Greg Grunberg To Play the "Too-Cool" Cousin on "Life in Pieces"

Greg Grunberg has played several well-mannered characters in the past, but on CBS’ new comedy "Life in Pieces", he’s taking a less wholesome turn.

The TV veteran will guest star on an upcoming episode as Mikey, the nephew of Joan (Dianne Wiest) and a former hero to Greg (Colin Hanks) and Matt (Thomas Sadoski). Mikey was always “too cool” and ultimately a poor role model, and Joan is worried his presence will drag the family into his craziness.

Greg Grunberg‘s cousin Mikey is back, and he’s heartbroken.

In EW’s exclusive clip from Thursday’s episode of "Life in Pieces", John (James Brolin) and Joan (Dianne Wiest) get a surprise houseguest when their jilted nephew crashes on the couch. Now it’s their mission to get him out.



As shown in the footage, Mikey’s girlfriend dumped him, even though they’ve been through so much together (including the “car accident, the dog attack” and “both sex changes”). Thankfully, Joan has the perfect love interest for him. “She’s sweet and she’s kind and she’s pretty,” she says. But, most importantly, her standards are very low.

“All I have to do is change his appearance completely and ply them with alcohol. I hear wedding bells,” Joan says.



Elsewhere in the episode, titled 'Favorite Vision Miguel Matchmaker', Greg (Colin Hanks) starts unraveling when Lark only wants to held by his wife, Matt (Thomas Sadoski) attempts to get the blessing of Colleen’s (Angelique Cabral) father for their wedding, and Heather (Betsy Brandt) refuses to get reading glasses.
