Why would i?

And he made it clear in the episode, JJ may have been a nice boy but he lives in the projects and he didn't want his daughter in that environment. Anything could have happened while she was in the projects like getting beat up by a ugly girl because of jealousy or another dude trying to get with her

So if Clarrisa father worked hard to have her in a nice environment while the hell would he want her dating a boy in the projects?

I have to admit that it was hard to root against Clarissa's parents here. I mean, yes, we the audience all know JJ and he seems likable enough HOWEVER would anyone who'd worked to give their kids opportunities they'd never had TRULY have wanted them to date someone with no real prospects- and whom the mere going-and-forth between homes would put one's child at extra risk?

The BIGGEST irony of that episode is that after ALL that guilt-tripping on the Evanses parts against Clarissa's parents, she and JJ split in no time flat and neither JJ or his parents ever said WHY nor was she ever referred to again.

And it was so much about JJ it was where he was living that would have put their daughter's life at risk

My issue with Clarissa's parents wasn't so much their worry about their daughter being in a dangerous environment. My issue was the lens through which they looked down on the people in the environment- an environment they themselves were born and raised in. Aside from their so-called safety concern for their daughter, I did not like the negative expression on their face of possibly getting their clothes "contaminated" when entering the Evans' apartment. That had nothing to do with the safety of their daughter. I took issue with their misguided belief that folks from the projects were doomed to live horrible lives unfitting of humanity, even if they are were well-spoken, talented and/or caring people capable of loving others.

Aside from all that, had I been Clarissa's Dad, I would have been highly disappointed that she dated someone as ugly as JJ. Sorry, I just had to say that. Couldn't resist.
