Wow... I found All in the Family to be quite a ground-breaking show. I did alot of research on Norman Lear's sitcoms while in college and let me assure you, if we never had All in the Family, TV today would be VERY VERY different. It's kinda like an old relative. May not be your favorite, but gotta give it respect and admiration for all that it has done.

You bring up a good point. Like you I think "Cheers" was stupid, not to mention overrated. Back in May 1993 when "The Wonder Years" was leaving television the media overhyped the finale of "Cheers," thereby drowning out all news about "The Wonder Years" (one of the best shows ever IMHO). Not only that, ABC refused to air an episode during Sweeps Week the following week like NBC did to "Cheers"! Boy, talk about a lack of respect for "Wonder Years" fans!!!

I apologize for my wrath, but I have a strong love for "The Wonder Years" and was mad that "Cheers" got all the attention. Plus, "Perfect Strangers" (another of my favorites!) left TV the following August, and ABC was not airing new episodes of the show in May--they aired six episodes for the final season in July and August.

Our darn local NBC station has Cheers everynight after the news.
A very "overated" show it was.

I Love Lucy IS a classic, I'll admit that. But for me it just got a little old. I don't see why that should make you mad. To each his own. If you like I Love Lucy, good for you (no sarcasm intended). If someone doesn't like it (like me), well, that's their decision. I used to love it but now that I've seen every episode a billion and one times I don't care if I ever see it again.

It doesn't make me mad(Sorry, I may have put too many angry faces http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif). I just was kind of surprised that so many people had it on their list. I know everyone has their own opinion--I really don't like The Jeffersons, The Beverly Hillbillies, Happy Days, all current shows, etc, and there are many who LOVE all those shows. Like I said, I was just a bit surprised because I love "I Love Lucy" so much.

Personaly, I think MOST sit coms are pretty lame, but I *do* enjoy them on an ironic level. I'm probably going to catch all holy hell for this, but I just don't see what the big deal is about Boy Meets World. I've seen a few episodes and it just seemed like standard sitcom fluff to me.

I like most sitcoms. The only ones I don't like are Maude, The Adams Family, and any sitcom that has aired recently(Spin City, Frazier, Seinfeld, etc.)I just don't like those kind of shows.

the same thing happened in 1999 when SEINFEILD and MURPHY BROWN were canceled, seinfeield got this huge media hype, and poor, poor murphy just limped off into sitcom heaven after nine wonerful years of huge ratings, emmy's and political scandals.
