ABC is reviving "The $100,000 Pyramid" for a 10-episode primetime run this summer, with Michael Strahan succeeding the late Dick Clark as host.
As noted by Vulture, which broke the news, this will mark the first time "Pyramid" will air as a weekly primetime series; previously, the franchise only ran in daytime, on cable or as an early-evening syndicated show.
"Pyramid" launched in 1973 — then titled "The $10,000 Pyramid" — and went on to spawn seven different versions.
The most recent incarnation aired in 2012 in GSN.

howilu 01-10-2016, 01:26 AM I thinks it's great to see The $100,000 Pyramid back on broadcast TV-and in prime time. Since the original version debuted in 1973, it has aired in daytime, syndication and recently cable under the title The Pyramid but never on any network prime time lineup.
To me, it could mean a bigger audience for the reboot of one of TV's most durable word games and a chance for more viewers to see IMHO the best bonus round of any game show in TV history. ABC will be in The Winner's Circle this summer.
simmytbone 01-10-2016, 02:45 AM Michael Strahan will be the 6th host of this awesome franchise
The others were the late TV Icon Dick Clark, the late Dean of Game Shows Bill Cullen, Former Hollywood Square John Davidson, 70's Teen Idol Donny Osmond and Mike Richards who is now the current Executive Producer of The Price is Right
Mr. Strahan, please make Mr. Clark and Uncle Bill Proud
Edward216 01-10-2016, 03:29 AM Interesting. I'll have to check it out to see how Michael Strahan does. I could swear I read a few years ago that they were trying to bring Pyramid back and they were talking to Conan O'Brien's sidekick Andy Richter about hosting it. I think he'd be all right too, but he certainly would bring a different dynamic to the show.
Ed.
LeeBlue 02-06-2016, 10:40 AM This should be fun -- esp during prime time.
There are not a lot of new shows that I watch in the evening.
Looking forward to the Pyramid and Michael Strahan.
Somebody out there thinks Michael Strahan has an entertainment value I just don't see.

Certainly not me. I don't know what anyone sees in that big dope.

I can see how one would think he's being overexposed.
But, on the flip side, he's exactly what the television industry's looking for. Essentially, a charismatic and modestly attractive black man that's unlikely to rock any boats.

Maybe the television industry is looking for that in their infinite politically correct stupidity but I'm certainly not.

Its revival of "$100,000 Pyramid" paid big dividends for ABC on Sunday night, besting all broadcast-TV comers with 8 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating.
Bookending the Michael Strahan-hosted game show reboot, "Celebrity Family Feud" did 7.8 mil/15, while the Alec Baldwin-hosted "Match Game" premiered to 6.7 mil/1.5.

I didn't expect much considering his previous TV exposure as an NFL analyst, but he carried himself well as a host and did not detract from the enjoyment of this classic game show.
WatcherofOldTV 06-28-2016, 12:54 PM He stinks as a host.
Boring and fake..he tries to be funny and cool but he's not.
Frankly, he doesn't seem very smart.
Coffeecup 07-12-2016, 10:06 AM I think Michael did fine job. What bothers me is the star contestants. Do they do any prep/practice work on this show.?
Martha Stewart only got one answer in one round. The poor way they describe clues. One was Hot dogs. One of the stars tried to show eating a hot dog. She flubs for many seconds. How about saying Hamburgs, or other name for a frank, weiner. I am sure the contestant would have gotten the word of Hot dog. Plus the round of playing for $50.000.00, the judges are a little easy of what the correct answer is.
MRPITT 07-12-2016, 02:06 PM I would have watched this and Match Game, but the presence of Rosie O'Donnell makes it unappealing to me.
icecream 07-12-2016, 06:28 PM I would have watched this and Match Game, but the presence of Rosie O'Donnell makes it unappealing to me.Rosie was just on the pilot, they have different guests each week.
MRPITT 07-13-2016, 10:05 AM She was on the at least the first two episodes of Match Game that was enough for me. I think she will be on more than just the Pilot.

Did you mean hamburgers and wiener?

mets82 07-13-2016, 10:30 PM I thought Strahan did a good job. The show itself stayed true to the original.
Of the 3 ABC Sunday night reboots, Pyramid seems to be the most accepted by the old school purists.
