One thing that I established on this board a long time ago is that my favorite episode of the whole series is "Katie Steals Julie's Jock". The main thing about this episode that did it for me was the site of Julie in her designer boots. I thought she was adorable! I have posted many threads about chicks from other series and movies who I thought looked almost as good in their boots as Julie did in hers. Less than a month ago, I started one called "Almost as Good". This thread concentrated on an episode of "Friends" in which the character of Monica wore a pair of boots that I thought she looked almost as good as Julie in. In fact, throughout the run of the series, all three of the main female characters wore attractive boots at one point or another. Well, last night I was flipping through the channels and there was an episode titled "The One with Monica's Boots"! This episode started with Monica having seen a pair of boots in a store that she knew she had to have. She bought them even though they cost more than a months rent! She tried to rationalize that it was a good investment because they went with the vast majority of her cloths and her husband (Chandler) would get to drool over her in the same way that I drooled over Julie. However, once she started wearing them, they hurt her feet like nobody's business! While walking home from an office party, she experienced more pain than she could handle. She had no choice but to take her boots off and climb onto Chandler's back. He then carried her home piggy back style. On the one hand, this episode was similar to "Katie Steals Julie's Jock" in that it had to do with a babe who wore boots. However, in another way, it was a little bit like the third-season episode "Samantha's Protest". In this episode, Katie made a complete fool out of herself to get the handsome boy from the protest to ask her out. In the end she got her bubble burst and had every reason in the world to feel like a jerk. In other words all of the time and effort that she invested went down the drain at the end. Monica invested money that she could not afford on a pair of boots. Just like Katie's time and effort, Monica money also went down the drain. I guess that you could say that the best advice that you could give both Monica and Katie is live and learn!
