Last night’s ratings peaked around the time the trailer was shown at halftime.

Oh yes. It definitely leaves with you with more questions than answers. But I think that's what a good movie trailer should do, leave enough of the plot a mystery so you'll want to go see what's going to happen in the movie. But I think it looks great and I can't wait to see it.

I loved the original three movies but never seen the three newer ones (I should get them from the library). Anyway, I can't wait to see this. I suspect Luke is a key but I hope he didn't turn bad, that would bother me. I'd like to see him as some sort of Obi Wan.

From what I found in my research, Luke has grown into a very powerful Jedi even more than Obi Wan and Vader combined. He's more on Yoda's level now. I believe he is, like Obi Wan once was, a hermit. Of course this was what I found online and could have been there to throw us off of Luke's role in the story.

That would make sense actually. I just can't see him being evil. I suppose it could happen but I don't see it. Yeah I read that online and could explain him wearing a robe.

I loved the original three movies but never seen the three newer ones (I should get them from the library).I wont ever watch those disgusting pieces of garbage and you shouldnt either!! (Unless you dont care about purity)

Star wars has been destroyed..... THE ORIGINAL 3 MOVIES IS "STAR WARS" and the only 3 I recognise..........

Star wars 7 based on the new altered movies IS PURE UTTER GARBAGE and anyone involved with making it doesnt care about purity or how good of a movie they once had in the early 80s and its disgusting and sad......

People can watch what movies they want. And you don't know if they're garbage or not since you haven't watched them.
Part 7 is not based on the new altered movies, but a direct sequel to the original trilogy.

And even as far back as Episode 4 A New Hope, we were left with questions. Who was Darth Vader before he turned to the dark side? What made him turn? Who was Lukes mother, and what happened to her? Even though she was never mentioned, it was assumed she was dead. Therefore Lucas made the Episodes 1-2 and 3 to answer those questions and many others.

Going to get my DVD's out in December and watch them all before I see the movie. I haven't watched any in about 7 or 8 years.

Was just curious. I've seen all the trailers and still we have not seen hide nor hair of Luke Skywalker. Not even a split second shot. It took some time to find it, but the answer may lie here....

Corporate synergy has played a big role in promoting the Disney franchise on Disney-owned ABC, especially on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Good Morning America. By TV Newser's count, The Force Awakens has been mentioned 449 times on ABC, 111 times on ESPN and 93 times on ESPN2 since the Monday Night Football debuted one of the Star Wars film's trailers in October.
