It's about time. Now that Growing Pains will be finished in January, hopefully Warner Archive will get on the ball with these Family Matters DVDs and get them all out soon.

I was just coming here to post this news! You beat me to it...

This announcement is an awesome Christmas gift! I'm so thrilled about them finally moving this series forward on DVD and I'm even more thrilled that it's going to the Warner Archive because they seem to get releases out quicker. Hopefully they'll have the remaining seasons out on DVD in about 2 years.

In other words... Merry Christmas tlc38tlc38. ;)

I own all the episodes on Amazon Instant Video but I will still be purchasing this on DVD as I'm still a TV on DVD collector at heart.

Yes, a very Merry Christmas!

Now, if only Warner Archive would get on the ball with more "Alice" and "Perfect Strangers"!

Yes and "Chico and the Man" as well. Which as it stands is my new number one most requested TV show on DVD!

I also would love to own a complete series set for "Chico" but my #1 most requested TV show on DVD (that hasn't had any season releases) is "Empty Nest" and my #1 show that has had season releases (but never completed) is "Green Acres".

Too bad the releases aren't actual DVDs. I don't like using digital stuff, so it looks like I'll have to wait for the DVDs.

With the release date being February 16, shouldn't this already be up for preorder on WB Shop or amazon?

It's up for preorder on amazon: http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Family-Matters-Season-5/21951

I'm waiting to order it from wbshop.com since they usually issue pressed discs to start with.

It might not be up yet because there's still no cover art. It was that way last month with Growing Pains, but once they announced the cover art, they added it.

Cover art: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Family-Matters-Season-5/21965

I thinks it outright rude that Urkel's arm is completely covering up Waldo's face.

I just got my copy ordered through WBshop.com! Feb 16 is so close but so far away!

I really hope they fix the cover art. I hate that Urkel's arm is completely covering Waldo. It looks so unprofessionally done. Bad photoshop.

Lorimar Television

Yeah that cover is awful. It makes season ones cover look like a work of art. Urkel being shown twice when they usually photoshop him out is lazy too. I'm glad I got all the seasons I wanted already.

I sent WBshop.com an email about Urkel's arm covering up Waldo's face and I got this response:

Thank you for contacting WB Shop. Thank you for your concern and I have passed this information along to the warehouse and website crew to be corrected.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Original message I sent:
Please fix the cover art for the new 5th season release of "Family Matters". Steve Urkel's arm is completely covering up Waldo's face. This looks tacky and very unprofessional.

It may or May not help any but I had to give it a try.

I'm not sure why, but I have a strange feeling that this set will have many (if not all) syndicated episodes.

You should be glad Warner Brothers are even releasing more seasons. I don't know why you people are making such a big a** deal over cover art.

Aren't they uncut on itunes though? Would they really make that mistake again after having to reprint and correct season 4?

Yeah, and plus I thought shows like these had eps 21-22 minutes anyway. And those would be uncut.

The cover art won't stop me from buying this release but I just think it's downright rude for them to put Steve's HUGE arm completely over Waldo's face. Looks like bad photoshop.

Thanks for the pictures! Weird that the logo has the red background like season 1, even though it showed a purple logo like season 3 in all the press photos. Tell us about the DVD menus like if it has the season 5 end theme playing. If you could get a pic of it that would be great.

I went looking for it at my local Wal-Mart today. I didn't find it. I just now looked for it here (http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=%22Family%20Matters%22) at the store's website. It isn't there either. :( :( :(

:) Episode 1 "Hell Toupee" runs 22:27. "It Didn't Happen One Night" runs 22:55. These seem to be uncut.

Picture quality looks good to me--- About the same as seasons 1-4.

Main menu plays no music (which I kind of like).

There is a play all feature.

I wonder why Warner Archive releases are so expensive when they are just bare bones sets with the episodes and nothing else and don't even include subtitles. This reminds me of the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show set I got from them about 3 years ago and the menu was similar to this and the set cost $25, yet the show only had 18 episodes. I wish they would lower their prices and include subtitles, but nevertheless, I will still buy this because I love the show and I want the rest of the show released.

Guys, were subtitles included on each seasons (1~5) DVDs right?

Subtitles were on 1-4, but I don't think they're on 5 or 6 unfortunately. I don't think MOD Warner Archive release have subtitles. I wish they did.

Hope you don't mind me posting in an old thread, but I've been watching season 5 on HULU and in the first episode, "Hell Toupee", there is a Montage of Carl trying on different wigs.
However, whenever there is a transition shot using an effect (i.e. a swirling dissolve or a wipe) the image quality suddenly changes to something akin to a camera filming the image off a screen.

I'm assuming the DVD compilers possibly worked from first generation footage to achieve high quality transfers. But that also implies that they didn't have some of the finished effects shots so they had to pull some from a higher generation source, but could they have cleaned them up a little better than that?

Is it like this in the dvd set as well?

tlc38tlc38
05-22-2018, 03:47 PM
^Yes, the picture looks funny on the DVD set during that scene. Not sure why. Maybe bad film.
