Tomorrow night, Saturday November 7, 2015, HLN will air 4 new episodes of Forensic Files that are new to the network: The episode titles are:

"Elephant Tracks"
"A Vow Of Silence"
"Tooth Or Consequences"
"A Bag Of Evidence"

Not sure if this will become a regular thing, but I will keep my eyes open and report any additional new-to-HLN episodes on this thread if I learn of anything.

As long as the listings don't change, this Saturday they're showing "Sniffing Revenge," "Sleight of Hand," "House Call" and "Marathon Man." Then the following Saturday, "Sign Here" and "Shadow of a Doubt." It's awesome they're finally showing some of these. There's a few in there I have yet to see.

whoa baby! Another new 4 pack of episodes this coming Saturday, including the very first episode ever, way back from 1996. It's "The Disapperance of Helle Crafts", a truly frightening one if you've never heard of it. Not to mention these episodes:

In Harm's Way
Planted Evidence
Southside Strangler

Can't wait for this batch!!

While it's cool and all they're airing these episodes, the truth is they've been available in one form another in recent years, whether it's the DVD sets or when they aired on Lifetime or TruTV. Almost everything has been re-broadcasted in the past 6 years with the exception of the mad cow episode "Foreign Body" and the 5 one-hour episodes. I really, really hope HLN gets their act together and airs those.

HLN has been pretty good at airing different episodes, literally hundreds to date. I know the series popped up recently on ID under the name "Cause Of Death" for a brief period, but stopped airing. I haven't seen episodes on TruTV in years as they changed their line-up, moved to a different channel number and rebranded itself, removing all true crime programming including "The Investigators". I've never known Lifetime to air episodes in the recent past.

Lifetime aired 2 episodes back to back in the afternoon in the fall of 2011. They aired a bunch of old and rare episodes (at the time, anyways). It used the Medical Detectives name and had a really weird intro. I've attached a screenshot of one:

5353, I know someone that has every episode except "Foreign Body" and "The Sniper's Trail". If you want to trade with this person, I think he'd like to hear from you. I've done a few dealings with him. lmk. I guess that "Foreign Body" must be extremely rare. I've helped him fill in most of the missing holes in his collection.

Yeah, pass my info along. That'd be cool. I do have "The Sniper's Trail." I wonder if "Foreign Body" was pulled from circulation.

5353, do you happen to know which 5 episode are the hour-long ones? i never knew that. The only other true crime show I know that had a change in length was American Justice. It was a half-hour show way back in the early 90's. This format was quickly ditched for the hour-long one we all know and love today, that lasted up until the late 2000's I believe.

If they're back to airing ones from the first few seasons I hope Foreign Body is coming up.

The hour long episodes I know of are:
-Crime Seen: Eight Men Out (about the Norfolk 8)
-The Lindbergh Baby Kidnapping: Investigation Reopened
-JFK assassination
-Forensic science special with Mariska Hargitay hosting

Not sure about the 5th one, though.

Yeah i hope they actually follow through with it and air the episode. On some sites the placeholder for that hour shows the Title as "Payback" followed by a description of the episode Deadly Curve.:(

I only have a minute to post, but it's the story of Bobby Kent's murder:

I'll have to check it out when I get home. Pretty excited!

Why doesn't the official Forensic Files website list the hour-long episodes?

I also notice that the narrator isn't Peter Thomas on this Bobby Kent episode.

Well according to Direct TV we can expect 2 more of the hour long specials to air next Saturday. The Buddhist Monk Murders and See No Evil are both listed. Fingers Crossed!

The following episodes are all confirmed Forensic Files 1 Hour Specials:
00 01 Payback (2001)
00 02 The Buddhist Monk Murders (2001)
00 03 See No Evil (2001)
00 04 Eight Men Out (AKA) The Norfolk Four (2001)
00 05 The J.F.K. Assassination; Investigation Reopened (2004)
00 06 The Lindbergh Baby Kidnapping; Investigation Reopened (2005)

**of these 6 episodes as far as i know Payback is the only episode NOT narrated by Peter Thomas**

I've been trying to determine the name of the episode that aired tonight. The only thing I can come up with is "Payback" like bcool posted. The imdb page also has a listing for an episode with that title; thing is, there's an American Justice episode about this case called "Payback For a Bully." I guess that name is better than nothing for now.

I had no idea there were other hour-long episodes than what I posted earlier. By my count, there's so far 7 of these special episodes.

I'd also like to know why these episodes aren't apart of the official episode guide. Whether they were on TLC or CourtTV or whatever, it doesn't matter since they are all Medstar Television productions. As far as why tonight's episode (as well as the Eight Men Out episode for that matter) having a different narrator, Peter Thomas was still under contract with TLC but there was no narrator yet for the transition to CourtTV so we have this guy. I'd hate to deal with such a mess as I'm sure they did moving networks!

now this is pretty damn weird. Up until yesterday, the only show I knew that covered the Bobby Kent case was American Justice. I have that episode in my collection and it is an entirely different episode than what aired last night (narrated by Bill Kurtis). I can find literally nothing online that says Forensic Files covered this case and I have no idea who the narrator is. A surprise indeed.

Just a few notes of interest: a movie was also made about this case, starring 2 of the great young actors of the day: Nick Stahl and the late Brad Renfro. Nick Stahl disappeared a few times in recent years, but resurfaced each time. Also, this happened in Hollywood, Florida, whom some of you may recall was the city Adam Walsh was abducted from.

The only confirmed link that i have to Payback as a Forensic Files Episode is the imdb weblink. The Narrator for this particular episode was actually Peter Dean. I made sure to both cap the episode for my collection and carefully check out the end credits to confirm. There honestly wasn't a whole lot of forensics shown in this episode to warrant a full hour. Nonetheless its great to finally see these rare 1 hour episodes airing again. I can definitely confirm the Buddhist Monk Murders episode set to air next Saturday. I have a poor webrip of it sadly with badly overdubbed russian audio track. It originally aired under the Medical Detectives Title in 2001 on the Discovery Channel.

Excited to get these hour long episodes. Now if I could just get my hands on The Snipers Trail and Foreign Body, my collection would be complete.

"Foreign Body" was recently posted to YouTube (but split into three parts). I tried to paste the link here but it wouldn't let me (because this is my first post), so I can send to you in a PM and you can post the link in the thread if you want.

The Sniper's Trail is scheduled to be on in syndication (not HLN, but independent stations across the country) on 05/27/16.

After these hour-long episodes, my Forensic Files collection will be ALMOST complete. We were saving Episode 1 to be our last, to be ironic. : - P

Bummer. The "LocateTV" website, which is where I was getting these updates on upcoming episodes, is apparently closing up shop. Anyone know of any other sites like this? There's the TVGuide website, but I dislike them immensely as not only did they cause their magazine to jump the shark, but also (ironically) caused the much beloved "Jump the Shark" website to jump the shark when they bought it and gutted it. Plus, they don't have episode titles or descriptions for Forensic Files anyways. (Though, admittedly, considering HLN airs the show 80 billion times a week, keeping up with listing it can be taxing).

Noooo! LocateTV was my go to source as well for finding missing episodes of my collections, not just for Forensic Files.

That Foreign Body copy is a webm format. I have the same episode in .mp4 format merged into one file and reformatted to proper audio and video standards. It took alot of work to do it but was so worth it. It is the best copy of the episode available by far that i have seen. The 3 part episode is watchable with VLC Media Player, but its kind of a crude copy and the video and audio is not synched so a min or so repeats on each file. You can also find the Sniper's Trail on YouTube now as well. That was the episode that has eluded me for so long. Hope this helps Enjoy!!

Also according to DirectTV Guide The Buddhist Monk Murders and See No Evil Forensic Files Specials are due to air this Saturday on HLN. Set your DVR's!!.

See No Evil and Buddhist Monk Murders were both excellent episodes. So glad to see they are re airing these finally. Once again narrated by the same guy who did Payback Special. Peter Dean. I prefer Peter Thomas but this guy is NOT bad. Sad to hear no more are planned to air this Saturday.

I've been scouring the internet to try to find the "Eight Men Out" episode, I'm doing a project on the case and I'd love to find something with a more scientific angle on the Norfolk Four case. If any one has any suggestions for finding this episode I would be very grateful!
*Update*
After a few calls, I found out that my local library can order the episode (on VHS, so now I just need to locate a VHS player!) from another branch! I thought I would simply update the post in case anyone else is that desperate to see any specific episode.

Forensic Files covered the case under its original name, Medical Detectives. The episode originally aired on TLC in 2001, although Court TV was already carrying the series by that time. Because of legal issues, Peter Thomas could not work for both TLC and Court TV at the same time. Hence the different narrator. (The substitute narrator was Peter Dean, not Bill Kurtis.)

My local CBS affiliate is airing a rare episode this coming week, "Insect Clues." As far as I can recall it's never aired on HLN, ID or TruTV. I've had a copy for a while now and can tell you it is extremely graphic. Like probably the most graphic in the series. I don't know how much of it will be edited, but just be careful if that kind of thing is bothersome to you.

For me it airs on the 31st, but your local listings might have it on during another day.

Your local CBS affiliate is not the only non-cable channel to air reruns of Forensic Files. I live near Boston, but my cable system carries WBIN, an independent Derry, NH station that airs five episodes of the show on Saturdays. WBIN has shown some episodes that haven't appeared on HLN. One of them was "Trail of Truth," which is about the 1987 murders of Nancy Newman and her two young daughters.

It's cool that reruns of Foriensic Files are airing in non-cable syndication as well as cable. We FF viewers have the best of both worlds.
