Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Disney's Buena Vista Television for Nick at Nite to become the shared cable home (with TV Land) of the hit 1985-1992 Disney sitcom "The Golden Girls."

Created by Susan Harris, "The Golden Girls" centered on 4 middle-aged women living in Miami, Florida together, all of whom are best of friends: Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur), a part-time substitute teacher; Rose Nylund (Betty White), the "dummy" of the "Girls"; and Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), a middle-aged Sexpot, along with Dorothy's elderly mother, Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty).

Among other regulars during the series' 7-year run, which began on September 14, 1985, included Dorothy's ex-husband, Stan (Herb Edelman), who was constantly on-and-off trying to win Dorothy back (but to no avail).

In the hour-long series finale, telecast on May 9, 1992, Dorothy married, after a brief courtship, a man she met and fell in love with (Leslie Nielsen).

Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall add "The Golden Girls" to its regular lineup starting Monday, September 12, 2016 with a week-long marathon titled "Nick at Nite Remembers The Golden Girls," in which Betty White hosts and presents a marathon of her 40 all-time favorite "Golden Girls" episodes (10 per night in a 4-night marathon) from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET/PT each night (repeating from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. ET/PT), with regular commercials and promos replaced by Betty's fond memories, respectively, of Estelle Getty (who died at age 84 in 2008 after a long fight with Alzheimer's Disease), Bea Arthur (who died in 2009 at age 86 of Cancer) and Rue McClanahan (who died in 2010 of a Massive Stroke at age 76); after the marathon, Nick at Nite shall air "The Golden Girls" regularly every night from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Whereas TV Land shall air "The Golden Girls" during the day and afternoon, Nick at Nite shall air it during the evening hours.

"The Golden Girls" is A Witt Thomas Harris Production for Walt Disney Television.
