View Full Version : Looks like TNN will air 170 and 171 instead of 70 and 76.

Thursday, April 11th - 12:30PM
Episode 070 - The Ancestors - The Drummonds inherit land in Harlem. will be skipped.
Episode 170 will air instead.
I think Nick at Nite skipped episode 70 too.

Tuesday, April 16th - 12:30PM
Episode 076 - First Day Blues - New student Willis finds trouble in high school. will be skipped.
Episode 171 will air instead.
Nick at Nite skipped episode 76 too, but TV Land aired it in the 48 hour Weekend Marathon.

It's interesting because Trouble skipped episode 70 too and I think it must be because there are some racist words used in the episode that they obviously don't think are acceptble to show.

The whole plot of the episode is to do with race.

Episode 76 was shown once on Trouble but they haven't shown it since either- they could have had complaints.
Willis smokes drugs in it, although you don't actually see him doing it you see the effect.

It sort of is N@N. TNN is owned by Viacom, which owns Nick at Nite. Why do you think TNN is showing DS, since they are sister stations.

Regarding controversial episodes. Couldn't TNN or whoever run a disclaimer that the following episode was filmed 20 years ago and contains words/material that may be offensive or not politically correct? It seems that it would be better than censorship and would demonstrate a degree of responsibility toward the public. Just my $1.75.

They better not skip over the bicycle man, that 's the one episode iv'e wanted to see for years, and nobody ever plays it. I think we all should email TNN and ask them to stop skipping over certain episodes.

the bicycle man aired on the tv land marathon a few months ago and will probably be skipped on tnn... as someone mentioned before, that airing that tv land of the bicycle man, was a once in awhile thing and won't be aired again for years..

A decent suggestion.

For I was watching All In The Family last night and I heard Edith use the word Coon as in:

Archie: Them black beauties (referring to African Americans) bla bla bla.

And Edith our Lovely dingbat said:

Edith: Its nicer than when Archie used to call them coons:D:eek::D

Now then:

Lets do an analysis of this situation:

The question is: What does TNN, Viacom, etc get out of NOT airing the Controversy?

A government grant perhaps (Diff'rent Strokes & Facts of Life, which had this same problem, carry the G Rating).

A sense of pride in a job "well done"

A lack of Oxygen to the brain?

I'll go with the last one.

Amen.

...Remembering of course a line from Brady Bunch in "Bobby's Hero" in which Bobby's line about Wilt Chamberlain "being 7 FT 2 AND BLACK!!!" was cut down... Guess which part???

Probably because the Networks in ? consider Bicycle Man to be "Manna From Heaven" that is to be shown when their "GOD" gets the Anoiting...in other words...when the Network needs a Ratings Boost or when the President of Viacom's Son Asks for it...or something like that.

Incidentally, did you know that the TV Networks get to watch "Raw Feeds" of shows w/out the bugs, the brands, somebody talking over the credits, etc.

For if the people at TNN were forced to watch THE DEADLY BLACK BAR portion instead of the clean feeds, they'd go Screaming for a Good Feed. And of course they'd get one too!

The above 2 Paragraphs, I figure in part, are why TV People in the Networks do not listen to the complaints regarding the bugs, the voiceovers, etc etc etc.

And the people said:

Amen.

Amen.
