed to be nutty and overbearing. That is how the character was written!! And Carol Burnett plays crazy characters so well! It's hysterical , her mannerisms and facial expressions!!! And the banter between her and Mama is hilarious !!! I don't know how many episodes you've watched, but you know Eunice isn't in all of them anyway right?

But ,I'm thinking you might like Mama's family when it gets into later seasons. Season 3 brings in some new characters (Bubba and Iola who are really good) and Eunice isn't on anymore!

I admit, Carol Burnett did have SOME funny skits, but the skits generally involved anyone BUT Carol Burnett

I like the show, although I think it got better after the 1st season. I agree the lighting is awful!

I enjoyed the show during the later years but what's really interesting is how they regressed Naomi. She first starts out as a tough-talking, somewhat intelligent woman who has a supermarket checker job. When the series went into syndication, she's a lot dumber and lazier. She also speaks in a much higher, whinier voice. Vint also changed somewhat too when they got rid of Buzz and Sonja (two very boring characters IMHO).

While you're discussing the series please keep Ken Berry in your thoughts & prayers. His son, John, passed away at age 51 during his sleep over the weekend.

i enjoy mama's family it was one show me & my brother liked to watched together after we got home from school!! i never did like the first or second seaons i like the ones with bubba in them!! he was my favorite character on mama's family!! i recently won the whole series of mama's family during contest here AT Sitcoms online for free!! so i got the complete series for free form this website!! just wanted to say thanks to sitcoms online i been enjoying mama's family!!

You rarely hear people say that they hate the Carol Burnett Show. Of course everybody has there own likes and dislikes. The Carol Burnett show "family" sketches were terrific. The show Mama's family started out well while on NBC, but went downhill, once it shifted with new episodes for first run syndication.

I agree. I can't imagine anyone hating Carol Burnett. I thought her show was hysterical.

I was not crazy about Mama's Family sketches as a whole because they became overbearing after awhile but Tim Conway's unrehearsed stories that would crack up the rest of the cast were some of the best moments in TV history.

The skits on "The Carol Burnett Show" that eventually became Mama's Family were great. The reason was that as hilarious as the banter between the cast was, there was always an underlying sadness as reality always won out over Eunice or her husband (what was Harvey Korman's character's name?). That's why Carol never really liked to see Tim or Harvey cracking up during "The Family" segments, like they did in other skits on the show.

Mama's Family never had that "lovable loser" aspect to it. It was all just hayseed slapstick, although Vicki Lawrence was just born to play that part.

I know that, and we all have our own particular likes and dislikes. For example, I could never get into Star Trek; I certainly didn't hate it but it never did anything for me, and I seldom watched it. Same for Lost In Space. Yet many people consider Star Trek to be an iconic show and it has a serious cult following. I just don't get into sci-fi at all, except for the Twilight Zone, which was pure genius. So to each their own I guess.

NBC cancelled Mama's Family after the first season, that is why Eunice isn't on after that. It went into first-run syndication, and that is when Bubba joined the show, but Ken Berry's children went upstairs, and never came down again! :eek:
