"It’s fun! It’s fine!” says Megan Garber. "It asks just enough of its audience, which is to say not very much at all. Superstore is Applebee’s and McDonald’s and Starbucks rendered as audio-visual entertainment: It is comforting and nourishing and unsurprising and, above all, supremely confident in its own tasty mediocrity. It’s about Walmart; in some sense, it also is Walmart.”

Saw the pilot last night! I really enjoyed it, to the point of I'm physically shocked at how much I enjoyed it! It had some actual laugh out loud moments-I haven't actually laughed out loud at a show in quite some time! If you've ever worked in retail, no matter how hellish it is or was you will connect with and relate to it for sure. It's really well put together. When I first heard about it, it got my curiosity right away and I thought "This will either work really well or be dead on arrival". My feeling after seeing that pilot was boy does it ever work and it works extremely well. I'm even more blown away that it's apparently doing VERY well! It's NBC's biggest comedy hit in 6 years!!!  Holy crap! This is exactly what NBC needs right now. Exactly. Shows with really interesting premises and concepts like this-that get you so curious you just have to watch at least the pilot. I'm really happy it looks like it's really taking off for NBC and they seem to finally have at least one certifiable definite hit right now. They really desperately needed this. I'm so pleased with the show it's taken some of the disappointment on the cancellation of Coach away. Somehow everything worked out. This show was one hell of a gamble though. I'm happy for America too, she deserves another hit after Ugly Betty. Looking at the ratings I think it's more than safe, it premiered at the end of November so unless ratings suddenly take a nasty dive it should get renewed.
Welp there's another iTunes season pass from me for this shortly, NBC. You earned it, every penny of it. I'm very hard on more recent shows so for me to praise this show this much that's saying a lot. I'd forgotten all about the pilot until last night and wish I'd seen it sooner!

I'm hoping it becomes a long running series. I think if it was on another network it would have better ratings. Viewers don't tend to to in for sitcoms on NBC anymore.
