The Muppets - Tuesdays at 8:00PM ET/PT on ABC
Premieres Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 8:00PM ET/PT
The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages.

“Every 'grown up’ plot point, whether a work woe or a relationship drama,” says Kevin Fallon, "makes perfect sense in the greater Muppet universe. It’s just that some of us don’t want to live in a universe where Fozzie Bear knows what kind of fetish he would be on a gay sex hookup app. All of that said, in a perverse way, this maturation of the franchise may be exactly what was needed if The Muppets has any hope of being the same lightning rod or have the same longevity as the original Muppet Show, which ran from 1976 to 1981.” PLUS: The Muppets recaptures (http://www.vulture.com/2015/09/the-muppets-tv-review.html) some of the original’s glory, it artfully embraces (http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-muppets-review-all-grown-up-1442529605) the modern, The Muppets ruins Miss Piggy (http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/television/2015/09/the_muppets_on_abc_reboot_review_the_show_ruined_miss_piggy.html), The Muppets have been jammed into a format (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/the-muppets-return-to-tv_5600636fe4b00310edf81fe6) that doesn’t quite suit them, the reboot will leave you heartbroken (http://www.theguardian.com/culture/2015/sep/21/the-muppets-new-episodes-tv-review-abc?CMP=edit_2221), it’s like you’re watching a dark parody of the Muppets (http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-the-muppets-takes-an-unfortunately-dark-turn-with-kermit-friends), this is the closest any network gets to a comedy home run (http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/tv-radio/2015/09/22/TV-reviews-The-Muppets-and-Scream-Queens-score-early-laughs-but-in-different-ways/stories/201509220022) this fall, and it’s a shrill, sour, cringe-worthy travesty (http://flavorwire.com/538860/the-muppets-revival-is-a-shrill-sour-cringe-worthy-travesty).

I found it boring and lacking in actual witty puns. Like everything else now it relied too much on potty humor and shock value.

It's a little like 30 Rock, a show within a show.

I thought it was pretty funny. I dont think it will last if the show becomes like a Family Guy. But if its like The Simpsons as far as dialogue, then I think they'll be ok. Simpsons have had some crude dialogue but nothing like Family Guy.

I enjoyed it. Lets' face it. The Muppets Show was a great show but times change and you can't keep doing the same format forever.

It's far more Simpsons than Family Guy (and probably even tamer than The Simpsons.)

i liked it - I think they are trying to please a little of everyone so they are making some compromises and some people just aren't going to like it.
