is about the only actor I can think of who could make the Julie falls in love with a middle aged man when she is only 17 arc seem not so creepy.

But still...

Creepy.:p

(Starting a new thread about a topic that has probably been discussed to death here)

Did anybody else see the resemblance both vocally and physically between him and Mark Royer?:)

OMG! LOL!

Yes, even 38 years after the show first aired and with Jim being long gone from this world, I still find him attractive.

BTW, Ann can be a real jerk sometimes but I was with her on this one. I don't believe in slapping but if some man that age tried to start something with my barely legal daughter, there would be Hell to pay!

Do you think Paul and Julie actually slept together?

-I can relate, as there's someone on the show I may have mentioned once or twice, the difference of course being they're alive and cooking on the Food Network.

-As for P & J, no so far, as the ep ending Part 2 kiss was their first, right? If I watch parts 3 and 4 tonight I'll see what I think.

Mackenzie Phillips was given a four part story arc to begin seasons 2 and 3. There must have been some specific reason for that. She was a good actress on this show, too bad she spiraled into drug addiction. It was during the 3rd season when she started having problems and absent from some episodes.

She didn't look bad alongside with Jim Hutton, he looked his age, early 40's, but she looked older than 17, she looked like she was about 25 or so.

The sad thing is, Jim Hutton passed away less than two years after these episodes aired, he was just 45 years old. Information on the internet says he had liver cancer. I wonder if he had a drinking problem? Heavy consumption of alcohol is known to create liver damage.

opus, Val and Tim's singing...no comment from me except for  As my dear mother might say in this situation, "Well, they did their best!"

I agree, retroTVfan4ever that Mack and Jim didn't look bad together especially in that restaurant scene where they were pretending to be Italian. That was cute but the age difference is just too much, as she barely graduated high school!

Ironically I think Julie might have had more premarital sexual relations than Paul who seemed refreshingly shy and old fashioned in that area. So to answer my own previous question, no I don't think they consummated their relationship.

I tweeted Mack last night about what it was like to work with Jim Hutton, no response yet.

Incidentally, I am not usually one to find Julie terribly attractive but how hot did Julie look in her tennis outfit? ;) You guys let me know what you think!:D

All in all an interesting 4 parter with Ed providing the voice of reason. I wish they brought him on the show more.

Yea, Julie did look hot in the tennis outfit. Showed off her shape and curves quite nicely! :D

Bonnie Franklin was cute and good looking on this show, until they had to chop her hair and cut it short. She was cuter and better looking during the first three seasons when she had the longer hairstyle.

I really liked her hair in the Mr. Quigley episode they showed last night. That was a great look for her with the extra length and the feathered sides.

My least favorite look was the one where Ann consorts with that deceptive and sniveling married man who used her to get out of his marriage. It looked like Bonnie Franklin cut it herself.

Double reason bump-

1) I was thinking that I didn't really know him (I know his kids work better), so I "imdb-ed" him, and unless I've at some point seen his Twilight Zone episode, this is the only place I've seen him.

2) now that Bonnie is posting again, trying to get her attention

Don't worry I'm here!!! I'm back! I was out of town at my son's house last week! :) I missed this four parter. I didn't see ODAAT at all. He doesn't have Antenna TV, and I doubt they would want to watch ODAAT anyway!! :D They have METV and I did get to watch CHIPS sometimes!;) (I turned my Son's Girlfriend on to Ponch! She said he was cute)! :D They like Modern Family, Goldbergs, The middle, Big bang theory, stuff like that!

I remember I liked Julie and the older man. I didn't find it terribly creepy either. Mainly because they were working together, and it just happened. They had chemistry and went with the attraction. Wasn't like the guy was trying to scope out young girls or something!;) Jim Hutton was OK looking, not really my cup of tea. But not bad! He was kind of on the same type as Mark Royer, I never thought about it but now that you mention it! I agree! ;) Wow, I didn't know the actor died shortly after that! :(

Hmmm. Did he and Julie sleep together? Good question! Well, it was 1977 not 1957! Would they really fall so hard in love and want to get married if they never even slept together? Kind of sweet and old fashioned, yes. :) But how realistic would that really be? :) But than Barbara and Mark waited for their wedding night, so IDK? I will have to think about it more! ;)

Did you all notice that Dwayne's turtle was fake?

They couldn't have afforded to "hire" an actual turtle?

OMG ,no I didn't notice when I saw it before! If they happen to keep ODAAT on for another round I will look out for it!!! ;)

Speaking of turtles, tonight was the two parter "Barbara's friend" with Melanie , the troubled girl who latched on to Barbara ! And Cliff thought Melanie was Barbara's pet turtle!:D

Cycled around again, if anyone wants to talk about him/the episodes.

I enjoy the soapiness of this arc.

But the premise of somebody that young with a 43 year old man is still creepy as heck. But it seems like the good doc kept his stethoscope in his pants during their romance so he gets points there for propriety.

Dr. Phil is grilling Nick Gordon for his role in Bobbi Kristina's demise at the same time so I will be going back and forth.
