I know Wikipedia is not very reliable but here's MeTV's article on Wikipedia:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MeTV

i find this hard to believe considerating that about 95% of what they show isn't available in HD. I mean, I know that when I watch my MeTV affiliate on one of my HDTVs, I sometimes get those black bars but there was a time when I thoguht my affiliate was doing that.

Broadcasting in HD doesn't mean the video in actually HD. Think of it as a question of DVD quality, but the video being transfered from vhs to DVD. Or if an old fim is released on bluray. The source and whether it was restored is what's important.

Over satellite (C-Band), Me-TV broadcasts in 480i on one feed and 720p on the other.

There is an HD feed of MeTV. Not all stations are using yet and only a handful of shows on the schedules are actually in HD.
