View Full Version : Damn K-Mart
Zoneboy 12-31-2015, 09:48 PM This has got to be one of the stupidest places I've ever shopped at. I get good deals there but 2 trips in 2 days for no logical reason is pathetic. Here's what happened....
My girlfriend was wanting a grill pan so we checked the website first. We found one that was indicated as being in stock at the local store. I don't know about you but I define in stock as being on the shelf and ready to purchase. Yesterday, I took her and her mom to the Dr. then went to K-Mart to get the pan & there were none to be found. They had every type of kitchen pan imaginable but not a grill pan. They called someone from the back who told me there were none available but I could order it online and pick it up for free at the store. I got home, went to the website & the order was placed at 5:22pm. I was expecting it to take a few days so I thought no more about it because I was told that I would be notified by E-Mail when it was ready. At 6:11pm that same evening I got the message that it was ready. I went today to get it and I asked the person who waited on me how could it be ready for pick up in less than an hour after placing the order? Her reply was Oh, we have them in stock in the back and when we get an order one of our pickers gets it & brings it to the front for processing. I told her I was just here yesterday and the clown that told me there were none available probably knew the entire time that they were. It's a 30 mile round trip to K-Mart so I wasted time and gas by having to go back the next day when someone could've easily got it from the back while I was there. To make matters even worse, They wanted to see my I.D. before I could get it. There was no logical reason for it. They had my bank & Paypal info, my E-mail address and the rewards card on file which I also had on my keychain. Their logic was that someone could've hacked into my computer, bank account, E-mail & Paypal then placed the order in my name and also stole my driver's license and keychain with the rewards card. I have no issue with showing my I.D. if the situation calls for it but in this case there was none. Rather than argue I did it anyway but told them I was going to let corporate know what happened. I may not get anywhere but at least I can let them know how shoddy their business practices are.

With service like that, it's no wonder they've closed so many of their stores. I hate when a store gives you the run around, makes you not want to shop there anymore.
gidgetgrape 01-02-2016, 12:04 AM I'm sorry that happened to you Zoneboy. I would be angry too! It sounds like they were just too lazy to look for the pan the first time. Corporate probably pays attention to the online orders so they had to look for it then.
OH Nuts! 01-02-2016, 01:18 AM Sorry you had a shi**y experience with them Charles. They're a lame store so I'm not surprised. I've had poor customer service experiences with K Mart as well. Target and Walmart are both 100 times better.
Tubehead 01-03-2016, 09:16 AM me my dad & my mom was going to buy some christmas cards they were only 3 bucks then the main guy tried charging us like $20 bucks!! then my mom said no its not that much money!! then it took forever to get the credit card to go thur!!
Georgia's on my Mind 01-03-2016, 03:03 PM That's annoying. I would never shop there again.
Flying Dutchman 01-03-2016, 03:37 PM It's not just Kmart. Walmart does stupid stuff like that too. I ordered a portable in window Air conditioner on Walmart.com to be delivered to my local store. I paid for it with a debit card and they had 15 days to ship it. I was to be notified when it got there. The day came to go pick it up, but, not only was I not notified, but they didn't even have it there, and didn't even have record of my purchase. I had proof that I did purchase it, and was refunded my money. The funny thing is, they had that AC in stock and could have offered me one of those, but didn't. What a wate of time. I was so angry that I didn't even buy one in stock, i just went to lowes and got one.
isiahthomas 01-13-2016, 03:06 PM I'm surprised Kmart is still in business because there's 2 of them here in Oxon Hill, Maryland and Clinton, Maryland.
icecream 01-13-2016, 04:06 PM My grandma had her purse stolen by a K-Mart employee. Our family doesn't go there anymore.

That's low. Yet they reject people like me with no criminal record, two degrees and high intelligence. A few years ago I applied around Christmas for an overnight stocking job. It's actually not a bad job and usually good pay plus no dealing with customers. I did it 15 years ago and because my experience wasn't recent they rejected me! Retail doesn't want me, they want morons. Years ago I worked at Venture and the same thing happened. People would complain because things were supposed to be there and they weren't. I haven't done much shopping at Kmart and I agree their electronics section including movies and CDs is horrible.
Anyway here's an article about Kmart closings. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/12/list-of-sears-kmart-stores-closing/1#.Vpaz0vkrLct
isiahthomas 01-13-2016, 04:38 PM I used to be a overnight stocker at Target and Walmart and i got fired from there. I'm glad i left those jobs because being a overnight stocker is hard. My boss at Walmart was a jerk and i hated him. I'll never work overnight again because that's a terrible shift. Most of my jobs have been first shift.
Hawkee 08-29-2016, 02:48 AM I have two Kmart stores near me and we used to have four Kmart's but sadly the one closest to us got transformed into a Walmart and there's also another Kmart store that's twenty miles away from me. But at Kmart we always seem to have troubles mainly when Mom and I have brought towels and bedding. Recently we tried to buy some kitchen curtains and a tablecloth for Thanksgiving and we had found the kitchen curtains in the clearance section with a clearance tag on them and so we went to the price scanner to price check them and they were the correct price but the trouble began when we went to buy the curtains the Kmart clerk told Mom and I that the curtains were not on clearance but that somebody had put a clearance tag on them and we ended up not buying the curtains. Another habit that Kmart has that annoys me is that anytime you try to price check an item you rarely find a price scanner that works and it seems that Kmart always has broken price scanners and you have to walk the entire store to find a working price scanner
But I still love Kmart and find great deals there whenever I can

I did the same thing at Walmart. I hated it. Needless to say, it didn't last long at all.

MikeLutton 08-30-2016, 11:25 PM I found out they need a id to use with your credit card now to purchase stuff but not for debit does that make sensee

Credit requires a signature which anyone can do. Debit requires a pin number and it's unlikely anyone other than cardholder would know it so that may be why they don't require I.D.
I do the shopping for family members that are sometimes unable to go themselves due to health issues and use their debit cards. I've never once been asked for I.D.
