View Full Version : What are some problems you have with Nick@Nite?
Michael cole 10-25-2015, 06:12 AM 1- Friends
2. Too many George Lopez showings. 6 times a night? Way to much.
3. No diversity. Every single night, Nick@ Nite consists of these 3 shows: Friends, The Fresh Prince Of Belle-Air, and George Lopez. Could use more diversity
4. Taking off Family Matters And Hangin With Mr.Cooper, for More George Lopez (ick)
So there's my little rant about what's wrong with Nick@Nite
dakert 10-25-2015, 04:08 PM No problems here--I haven't watched it since 1996

YOU forgot to include Full House in this list!
Correction: George Lopez shows 7 times per night.
Here's my rant:
1) Off the clock airings are annoying.
2) Full House has been staying on primetime for so long since fall 2012, though Nickelodeon this fall gained 8PM hour. It really needs to go and get replaced by newer show or Nickelodeon live action, maybe more iCarly.
3) 6AM and 6:30AM STILL has Nick at Nite. It really needs to close up and go back to Nickelodeon or Paid Programming
4) Hangin with Mr. Cooper still has some holiday episodes like Valentine's Day/Christmas/and some Halloween episodes to air on Nick at Nite, but never came back last year fall when acquired Jan 2014-Sept 2014.
5) Original Programming Nick at Nite isn't producing anymore which is sad. Instant Mom has been moved to TVLand to burn new episodes until Dec 2014
6) When is See Dad Run 7 remaining episodes will air?? They haven't been on the air since Dec 2014 on Nick at Nite and NOW NickMom is gone.
7) TVLand airing premieres on Nick at Nite for simulcasting is WAY annoying ever since Viacom realignment structure earlier this year. TVLand originals such as Younger, Impastor, Jim Gafigan Show, Teachers (coming in January).
8) Ratings for Nick at Nite last year had averaged 700,000 viewers, but this year it slowly improved to 800,000 viewers with removal of How I Met Your Mother and Everybody Loves Raymond, but it's still not enough to bring back viewers.
9) Even though facebook and social media updates, but these are meaningless as it only talks about each show like Friends, George Lopez, Full House, and Fresh Prince.
10) The advertisements and promos are still lacking, like not even promoting Halloween special this year (last year you network promoted Halloween or Christmas/holidays or something) but this time nothing.
11) It fails to update the network logo or bumpers/banners. Since Nickelodeon originals no longer produced, logo bug should have changed back to blue/orange instead of plain orange.
12) The sitcomsonline blog doesn't seem to care about Nick at Nite as it doesn't announce any schedule updates or changes when it comes to last minute change

Patty Duke 10-25-2015, 08:20 PM What are some problems you have with Nick@Nite?
I have zero problems with TVLand and the numerous Nick@Nite channels because I stopped watching them years ago. Why? They changed and nothing on now is worth my time.
Tubehead 10-25-2015, 09:52 PM i quite watching nick at nite & tv land around 2000 right after i got out of high school i stopped watching nick at nite when they stopped airing i love lucy sanford & son home improvement & family ties then i stopped when they showed roseanne the cosby show & the nanny !! i stopped watching tv land when they started addedreality shows like chasing faire or high school reunion and then when they started airing every one loves raymond then they pushed me over the edge when they started making their own sitcoms then when nick at nite & tv land starting aring friends and how i met your mother then when i boycott nick & nite & tv land!!

You know that How I Met Your Mother and Everybody Loves Raymond is not airing on Nick at Nite anymore though. There are only 4 shows airing over and over which is tiring and annoying.
No offense to you, but have you checked your grammar for spelling errors? I thought the term "quite" you often watch Nick at Nite which is confusing.
mets82 10-26-2015, 04:58 PM Tenter, I agree. Nick at Nite is supposed to be such a huge channel, or at least it was, and now its crap. I cant say anything else because Tenter said it so well. I will say that I dont think the SO blog has anything to do with it. I mean if Nick at Nite cant updated their webpages and news, how can SO can?

Well I actually mentioning about nick at nite network itself. Though I agree that it's not blog's fault that nick at nite didn't give out the news to blog to update.
icecream 10-27-2015, 01:08 AM 3) 6AM and 6:30AM STILL has Nick at Nite. It really needs to close up and go back to Nickelodeon or Paid ProgrammingWhile Nick at Nite is a shadow of its former greatness one thing it still does right is not airing any paid programming. This network has never aired infomercials nor should it start. And even without the 6AM hour Nickelodeon still gets the majority of the day. We have more than enough networks aimed at preschoolers, Nick at Nite can stay in the 6AM hour.
Tubehead 10-27-2015, 01:10 AM sorry im not too good at spelling!! im glade we got me tv and now we got another channel called Annette TV!! they have more variety then nick at nite & tv land put together!! i wish nick at nite would have shown some of the 1990s shows like saved by the bell califon dreams mama's family step by step or boy meets world!!

I think there used to be informercials ran from 1987 to 1998 according to wikipedia, (don't know which time, but it's in overnight slots).
TeenNick starts to bring back variety by returning shows that started today, why doesn't Nick at Nite do that? It should do those soon..
tenter 10-31-2015, 11:02 PM One thing I forgot to add though, why do sometimes nick at nite air other viacom network promos such as tv land originals, comedy network shows, spike, etc. Just tonight they were showing stupid A$$ promo of Kellie pickler whatever show on CMT. I hate this ****!!
benjamoon 11-01-2015, 11:51 PM I stopped watching Nick at Nite regularly in the early 2000s and I haven't even watched it occasionally since 2007-ish. Of course it's become somewhat obsolete with DVDs, Netflix, Hulu, etc.
Even given that, it's also not nearly as clever or creative as it was in the 1980s and 1990s when they had some truly creative ideas that made classic TV viewing an event. Things like Block Party Summer, the Classic TV Countdown, Very Very Nick at Nite, the clever marathons. They had good people running things back then but those days are long gone.
mets82 11-02-2015, 02:59 PM Agreed. Now the people in charge just throw the shows on because they need too. They could care less about the tv viewer.
tenter 11-02-2015, 06:26 PM I'll admit, I first started watching Nick at Nite in 1998 or 1999. I used to like Brady Bunch in early 2000's and especially Pop Up Brady. I sometimes liked Different Strokes and Facts of Life. I really do have interest watching Family Ties, Coach (not impressed with why it placed on late night hours), Perfect Strangers (also placed on late night along with Head of the Class). I was sad that Family Ties had been taken off the Nick at Nite in 2003. I used to record the show every day when it aired on Nick at Nite. Actually I didn't save the show episode, I used the same tape to record episodes. I record those because it was on late night. Same thing with Coach and Perfect Strangers.
TBH Perfect Strangers was also my favorite show. Before I knew it was on Nick at Nite, in 2010 I watched those full episodes on youtube, I don't remember which cuts Perfect Strangers aired on Nick at Nite, or could be edited. But the whole point was Nick at Nite from what I watched to 2011 they used bumpers, but in 2011 and current, they never bothered to use those. I stopped caring Nick at Nite in 2013 or 2014 when it is lacking variety. I used to watch Full House, but not anymore. I've changed. They were lot of commercials, and no Nick at Nite originals.
tenter 02-23-2016, 04:05 PM Nick at Nite used to advertise as family table since 2004 and had continued until 2015, but this time not anymore. Because of Viacom alignment and simuclasted (this time they don't do those in primetime anymore, but air in late night hour every week). Same four shows overplayed to death.
George Lopez staying way too long for 8 years nonstop! Since its previous history from 2007 to 2012 (or 2013 sometimes) they had marathons and advertising though Nick at Nite clearly made up what kind of George Lopez marathon, like Lopezadrine, Best of George Lopez, Luck o Lopez, George Lopez embarrasing moments, all the other crap that nothing makes total sense. In summer of 2012 George Lopez on primetime showed in random episodes by dartboard, showing thanksgiving, halloween, superbowl, valentines, christmas episodes without advertising. Currently no marathons, but still have 7 airings, and these same episodes shown over and over.
The advertising just updated new design, but still has same orange logo. Maybe it's a way to get some change or rebrand soon.. The upfront will be mentioned on Mar 3.
The ad usually mentions says it's a marathon, but it's really not, it's actually 2 hours or 3 hours for something.
The banners/bumpers on the bottom screen NEVER updates and it's still the same in 2012, except Fresh Prince.
Overall content for network is lacking, and always downhill and already lacking variety.
6AM hour is still there Nick at Nite for George Lopez!! I wish 6AM should go back to Nickelodeon because this is a complete mess.
tvfan25 02-23-2016, 04:29 PM They need to have shows from the 80's for awhile and see how they do in the ratings. And not show one show for six hours straight!

factsoflife 02-24-2016, 02:13 AM They haven't acquired any programs I'd want to watch in a long time (since Friends came to N@N in 2011). And instead of acquiring new shows they seem to keep acquiring the same shows they've played for years and years.
They basically skipped the 80's and 90's and moved right into the 2000's and 2010's. They missed the chance to air shows like Kate & Allie; Punky Brewster, 227, Blossom, Moesha that would all appeal to their core audience.
They stopped focusing on classic TV and modern classics and now just air the same shows every other cable network is airing.
They replay George Lopez and Full House ad nauseum.

Actually they did start sitcoms 2000s, started in 2009 when there was Malcolm in the Middle (2000-2006) airing, but that only lasted until Sept 2010.
And technically they DID acquire new shows and somewhat old shows but that didn't last long. After Sept 2011, the shows they have: acquired Friends, previously running was That 70s Show, Family Matters, Everybody Hates Chris, My Wife and Kids, The Nanny, George Lopez, and Glenn Martin DDS (every Sunday 5:30AM for reruns and few burnoffs).
-That 70s Show (1998-2006) first acquired by Nick at Nite in late May 2011 (before that TeenNick used to air this show, I just saw the ad for it) and that lasted until Jun 2012 when TVLand first acquired this show. Then in mid Mar 2014 after winter block marathon is over, it quietly returned to Nick at Nite (I just found out late Feb 2014 based on zap2it schedule) but aired in late night hours, then lasted until Sept 2014.
-Family Matters was acquired by Nick at Nite (news brought up in 2005 or 2006) in Jun 2008 and lasted until May 2012 and was on brief summer hiatus when 6AM hour when Nickelodeon temporarily brought back until late fall 2012. Family Matters was back again in Sept 10, 2012 (one week notice based on nickandmore tweet) airing only 5AM hour (along with Full House rejoining lineup in prime) but it lasted until Dec 31, 2012.
-Everybody Hates Chris (recent latest off network show, and Nick at Nite has mentioned the news back in summer 2008) was acquired in Sept 2009 and lasted until Sept 2012.
-My Wife and Kids - acquired in Aug 2010 (mentioned on March 2010 upfront) and that lasted until early or mid 2013. When the winter block marathon aired in late Jan 2014 until mid Mar 2014 late night hours, My Wife and Kids was back again, this time in block every Tuesdays started mid Feb 2014 from around 1AM-6AM. After winter marathon is over, it again left lineup.
-The Nanny was acquired May 2009 (i found out in 2008 or early 2009..) and lasted until Sept or Oct 2013.
-George Lopez of course Nick at Nite's current longest running sitcom acquired in Sept 2007 stays in lineup nonstop [not counting for phased off and later returning nor having other shows marathon] and continues since! News acquisition mentioned in March 2007 upfront.
-Glenn Martin DDS was former Nick at Nite animated original series that acquired in Aug 2009 and recent new episodes aired until Nov 2011. It still continues to air reruns every Sundays 5:30AM until Jun or Jul 2012.
Former airings after 2011, but before 2016:
-Home Improvement had acquired in Sept 2007 (news brought up in 2006 or early 2007) until Oct 2009. It was again brought back every Mondays late Sept 2010 airing 5AM hour until early 2011. Since then it had on and off airings at random times for Nick at Nite especially in summer 2011 and little in fall 2011. Last return was Feb 2012 Mondays and Wednesdays 6AM half hour i think.. but lasted until Mar 2012..
Current airings: George Lopez (we know), Full House, Fresh Prince, Friends (we know)

I know all of this already. I said they basically skipped the 80's and 90's; (generally speaking) and went right into the 2000's and 2010's. Obviously, they did air SOME series from the 80's and 90's. I was speaking in general terms.
and yes, I realize they've acquired many shows over the years, I just meant they haven't gotten a show I wanted to watch in a very long time. my point is the line-up in my opinion seems to be stale.

Well they did acquire Hangin'with Mr. Cooper a 90s sitcom, which was few days notice. It aired only in 6am hour from jan 2014 to sept 2014.
they also did rejoin brady bunch, early 70s sitcom from may 21, 2012 to jun 25, 2012 airing 5am hour. These were few days notice. The time that nick at nite brought back brady bunch which really doesnt fit well with other lineup mostly in 90s and 2000s, realized nick at nite made a mistake
actually the very first time nick at nite brings 2000s is.. george lopez, which started in 2007.
since this is 2016 and in modern era, i dont think nick at nite would bring 80s sitcom, 90s should be ok, and maybe 2000s. Nick at nite is no longer classic network. Theres AntennaTV or MeTV if you want classics

BigManMike 02-24-2016, 02:52 PM I wish they would bring back Family Matters and Everybody Hates Chris.
mets82 02-24-2016, 03:54 PM Everybody knows the problems. What I would do? I would just gut Nick at Nite and shut it down for a while. Have maybe a few weeks or even a month of movies, other Nick shows from other Nick networks and then rebrand the channel as a relaunch. My new schedule off the top of my head and just thinking about it is I would do one of two things. Either have a block of episodes of one show each night or something else or have traditional scheduling.
Now keep in mind all 4 of the shows airing on Nick at Nite wouldnt air. They are on other channels and need a break.
Traditional Scheduling
8pm-Boy Meets World
9pm-Blossom
10pm-Step by Step
11pm-The Wonder Years
12am-Malcom in the Middle
1am-Everybody Hates Chris
2am-Home Improvement
Now with the block scheduling you could do:
Mondays-Blossom
Tuesday-Everybody Hates Chris
Wed.-Step by Step
Thurs.-BMW
Friday-The Wonder Years
Sat.-Malcom in the Middle
Sun.-Home Improvement
What do you guys think?

Tubehead 02-26-2016, 07:30 AM i stopped watching nick at nite when they cut off i love lucy then i also watched family matters family ties sanford & son the jeffersons &] fresh prince!! my dream is instead of showing nickelodeon make nickelodeon spearted channel then make nick at nite an 24 hour classic tv station!! i know we got tv land lets face it tv land not any good any more!! i also stopped watching nick at nite when they kicked off home improvement family ties & i love lucy! i mostly stopped watching when they put on roseanne married with children & the cosby show !! i really stopped watching nick at nite when they add how i met your mother & friends!! sorry theses show are too dirty for nick at nite what their going to show next sex & the city? or how about two & an half man!? i wish they would went the 1990s they could show the wonder years boy meets world mama's family saved by the bell the hughleys family matters & step by step i also wish they would bring back hanging with mr cooper it was on for few months then they put it on like 6:00 am on nick at nite i did watch it when it was on nick at nite!! I also thought 8 simple rules or boy meets world would fit good for nick at nite!!
tenter 02-27-2016, 05:16 PM also i have another: they're randomly airing Instant Mom at 6:30AM on Fridays for some reason, it started airing season 3 in production order according to wikia. Since wikipedia or thefutoncritic has no information of Instant Mom production after 312, it's back to George Lopez. My whole point is that any TVLand originals are popping from nowhere in lineup are airing without any advertisement, even if it did made last minute schedule changes.
bmasters9 02-27-2016, 05:52 PM They replay George Lopez and Full House ad nauseum.
I saw a few minutes of George Lopez the other day, and I was not impressed! There's nothing funny on that show, and the DVDs aren't even worth the money (at least to me)!
And I've felt very much the same way about Full House!

tenter 06-29-2017, 01:35 AM I also want to add something... why does Nick at Nite repeatedly show Ice Age movies too many times toward many several months since fall 2016?? Is the network too cheap to produce different types of varieties of movies? Along with The Parent Trap
Or is the Viacom in deep do do trouble? And the nerve of airing CMT shows like Nashville
To make it much worse: last minute change. Monday July 3 2PM-4PM AND 9PM-11PM has Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs:mad:   . So sick of seeing the same Ice Age movies over and over again!!!!
Steve Winslow 08-03-2020, 07:42 PM Friends!
Well, not just the show itself (though I don't care to watch it), but the fact that they play so much of it and have no other shows in prime time. I also think Mom shouldn't be on Nick@Nite, for one it is still a new show which is still producing new episodes. Rather than playing only four shows they should go back to only playing a show for 1-2 hours at the most, and that way they could play more shows rather than just playing the same four for extended periods of time.
Of course the two shows on Nick@Nite I actually like to watch, are on for the least amount of time and they aren't on until 3:30 in the morning.
Tubehead 08-04-2020, 12:28 AM i wish they would stop showing spongebob they play it do death over night on nick toons & they show it in the after noons on nick at night channel!! ! i wish they would put Nickelodeon's Alvin & the chipmunks or show different power rangers TV shows or show power rangers best morphers!!

I never understand why Nick@Nite will play SpongeBob as part of its lineup for a short while only to switch back to Friends. SpongeBob is not a Nick@Nite show or a sitcom, so it should not be on the block. I also don't see why NickToons needs to play it all night, they should throw in some Jimmy Neutron, Danny Phantom, Rocko, FOP, etc. Sure some of these come on Teennick over night but they should really be on nicktoons. Nicktoons is basically pointless at this point since they just replay the same shows that are currently running on the main nick channel, but that's another thread entirely. Nicktoons are even playing live-action shows at this point:rolleyes:

SpongeBob is on primetime but on Fri and Sat 9pm slot, although it varies with other Nick live actions on nick@nite. SpongeBob can also be shown 6:30am weekdays, and 6am hour weekends on nick@nite.
Also can't understand why Friends airing at 9pm slot (Mon-Wed), since they running out of ways what to show on primetime. Nick@nite was supposed to end contract in fall 2017, but renewed quietly, unknown how long it will stay there. Its sad and pathetic. Old 90s and early 2000s nick@nite are much better than this trash.
NickRewind block of TeenNick pulled Danny Phantom and Ren and Stimpy off and were replaced even more Rugrats and Hey Arnold
The problem that I have is that they show movies at night when they should be showing shows.
NickToons is also showing movies now as well when they should be showing cartoons.

I see something by the name of 12oz Mouse airs at 12am on N@N:lol:

I haven’t even heard of it before, but why is it even airing on N@N?

This is the show:lol:
tooltime1987 08-09-2020, 05:12 PM I think Nick@Nite should reacquire Home Improvement and acquire Last Man Standing both with Tim Allen.

Also Nicktoons was airing live action which includes Henry Danger and Thundermans, of course both also currently showing on TeenNick as well.
Nicktoons needs to change new name to Nick2, in my opinion

They shouldn’t even be showing live action shows at all.
tenter 08-12-2020, 11:49 AM They shouldn’t even be showing live action shows at all.
I agree
Steve Winslow 08-12-2020, 04:19 PM They shouldn’t even be showing live action shows at all.
No they shouldn't, it was named 'NickTOONS' for a reason.
tenter 08-15-2021, 03:22 PM Sorry to bring this up, but Friends airing on nick@nite is TOO MUCH! I know this has already have been talked many times, but still.. And Young Sheldon moved to late nights several months ago, with Friends being back on primetime AGAIN.
Also Full House STILL continues to skip episodes every Mondays between 5:30AM and 6AM on nick@nite.
Also the movie promo: that started last month for Family Night movie still continues to use wrong time 9PM.
I know I can watch something else, but it doesn't hurt to have my opinion.
Merry24 08-15-2021, 06:29 PM My problem is there is no programming offering. They have tryed to bring different shows in they stay for a short time than the FRIENDS viewers complain and they put FRIENDS in all the main prime slots. I don’t understand why the schedule isn’t something like.., or even Atleast even during special Holiday programming.
9pm-10pm Young Sheldon
10pm-11pm Mom
11pm-12AM FRIENDS
12AM-1AM Full House
1AM-2AM Young Sheldon
2AM-3AM Mom
3AM-4AM FRIENDS
4AM FRIENDS
4:30AM Mom
5AM Young Sheldon
5:30AM Full House
They don’t even bring in programming. Example.
January…
April..
July..
October..
TVFactFan 08-15-2021, 06:47 PM why does anyone care about N@N in 2021 with all the options below
Pluto TV
Amazon TV
Youtube TV
Antenna TV
merlinjones 08-16-2021, 02:51 PM Nick at Nite hasn't been relevant since they spun off the vintage classics to TVLand (1990s?) - and then screwed that up too with original programming.
In the late 80s-early90s N@N was the place to be. Luckily we now have MeTV, Decades, Cozi, H&I, and AntennaTV
stevea 08-16-2021, 03:05 PM The ratings prove it out--MeTV has been beating both Nick at Nite and TV Land for a few years now.
You have to think they're on life support. One mystery is why Viacom would allow Nick at Nite to be driven into the ground by obvious know-nothings.
icecream 08-16-2021, 03:09 PM Luckily we now have MeTV, Decades, Cozi, H&I, and AntennaTVUnluckily for me the only one of those stations I have is Antenna TV, I won't be getting Rewind either. Decades and MeTV don't do me any good when their livestreams are so unreliable.
tenter 02-26-2023, 01:24 PM Again sorry to bump up the thread, but it's bad enough nick@nite already had been downgraded to 2 shows with Friends STILL gets more exposed, but I wish they would've do something with 6AM hour slot. It's been pointless for years. I wish 6AM should've been Nickelodeon branding. I predict that in future nick@nite might be more worse. Although I don't want to continue to complain more, so I'll find other alternatives later on.
TVFactFan 02-26-2023, 01:31 PM TV streaming and Digital TV has made N@N irrelevant

In today's video I talk about one of the most influential channels and more specifically programming block from my childhood... Nick at Nite aired classic TV shows that to this day, I love to sit down and watch to pass the time.
tenter 10-14-2023, 09:22 AM https://cordcuttersnews.com/here-are-the-10-cable-tv-networks-most-likely-to-shut-down-first-including-nickelodeon-freefrom-fxx-more/
Don't know if that has anything to do with it.. but I doubt Nickelodeon channels closing sooner.
Also for nick@nite, not even surprising decline in schedules. Friends so far is the only show doing well in nick@nite, even better than nickelodeon according to spoiler tv ratings, for top 200 cable reruns.
It's likely new generation kids don't seem to be watching TV anymore and go for streaming.
it might be awhile for few years, but there's year to year decline.
tenter 10-14-2023, 09:26 AM even nick@nite rebranding recently still doesnt improve schedule or variety at all
