I've had so many white men job bosses at every job I've had and I swear I hate working for them because they're demanding and they complain too much. I lost my last daytime job recently because the b*tch ass white man I was working for who was a building engineer complained often about my work. My work performance didn't change the whole time I worked there. So I don't know what he's talking about. You are using being black and learning disabled as an excuse. There are many disabled people who can't work yet are denied, so I doubt you'll be accepted. Work on bettering yourself by taking anything you can. I know many black people who have been very successful.

Isiahthomas---- That is the key. You have to do it!! You have to look into all this and follow through!! I don't want to sound harsh, but you come on here all the time for months saying the same thing. So are you actually applying for the SSI and stuff and following through with it? You need to find out exactly what you need to do to start the process and do it!

I see you as being very depressed and you have self esteem issues. But I also see that you seem to be of normal intelligence. You have good writing skills and a good vocabulary! But with the depression and self esteem issues you could probably qualify for SSI! But they might try counselling and medication first and even if you are denied the SSI they could still help you find the resources you need for job training and money in the meantime!!!

What if I told you, that you CAN do a job making $1000.00 a week, or more, even though you are "Black and have a Learning Disability!"

The way to get a job is to go in and see if they are hiring or taking applications---do not call. If they take your application, then keep checking back (by stopping in) every week.

I know people that have earned as much as $1500-$2000.00 a week---they do put in the hours (14 hours a day, 6 days a week), to earn that kind of money, but the point is,, they do it!! You can too, but it doesn't mean you have to do it.

5 years ago I was out of a job and desperate for money. I was evicted and about to loser everything. And I didn't have a my Mother or Father to bail me out. I was also about to be homeless. The only one who was going to help me was ME!

I put an ad on Craigslist for a job doing anything (Legal) for a paycheck. I got one call after 3 weeks, from a guy who needed someone with a drivers license, which was the only thing I had and wasn't about to lose, to drive a van hauling freight all over the USA. I wasn't obligated to anyone but myself, so I took the job. Yes I would be on the road for 4 to 8 weeks at a time, but it paid between 800 and $1200 a week and wasn't any lifting involved. I thought I would hate it, but seeing America and being paid for it was amazing. I loved it.

After 2 years I saved enough to buy me a new van and drive hauling freight for myself making as much as 3 times what I was making. And all it took was the drive to do it. Now I own 5 vans and I have employees of my own. Yes its a small business but it is growing.

DRIVE IS ALL IT TAKES Isiah. You can waste time complaining about how you can't do it, or you can keep pushing until you do. It's not the white man that is hurting you. It's yourself that's hurting you. BTW the guy that hired me to do this job 5 years ago was Russian. And they are not easy to work for because they have a work ethic that differs from ours.

One more thing. I have gotten Welfare, Disability, Unemployment, and even once stood at a freeway ramp with a sign begging for money, and I can tell you that working is far better than anything else I have ever done. Yep, a very close family friend of mine is in his mid thirties and he is moderately learning disabled/mentally challenged. He works part time at an old age home as a file clerk and he does other miscellaneous clerical work there. He has pride in his work and he does not complain.

I worked at McDonalds with several people with Downs Syndrome who cleaned. They didn't complain at all. I worked a telemarketing job with a guy who was a quadriplegic in a wheelchair. I worked with a blind guy and several deaf men. They were all more disabled than I'm sure he is.

I have a learning disability (Dyslexic and ADHD) but that never stopped me from working or even graduating from college. Just because you have a learning disability it does not mean that you are an idiot (or too stupid to work) or incompetent. I know a lot of people with all kind of disabilities and they are still able to function in life without the AID of the government and other people's tax money. So in using the LAME excuse because you THINK you have a learning disability (hence you cannot work) is ridiculous.

That guys sounds creepy and glad I never came in contact with him. As a formerly underage girl I can assure everyone that is rare. However, I was frequently harassed by older men. In fact I still am and it was a problem when I did online.

When I first came to sitcoms online 11 years ago, isiah you and I became good friends on here. Then I kinda had a fall out with you over some CDs you gave me and requested them back, but I will leave that in private. But I have been reading your threads you post like this for years, I don't always respond, but I have to respond to this.

Sometimes I think you post these threads for the effect and attention. Personally I think you are embarrassing yourself and you are making yourself look bad. Disabilities aside. I'm just as black as you are and I'm not complaining. I will admit racism is alive and well and I do have awareness. I'm sure at my job there are bigots, but I don't let that stop me from doing my job and I don't let racism stop me from eating. I'm there for the same reason they are, to pay my bills and keep money in my pocket. There are racist people all over, we see them everyday, we smile at them, and they smile at us. You need to rise above all of that. And the racist people at your job you speak of, their perception of you is probably right in their eyes because that's what you are showing them.

I know plenty of black people and I grew up in a diverse area so I know diversity. I also know many of them managed to become successful in spite of it all. Is there racism? yes but many overcome it.

Long story short, he's had some health issues and now he's in the process of trying to get some emergency assistance and disability, but they hit you with all these obstacles like doctors, signing papers, social workers, etc. I know it's not easy out there, he's not asking for a handout, he needs some assistance, because he lives by himself and has to wonder about his bills. So I am not chastising you, I can imagine what you're going through, I'm just saying you need to stop whining and pointing fingers at everyone.

I used to work for a cleaning company in Virginia for 10 years and the last full time job I had doing porter work at a apartment that I got laid off from last year, I was there for almost 9 years.

Then you need to fix those problems. Maybe get medications. Otherwise look for those jobs you can do. Start your own cleaning business. There's many opportunities instead of saying "poor me".

I know I have issues as to why I can't keep a job and that's not my fault because there's some things that people are born with that they can't control. Having a comprehension problem does suck and I wish I didn't have that problem because I wanna work and I deserve to be given a chance. I applied for temporary cash assistance a few weeks ago from social services and I hope they approve me because I really need the money. I also looked at applying for SSI but I have to be 65 and disabled to get that. But I also read that you have to have low income or no income to be able to qualify for SSI. I'm gonna write a letter to SSI office in Maryland and see if they can help me because it's not looking good for me to find a job. No jobs are emailing me and I'm sick of that. If I don't get approved for temporary cash from social services, I'm gonna end up losing my car because I don't have money to pay for repairs. If I don't have a car, I'm not gonna find a job because it's very difficult trying to find a job riding the bus. I rode the bus when I was in Cleveland and I couldn't find a job.
