View Full Version : I need to find a new job!
MrCleveland 10-17-2015, 07:31 AM I know I've been feeling blue lately, but the first thing is that I can't find love...I already made a post about that! The other is...I feel that my job is taking advantage of me!
The locks got changed at my church and now everyone that I go to church seem to be "Since you got the key and have no life...could you let these people in?" Thank You!
I graduated from Ohio Center for Broadcasting and I'm trying to find a job in the fields that I graduated from, but many require a Business Degree either Associates or Bachelor. Something I don't have!
It looks like I'll have to go back to school...again! I feel like The Carpet Man!...

Foggy 10-17-2015, 09:21 AM I'm not sure what kind of job you would be looking for in broadcasting--
Radio or Television
DJ or Anchor
Sports or Weatherman
Journalist or Engineering
Admin/Accounting or Sales
Don't know if this would be helpful, but here are a few sites
(most of them look like Temp Agencies or Career Employment)
that are geared for jobs in Broadcasting in and around the Cleveland area:

Most of these you probably already know about, but some, hopefully will be helpful.
Myles 10-17-2015, 11:04 AM You got to live for yourself first and foremost. If you are too nice and try to appease everyone, you will be the only one who is unhappy. At the end of the day it's your happiness that should mean the most, right? Learn to say no. That does not make you a bad or selfish person. Your time is as valuable as the next person's. I've found that people will eventually respect you more when you tell them no.
Good-luck in the new job search. Do things for yourself. Get hobbies, go outside and be happy. Love will come when you least expect it. :)
Bonniegirl 10-17-2015, 02:48 PM I feel for you!! I need to find a job too!!! Good luck!!!

Mostly Radio/TV, DJ/Anchor, and probably work behind the camera. I'm not big into business sales. If there's more business sales than TV positions...I'll go back to school and get another Associate Degree...this time for Business!
IllinoisTVFan 10-18-2015, 12:07 AM I worked in those fields and getting a job in broadcasting is extremely hard unless you want to work in sales. To get into other broadcasting jobs you have to start at the bottom and I mean bottom as in cleaning, interning etc. I was a DJ at a small station and made barely more than minimum wage. Even those jobs are hard to find. it's why I went back and got another degree. Same thing with film (my graduate degree concentrated on film/journalism/tv). There are more business jobs in all these fields and more behind the scenes jobs (like film editor)than "star" type jobs (DJ, anchor, etc).
TVFactFan 10-18-2015, 12:30 AM Unfortunately you have to know someone to get a job in the media especially TV
They don't tell you that **** in college
IllinoisTVFan 10-18-2015, 12:44 AM That is true. Also, they never tell students that even if you are lucky to get a broadcasting job it'll probably be lower wage than if you got a job at a store. No idea, I made more money at one point waitressing than I did as a DJ and I was lucky I had a DJ job! Almost everyone I know who got a broadcasting degree (and I went to a school famous for their broadcasting department)is not working in it. One is a bus driver, another in charge of a telemarketing company.

College......."Dream Selling Business"
IllinoisTVFan 10-18-2015, 01:23 AM Yes it is. College convinces people life will be great but I know many grads at the same job as high school grads.

Biggest scam in America right now
gidgetgrape 10-18-2015, 10:58 AM Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities. Mr. Cleveland, have you thought about creating your own YouTube channel? If you have original content and talent, it might lead to other media gigs. If you get enough followers, you could use it as a reference. Some YouTube stars are becoming millionaires. I'm not suggesting you quit your job and go on YouTube, but it's something you could start doing in your spare time or part-time that could lead to bigger things.

Yes it is, it pushes mediocre kids into school who shouldn't be there.
Steve_uk 10-18-2015, 12:31 PM I don't know about creating your own youtube channel and becoming a millionaire but Bernie Sanders knows a thing or two about the dying American dream, and dying Western aspirations come to that.
MrCleveland 10-19-2015, 07:46 AM I may go back to school early next year to study architecture. I can draw a blueprint of a house, but if I can either do it professionally or know someone to help me, I'll buy some land and build a near replica of my grandpa's house as well as mine and a few others...maybe some from sitcoms....
MrCleveland 11-15-2015, 06:59 PM I might as well move-in my own church since it seems everyone there takes advantage of me, and they're attitude is "too ****in' bad"!
I didn't go for a month because everyone depended on me...looks like I'm the Cleveland Browns...NO Hope!
It seems that Rick Warren is wrong...I have NO Purpose In Life except to make everyone happy but myself. Even when I say "no", it seems to translate as "yes". I might as well be everyone's ***** and have the weight!...

I think it's time to move further away from my church, like...Washington DC!
MrCleveland 04-08-2016, 08:52 AM It seems that I can't even take a **** when I have to! Yesterday I had to bring in a casket...I wasn't even informed that there was a funeral! No one there tells me anything! My employees and church members love to take advantage of me!
