In the past I have written quite a bit about shows that come on a syndication network here in New Jersey. One fact that I have elaborated on quite a bit is how many "Perry Mason" movies and episodes of the series they show. Well, in the recent past, they have started showing syndicated episodes of "Mamma's Family". Is anyone here familiar with that show? So far, I have watched two episodes since it came on this network. A while back, my brother explained to me what product placement was. You see, a lot of studios make agreements with various companies to work mention of the goods and services that they produce into the script of their show. Throughout history, I have heard everything from Playboy Magazine to Cabbage Patch Dolls mentioned on various shows. This all falls under the category of product placement. On top of this, sometimes, the characters from one show will mention another series that is either on the same network of made by the same company. This is also a form of product placement. Well, the one and only time that I can remember "Gimme a Break!" being mentioned on another show was on "Mamma's Family"! Thelma Harper was with a man and it was near bedtime. He tried to get her to go to bed with him. She felt awkward and looked for a way out. In an attempt to back out of the situation gracefully, she said "It's Saturday Night and I never miss 'Gimme a Break!'"! Very cute indeed!
