Anyone here on SO celebrate Sweetest Day?

Never have celebrated "Sweetest Day."

My wife and I have always thought of it as a made up
day by Greeting Cards and Florist Companies.

Besides, we already have "Valentine's Day," which we do celebrate.

I never dated anyone in High School or College... actually I never dated anyone-- until I met this women at a bowling alley, (during a mixed doubles league.) 10 months later, she became my wife. We have been married-- going on 30 years.

This started right in your city Mr Cleveland! Here are the facts.


Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio philanthropist and candy company employee started Sweetest Day. He wanted to bring happiness to orphans, shut-ins and under-privileged. His intent was to show these people that they were not forgotten. In 1922, he started this holiday by giving candy and small gifts.


My husband and I have never celebrated Sweetest Day. I'm lucky if he remembers Valentines day!:lol: But I have never been sentimental about things like that. We have each other. That's the real Sweet thing!

Same with us!! We don't celebrate Sweetest Day either! Valentines is enough! ;)

Don't worry, Mr Cleveland, believe me. I don't think a lot of people are paying too much mind to Sweetest day! ;)

I had already known my husband quite a while before we even got together ! He is my second husband. He had family that live in the same apt complex I did, and his nephews were good friends with my sons. So I would see him over there visiting and met him but sparks didn't fly right off the bat!!:D Than one thing led to another, and we have been married almost 15 years now! ;) Mr. Cleveland, your Mrs. Cleveland could be somebody that you already know, and don't even realize yet that you two were meant to be!! ;) Or like how Foggy met his wife. When you aren't really looking and it's just by chance!! ;)

Valentines Day and Sweetest Day can be very traumatic for some. I have a friend who was a very chubby little girl. She told me that she hated the Valentines Day parties at school. She was the fat little girl who never recieved any Valentines from her classmates. :( That must have been awful. She still talks about it to this day! So I can very well understand .

I had my fair share of heartbreaks in high school. I was beginning to think that there would be no one for me. But I met my husband in my Senior year. He was a mature 24 year old who had already served in the military and had a failed first marriage. We have been married for46 years . So don't give up hope MrCleveland! I believe that there is someone out there for everyone! My son just turned 42 and is still looking. I hope he finds someone soon. We would love to have another grandchild! :D

I know that part...hence I posted it up here since it's a Great Lakes Holiday. Minor, yet observed.

Valentine's Day I don't mind much since it's also called "Single Awareness Day".
