View Full Version : Some points about the series The Avengers
Best Man 10-15-2015, 11:15 AM 1)The show was made and set in the early-to-late 1960's a time associated with the VietNam War. When you realize what a brutal, mass-murdering destroyer of the communist persuasion Ho Chi Minh really was and that all protests by Australians against the war were 1000% wrong you realize what a super criminal time the show was made in.
2) This show had a rep for being a series where a woman was never killed. I could swear in one Mrs. Gale (Honor Blackman) videotape ep a woman (not her) was seen dead and I watched the read of the ep expecting the lady to turn out to be still alive (maybe it was a drug that had just made her seem deceased) but the beauty never comes back to life. I only saw this ep once and maybe I did not understand the fast-spoken dialogue well enough but, again, I do think it ended with the lady dead.
3)Patrick MacNee was previously on many US and Canadian TV shows starting around 1954. At ancestrylibrary.com (if you subscribe) you can see good evidence of one "Daniel P. MacNee" arriving in New York on Sep 14, 1954 (he came in from the UK) plus he arrives at Boston, Mass. on Nov. 15, 1955. Apparently he arrived to do these American shows. (His first name was actually Daniel.)
This is very interesting and to the point because one US show he did was Twilight Zone. It may give many Avengers viewers a pause to think he was actually on TZ before he played Steed.
Google "Ho Chi Minh mass-murderer" and check out book "Serial Killers: Ho Chi Minh" at amazon for more on highly mass-murdering, deadly tactics.
The Avengers was made in the UK (and that nation did not fight in the VietNam War itself) but at least one member (Australia) of their Empire (becoming Commonwealth) did----so arguably the UK was involved in the VietNam War also. I almost did not explain this but early response was confused so I explained. And Ho Chi MInh was indeed a brutal killer and nobody in Australia should have supported him----and that makes sense to point that out.

More later.
Not that any of this makes sense, but what does Australia have to do with The Avengers?
Vahan 10-15-2015, 11:55 AM Trying to make any sense out of anything Best Man says will make your head explode.
It isn't worth it.

Slow day at work today, I'm bored.
Best Man 10-15-2015, 12:02 PM Vahan just loves commie mass-murderers! He defends Alan Alda's pro-commie stances as well.

Get lost! Closet Alan Alda fan.
Best Man 10-15-2015, 12:04 PM Torgo, for your information the VietNam War was a big part of the history of the US-UK-Australia. The Avengers was product of that time. Some conversation of that war while talking of The Avengers makes sense.

No, it doesn't. Not even a little bit.
Vietnam War was a bull**** war, and you know it.
Best Man 10-15-2015, 12:06 PM That really makes no sense, Vahan. I am no fan at all of Alan Alda! But he has done a great deal of harm with his Mash series and other stances. Everything he stands for always turns out to be wrong.
Best Man 10-15-2015, 12:08 PM Everyone, I have given my references to proof that Ho Chi Minh was a deadly, brutal mass-murderer. Do not listen to left-wing, commie lover, chasing troll Vahan. Check my Mash postings time and time and see how he has come on them time and time again defending mass-murderers (like Kim II Sung).

All you do is spew vile comments towards Alan Alda, like as if he is the son of Satan. The M*A*S*H board has become nothing more than your right-wing extremist soapbox. All you do is bump the same Synman Rhee thread.
P.S. According to you, it was a great day when Eli Wallach died, and it will be an equally great day for you when Alan Alda dies.
Best Man 10-15-2015, 12:12 PM Since Alan Alda got into this message board due to Vahan's awful, pro-commie meddling I will add that Linda Thorson (who played Tara King) had a small role in one of Alan Alda's movies. Predictably, the movie was a just vehicle for more of Alda's highly left-wing stances but Thorson was beautiful in it all the same.
(I will not read any of that pro-commie's messages. He is a trouble maker who has chased after me, and much worse, ignores how super deadly Sung and Minh both actually were!)
Torgo 10-15-2015, 12:13 PM Haha I like how the OP edited his original post after my question.

YOU are the trouble-maker, not me! YOU!
STOP spewing vile comments towards Alan Alda!
Best Man 10-15-2015, 12:16 PM Torgo, why not forget me and just think about what I am saying. Minh was a-murderer of gigantic proportions. The 60's turned out to be a criminal time with so many supporting Empire/Commonwealth Australians supporting his terrible regime and the 1960's The Avengers brings to light that time.

Better the 1960's than the women-chained-to-the-kitchen-sink decade of the 1950's.
Mr. Television 10-15-2015, 12:49 PM I don't understand. Is anybody defending any of these communists here? These are just TV shows. Especially in the 1960's, these were innocent times for TV.

I NEVER said ANYWHERE that I like Communists. People, did I say, or imply that anywhere?
I have no idea where Best Man is making these claims. Just because I feel that his hatred towards Alan Alda is way too over the top, doesn't mean I like Communists.

Did I say you did? I'm asking him if anybody here was defending communists. Being a fan of Alan Alda is not defending communists. I'm a fan of his as well just not his politics. I was asking what any of this has to do with 1960's TV shows especially when it was an innocent time for Television?
Torgo 10-15-2015, 01:23 PM Don't fight among yourselves that's just what the commies want!
robyrob 10-16-2015, 11:54 AM this is an inappropriate topic for the random board; it should be in the politics board - and any more bickering will result in the thread being locked.
Best Man 11-06-2015, 02:12 PM Another thing making it very appropriate to talk of commie mass-murderers is that The Avengers is a spy show.
