Wawwie 09-22-2015, 08:07 PM Dark Shadows If you are really 14, you weren't even alive when Dark Shadows was on.  Mr. Television 09-22-2015, 09:05 PM If you are really 14, you weren't even alive when Dark Shadows was on.  All those shows aired before he was born but they probably aired in syndication in his local markets or on cable. DJM77 09-22-2015, 09:06 PM Three's Company Golden Girls Night Court Didn't really make much sense because dad let me stay in the room while he watched Dallas and LA Law. Mr. Television 09-22-2015, 09:08 PM I wasn't forbidden from watching anything. I was 5 when AITF started airing and I watched it pretty much from the beginning. Bonniegirl 09-22-2015, 09:21 PM If you are really 14, you weren't even alive when Dark Shadows was on.  Dallas and Knots Landing were off the air for along time already too! And Dark Shadows went off the air in like 71 or 72,,I was still a little girl ! Well it does pop up in reruns now and than I guess! Wawwie 09-22-2015, 09:25 PM All those shows aired before he was born but they probably aired in syndication in his local markets or on cable. He says he's fourteen years old. That's 2001 - 2015. I don't recall Dark Shadows in syndication for any of those years. I grew up on Batman reruns. I watched it every day after school but yet I was only 3 when it went off the air. I don't know if he's 14 or not but watching TV shows as a kid doesn't prove anything. I watched lots of shows when I was a kid that ended before I was born. Torgo 09-22-2015, 09:38 PM Why start a new thread when one with the exact same subject is just below it? Wawwie 09-22-2015, 09:40 PM Why start a new thread when one with the exact same subject is just below it? Really... he has done this with several other threads. Weird....  Mace Dolex 09-22-2015, 11:19 PM My parents weren't as strict that I could watch anything except of course on school nights then 10:00pm was the latest we could stay up. Now on Saturdays I like to stay up real late but as a kid it was damn near impossible to do so. bh7812 09-22-2015, 11:29 PM For quite a few years in my family The Simpsons was forbidden in my family. My Mom didn't care for Bart and some of the situations in the show. Seeing some of it as an adult now I both understand why and I don't. There was a lot worse my sister and I could have been watching yet at the same time looking at some of the material I get it. Overall though looking at the show now I wasn't really missing very much. Zoneboy 09-22-2015, 11:37 PM Nothing--if I couldn't watch something it is because it was time for bed. Likewise. Bonniegirl 09-23-2015, 12:52 AM Nothing--if I couldn't watch something it is because it was time for bed. That was generally how it was for me too! ;) Back when I was a youngster , shows were pretty tame so I didn't have TV restrictions if they were on early enough! Even Dark Shadows after school. I watched with my Mom and older siblings! ;) opus 09-23-2015, 01:28 AM Nothing I can remember. If a show was too adult for me, I probably wasn't interested in watching it anyways. Tubehead 09-23-2015, 06:42 AM ones i can think of was: the simpsons roseann all in the family married with children blossom Michael cole 09-23-2015, 08:35 AM He says he's fourteen years old. That's 2001 - 2015. I don't recall Dark Shadows in syndication for any of those years. Well it did. My local CBS channel carried it for some time Michael cole 09-23-2015, 08:46 AM ones i can think of was: the simpsons roseann all in the family married with children blossom I agree with about Roseanne. My parents would watch it everyday in SYNDICATION. As soon as it comes on, I would get up and leave. But now as a young adult, I find the show funny and can watch multiple times Babalu 09-23-2015, 09:22 AM The only thing I remember that I wasn't supposed to watch was The Three Stooges. But it was on early weekend mornings so I watched it anyway. The ironic thing is that I didn't really like it that much and gave up watching it on my own. Overall though looking at the show now I wasn't really missing very much. I couldn't watch The Simpsons either. I wish I didn't wind-up watching that show once that ban got lifted! The two other shows that were outlawed was Roseanne and Ren and Stimpy. I even try to get into these shows, but I can't! Roseanne Barr is just rude and mean! Ren and Stimpy was just TOO vulgar for me...it should've been on MTV! At one point Tiny Toons was outlawed because of Buster and Babs being bad role-models, but that ban was very short...it was when Animaniacs came-out so we watched TTA as well. Another was Nick Arcade because of the enemies that were in the final round...they were sorcerers...so now it makes sense that they were villains...Scorcha seemed to be the hardest...and she was a villainess. That ban was shortly lifted too.... Mr. Television 09-23-2015, 02:37 PM The only thing I remember that I wasn't supposed to watch was The Three Stooges. I was about 8 or 9 when I started watching the 3 Stooges. That aired after school as well paired with The Little Rascals. Loved those shows. I'd go outside and pretend I was Curly. lol I even had a 3 stooges record Mr. Television 09-23-2015, 02:44 PM My parents weren't as strict that I could watch anything except of course on school nights then 10:00pm was the latest we could stay up. I had to go to bed at 10 on schoolnights except for Sundays when I stayed up to watch the end of the NBC Mystery Movies or later Trapper John MD. Fridays and Saturdays I could stay up as long as I wanted. Babalu 09-23-2015, 05:12 PM I was about 8 or 9 when I started watching the 3 Stooges. That's the show that I'm the most disappointed was taken off TV. As far as acting like Curly after watching the Three Stooges, yeah, I think that was the problem. tooltime1987 09-23-2015, 08:47 PM 1. I guess more people know them best in their repackaged television shows so it makes sense to count them as TV shows. Tubehead 09-24-2015, 02:12 AM i knew my mom didn't want me to watch Beavis and Butt-Head or mtv!! i talked my mom into letting me watch happy days marathon on mtv she let me watched that!! treky 09-24-2015, 02:33 AM I guess more people know them best in their repackaged television shows so it makes sense to count them as TV shows. well, not to me! Flying Dutchman 09-30-2015, 10:36 PM All in the Family. Mom thought Archie Bunker was too racist, he didn't like African Americans. And also AITF spinoff The Jeffersons. She felt the same way about George, that he didn't like white people. treky 10-01-2015, 12:21 AM I remember back when MAUDE aired that controversial two-part episode about Maude deciding to have an abortion, my brothers , sisters and myself weren't allowed to watch it. However I did anyway:lol:  |
