It's one and done for TNT's "Proof". The Turner-owned cable network has canceled the Jennifer Beals drama from producer Kyra Sedgwick after one season.

"Proof" was a procedural that centered on a skeptical, hard-science female surgeon (Beals) who struggled with family issues including a tragic death. She is convinced to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences and hauntings in a quest to find verifiable proof to answer one of life's biggest questions: Is death the end or is there something beyond?

The series debuted in June to 2.7 million total viewers and ended its 10-episode run Aug. 18 with 2.1 million. The series just never took off with critics and viewers in the same way as fellow summer shows "The Last Ship" and "Rizzoli & Isles".

Rob Bragin (Greek) penned the pilot exec produced alongside Sedgwick and her manager, Jill Littman, and producer Tom Jacobson. The drama reunited TNT with Sedgwick following her seven-season run on "The Closer".

"The L Word" alum Beals, Matthew Modine and "Scandal's" Joe Morton also starred.
