View Full Version : ODAAT never had a Thanksgiving ep.!!
Bonniegirl 11-25-2015, 08:43 PM I wonder why!!!! They could have some drama going on at Thanksgiving!! Like Ed wanting the girls to spend Thanksgiving with him. And Ann feeling lonely! Or them inviting Schneider over and him overhearing that they feel sorry for him because he has no family! And he doesn't want to be a burden ,and pretends he has "other plans" And they find out he doesn't and he is downstairs alone eating a can of soup! :(
Or in a later season. Barbara could be cooking her first Thanks giving meal and Max helping her in the kitchen wearing that cute apron he wore before! :D ;)
They had two Christmas eps. but no Thanksgiving!
Bonniegirl 08-14-2016, 02:35 AM Just seeing if anyone cares any more about this topic than they did before when I made this thread!
Nordy 08-14-2016, 03:20 AM I can see the girls making a turkey dinner, the guys watching football, Max going between the games and the kitchen. They would be one big happy family. Here's a kicker Schneider would load his tool belt with turkey basters and meat thermometers.
Bonniegirl 08-14-2016, 03:32 AM Yeah, I really think they could have made a really good Thanksgiving ep.;) Well I.'m off to bed with visions of Mike, Max,Clete,Kaptain Kool,Jay kavell, and Vinnie Fazio dancing in my head! :D Goodnight Nordy TTYL!!!
Nordy 08-14-2016, 03:42 AM Goodnight Bonnie...Valerie's going to be dancing in my head soon enough too =)
Anna Karenina 08-15-2016, 09:55 PM Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends seemed to have a Turkey Day episode every year.
I loved it when the huge turkey got stuck on Joey's head and then on Monica's.

Well, at least they had some Christmas eps. And a couple of New Year eps. too. Guess not every sitcom has a Thanksgiving ep. I don't think the Jeffersons had a Thanksgiving ep. either.

Or a proper farewell episode either.
Eleven years on the air and they find out that their still highly rated show has been canceled in the newspaper. :(

Isabel Sanford said that she found out from her sister and Franklin Cover said that he found out when he was watching Entertainment Tonight.

Hey DJM77!
Yeah, I thought that was pretty inconsiderate of the network to do that to the cast and crew which made them so much money over those eleven seasons...:(

I agree. It was pretty crummy. :(

ODAAT went out voluntarily but I thought the finale should have been a 2 parter, it was too rushed and crammed too much story into 22 minutes.
There were good moments for sure but it seemed kind of harsh (is that the right word?) of Ann to leave her new granddaughter, aging mother and troubled daughter so cavalierly behind like that.
Also Francine got like 2 weeks notice to buy her out and find somebody to fill her position.
That didn't ring true for me. They should have drawn the plot out more, let us see the English firm that was intrigued by her and show them offering her the position. They didn't play out all the beats.
Bonniegirl 11-11-2016, 03:43 PM Bump:
Look at the nice dinner Barbara and Grandma made! :happyface Ann, Sam and Schneider are on their way over as well as Max's special guest, his new girlfriend ,the blonde lady he met at the duck pond!:) :ducky:

faraj 11-11-2016, 04:54 PM At least it has some Christmas and New Year's eps.
faraj 11-14-2016, 04:30 AM Yeah, lots of TV sitcoms have at least 1 Thanksgiving ep, but there are also several TV shows without a Thanksgiving ep. For example, the Jeffersons never had a Thanksgiving ep. either.

I think all sitcoms that feature families should have at least one Thanksgiving ep. if it's a show that ran a long time like ODAAT and the Jefferson's! ;)
Torgo 11-14-2016, 10:00 AM Yeah, Leave It To Beaver didn't have one. They also didn't have a Halloween episode.

Yes, me too.
I can imagine a tenth season Thanksgiving episode with Ann and Sam coming to visit and Julie's awkward exchange breaking bread with Max and the beautiful blonde lady from the duck pond helping to raise her child. ;)

How about if Julie just showed up at Thanksgiving RIGHT when they (including Duck pond lady) were sitting down to dinner! Julie coming back with the intent of getting back with Max and Annie, not knowing he moved on and was now in love with the beautiful "Duck pond blondie"!

Great example. And it doesn't even have a Christmas ep. either.
