"Blindspot" Gets Order for 9 More Scripts
by Nellie Andreeva
September 28, 2015

Heading into Week 2 of the fall season, the top new series of Premiere Week, NBC drama "Blindspot", has received an order for additional scripts. While most such orders are for three to five scripts, the "Blindspot" pickup is for nine, matching the full episodic back order a fall freshman show can receive.

With a big DVR lift, "Blindspot" drew a 4.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.2 million total viewers. This is the first fall series to get a script order this season and an example of a breakout hit from an independent studio (Warner Bros. TV).

All the other strong Premiere Week freshman performers came from sister studios: ABC/ABC Studios’ "The Muppets", CBS/CBS Studios’ "Limitless", Fox/20th TV’s "Rosewood" (and "Scream Queens", when streaming data is factored in).

"Blindspot" Gets Full-Season Order at NBC

NBC’s "Blindspot", already the fall season’s top-rated new series in adults 18-49, has become the first freshman series to get a Back 9 pickup, bringing its first-season order to a full-season 22 episodes.

The order follows the network’s recent pickup of nine backup scripts for the thriller about a woman with no memories whose tattooed body holds the key to her past and to a vast and complex mystery.

Through three weeks, "Blindspot" has averaged a 2.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.6 million viewers overall in Live+Same Day.

The show’s first two telecasts each have grown by 4.6 million viewers in Live+3, in both cases the biggest increases for those weeks among all broadcast and cable programs.
