View Full Version : What are some tv shows that make you "feel" good when watching them?

Adamantium 11-15-2015, 06:30 PM I'm a weird guy, so shows that feature weird characters who form unlikely families are warm and cozy to me. That's one of the reasons I love "Community" so much. Those are characters who don't seem to have any friends outside of their little group. They all love each other and accept one another flaws and all. They are each eccentric and have trouble functioning in "the real world." Also the friendship of Troy and Abed is a nice one. Abed was always a loner because he couldn't connect to people. Troy was the star football player in high school and always acted cool. But once they met and became friends, Troy threw away his cool image and was just himself (a goofy, lovable man-child). And Abed was able to have a best friend who accepted him for who he was for the first time.
Another show is "NewsRadio." Those oddballs running that radio station fills me with joy. That's another case of these characters being outcasts except to one another. They belong together, even if they get on each other's nerves from time to time.
"Mister Rogers Neighborhood" - When I was in high school, I was quite depressed. I'd get home, turn on PBS and there was Mister Rogers being comforting and loving. It would make me feel better and also less stressed out about life. I still watch the show from time to time (thanks to Amazon Prime). He was such a good man. I'm not too fond of the Make-Believe segments but the rest is great.
Bonniegirl 11-15-2015, 06:41 PM Barney Miller
The Courtship of Eddie's Father
Sanford and Son (Redd Foxx always makes me laugh, cheering me up)
That Girl (I love Ann Marie's wardrobe)
Love American Style (Wish later seasons of this show would be released on DVD)
CHiPs (Ponch cracks me up, and he is sexy too, and I love Jon Baker)
Two that you mentioned!!! Fred Sanford could make me laugh on the worst saddest day of my life!!! And Chips, seeing Ponch always cheers me up. He IS funny and sexy!! I Love to see him dancing , kissing girls, rescuing people, delivering babies! He's wonderful! ;) :)
Also I will add Petticoat Junction ,a sweet, funny heartwarming show ( with eye candy Steve too);) And Green Acres, same as with Sanford and Son, I could be sadder than sad and Green Acres will make me laugh!
Bonniegirl 11-15-2015, 07:47 PM When I am depressed, just watching 30 minutes of Fred Sanford, cheers me up.
Especially when he and Aunt Esther are going at it!!! :D They were a perfect comedy duo!;) :D
tlc38tlc38 11-15-2015, 07:47 PM I agree with Adamantium about "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood". I've always loved Fred Rogers. He was such a caring soul. It's a shame that PBS doesn't air the show anymore.

LUNCH 11-20-2015, 03:41 PM Three's Company,Dobie Gillis,The Bob Newhart Show. For some reason Mister Ed, such a silly(but in a good way) show. There's a lot of more. Generally I consider a lot of classic TV sitcoms made during the 1950s-mid 1980s to be Feel Good TV Shows. Some dramas and other types of TV programs from that time period also fall into that category.. Nice relaxing entertainment.
