I missed it tonight...did they really show it uncut and unedited? And did they show it with the split screen? And did they crunch the credits?

View Full Version : Johhny Carson on Antenna TV treky 01-02-2016, 04:40 AM I missed it tonight...did they really show it uncut and unedited? And did they show it with the split screen? Babalu 01-02-2016, 05:14 PM Can't answer all your questions. They didn't have the full opening, because they can't say, "The Tonight Show..." so they just played the theme with a card that flashed "Johnny Carson" and then the guest stars. I think they cut out some of the band's music when they were returning from commercials. Many of the commercials were for "Best of Carson" videos. One fun thing is that only two guests were listed, but there was a third who didn't get on because they ran long, and Johnny referred to her a couple times during the show. I guess if they leave that in they're not cutting much content. What they used to do on the Tonight Show was if a guest was bumped because they ran out of time they would cut the audio of Ed McMahon saying the person's name during the introductions when the show was broadcast. That happened rather frequently. Johnny didn't like to bring someone out and not give them what he considered a fair amount of time. 1960'sTVfan 01-02-2016, 05:25 PM Can't answer all your questions. I missed the end of the show but I was wondering if that third guest ever made it on because time was starting to run short. icecream 01-04-2016, 02:32 PM Yea, I noticed too the opening was different, not the original one. On Sunday night's show Johnny made references to the band not being available. bgva 01-04-2016, 04:07 PM From episodes I've seen here and there on Youtube, it looks like they kept a lot of footage from the original intro, and made it as close to that as possible. I love that they kept the "More to Come" bumpers. Really weird that NBC made them change the name. BigManMike 01-04-2016, 06:27 PM Do they crunch the credits on Carson? Mr. Television 01-04-2016, 07:21 PM Do they crunch the credits on Carson? The opening credits, they don't. They don't really have end credits. Tubehead 01-05-2016, 09:18 AM i watched it on new years they had eddy murphy but he wasn't on their long enough i was like 2 year old i was born 1981 it was 1982 when they were showing johnny carson on Antenna TV treky 01-06-2016, 02:41 AM you mean New Years night treky 01-06-2016, 02:43 AM Was there a musicians strike in the 70s? On Sunday night's show Johnny made references to the band not being available. yes there was in 74 or 75 I remember. Madness 01-06-2016, 04:20 PM Enjoying it so far but I thought they were going to show them in order? Every time I've watched it's been a different year. Madness 01-06-2016, 10:56 PM No, they're going to organize them into themes. They had a couple New Year's shows from different years, now seem to have some shows with young comedians, including Eddie Murphy and Freddie Prinz. Ahhh ok thanks. That makes sense. treky 01-07-2016, 02:12 AM they're showing the 9o minute ones on weeknights and the 60 minute ones on the weekends. WatcherofOldTV 01-07-2016, 08:29 AM I missed it tonight...did they really show it uncut and unedited? And did they show it with the split screen? And did they crunch the credits? Never cared for him. Always felt he was snobby and had an attitude like, "you're only good if you're on MYYYY showwww"...thumbed his nose down at a lot of people. icecream 01-07-2016, 12:38 PM they're showing the 9o minute ones on weeknights and the 60 minute ones on the weekends. It's the opposite of that, the 60 minute episodes are weeknights and the 90 minute episodes are weekends. WatcherofOldTV 01-07-2016, 02:45 PM It's the opposite of that, the 60 minute episodes are weeknights and the 90 minute episodes are weekends. Less snobbery in 60 minutes, rather than 90. MRPITT 01-07-2016, 06:07 PM Less snobbery in 60 minutes, rather than 90. I love the snobbery! More please. WatcherofOldTV 01-08-2016, 12:56 AM I love the snobbery! More please. You must vote for Trump! treky 01-08-2016, 02:17 AM  MRPITT 01-08-2016, 07:11 PM You must vote for Trump! I watched the show originally as a kid with my Mother who was a single Mom that worked 3 jobs to support us. We were lower/middle class at best far from snobby. Watching it then I never thought of it as a "snobbish"show. All I knew is it was time I look back at fondly as time I spent with my Mother where we laughed together. Time I wish I could relive. I assure you neither I or my Mother considered the bank accounts of the guests. JoshLarson24 01-17-2016, 03:03 PM Do they crunch the credits on Carson? Carson is not crunched. To my knowledge no credits are shown as the show ends. MRPITT 01-17-2016, 04:02 PM Carson is not crunched. To my knowledge no credits are shown as the show ends. They have shown the end credits a couple times. The George Carlin, Flip Wilson Susan St James episode had the end credits and no they were not crunched. |
