Elizabeth Banks is reportedly in talks to direct an upcoming Charlie’s Angels (https://twitter.com/search?q=%20charlie%27s%20angels&src=typd) reboot movie!
The 41-year-old actress, who made her directorial debut this year with Pitch Perfect 2, will also produce the movie alongside her husband Max Handelman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Charlie’s Angels (http://www.imdb.com/news/ni59006677?pf_rd_m=A2FGELUUNOQJNL&pf_rd_p=1920909362&pf_rd_r=04YMTN6GXDMNNAT6V8A8&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_t=15061&pf_rd_i=homepage&ref_=hm_nw_tp1_sm) began as a 1970s television series and was rebooted as a film franchise in 2000 starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu. A television reboot came in 2011 and only lasted four episodes before being canceled.
WHAT DO YOU THINK of Elizabeth Banks directing a reboot of Charlie’s Angels?
DJM77 09-15-2015, 06:54 PM Do we really need ANOTHER reboot?!!!
Mood Ring 09-15-2015, 07:29 PM Fine, as long as it's not like the re-booted tv show that failed.
They need to stop the politically/racially correct nonsense.
Find some women who resemble the original Angels who can act.
Less campiness and humor in the movie. Just 3 sexy females with Jason Bourne skills who can kick some ass!

In this scenario however, it’s up to you. What does your casting knowledge tell you? Can you imagine Emma Stone (EASY A) or Shailene Woodley (THE DIVERGENT SERIES) as one of the Angels? How about Olivia Munn who will no-doubt kick ass in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE? Would Jennifer Lawrence be up for another action role? What about Elizabeth Banks’ PITCH PERFECT co-star Anna Kendrick? Then of course there is everyone's favorite cool chick, Emma Stone.
Don’t forget when making your selections that adding diversity to the cast can make for more interesting options. It worked out very well when they added then 32-year-old Lucy Liu to the mix. The TV series had three white women with a lot of hair, maybe that was creative for that period but we can do better than that. I will give you Lupita Nyong'o as an actress that would make a great Angel; talent and beauty are key ingredients here. My personal pick though, Amber Stevens (pictured right below); she had a great presence in 22 JUMP STREET and is incredibly sexy. Another pick, Alexa Vega (pictured left below); she’s no stranger to action movies with a record including SPY KIDS, MACHETE KILLS, and SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR.
Whatever the case may be, I think I speak for all of us when I suggest that if they are going to force Melissa McCarthy in a role, let it be Bosley.

Here we go with the politically/diversely correct stuff again... gotta love Hollyweird.
Alexis Vega might make a good Sabrina, but she's only 5'1".
They need to do a casting call and bring in some newcomers who are beautiful and athletic. There's got to be better women out there than this!
caladon 10-04-2015, 07:01 PM If she has acting skills rivaling her athletic skills they should consider Kacy Catanzaro from American Ninja.

When I look at the "praying" angels photo I see women but looking at the 3 candidates on the bottom of the article i see girls.

Variety (http://variety.com/2015/film/news/charlies-angels-reboot-screenwriter-1201662854/) reports that Sony Pictures has hired Evan Spiliotopoulos (Hercules, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Beauty and the Beast) to write their Charlie’s Angels reboot, which will be directed by Elizabeth Banks. Banks will also produce with her Universal-based Brownstone and husband/producing partner Max Handelman.
The original show debuted on ABC in 1976 and starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. Eventually Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts joined the series. They played female detectives working for a benefactor named Charlie. Sony eventually released a movie in 2000 starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. That film earned $264 million worldwide and was followed by Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle in 2003, which earned $259 million. Andrea Giannetti will oversee the reboot.

The tv reboot did not capture much of an audience. IMO, if it had been done 10-20 years ago, it would've gotten a lot more attention. There are way too many reality and pay channel (HBO, Showtime) shows to compete with now.
king of comedy 12-17-2015, 06:10 PM I remebered the tv reboot. It could have been better.

"In 2000 and 2003, two of the greatest films of all time were released upon the world. We’re talking about Charlie’s Angels, and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.
Really?

Director Elizabeth Banks’ forthcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot is positioning itself as a more highbrow adaptation of the classic TV series, and its newest addition to the creative team certainly has the credentials to prove it. The film just landed David Auburn, who won the Pulitzer Prize for his play Proof, to pen the screenplay.
As The Hollywood Reporter puts it (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/charlies-angels-reboot-nabs-playwright-914418), Auburn’s hiring will make this new Angels outing a movie with “more class, less ass,” putting the focus squarely on empowering its titular females rather than ogling them. The screenwriter explained in a statement to THR, “Elizabeth Banks is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met, in or out of show business, and I am thrilled to be working with her on a reinvented Charlie’s Angels that’s grounded, edgy, subversive, smart and fun.”
Auburn has had a curious career in Hollywood so far, co-writing the screenplay for the 2005 film version of Proof, then penning the script for the Sandra Bullock-Keanu Reeves time-traveling romance The Lake House, among a smattering of other projects. Just how that previous experience will translate into a big-budgeted action film is unclear, though as Banks told THR in her own statement, “His ability to create three new dynamic yet grounded Angels is very exciting.”
Banks herself has been carving out an eclectic, sometimes head-scratching niche for herself as of late, from her ostentatious Hunger Games character to directing Pitch Perfect 2 to nabbing the role of a completely unrecognizable Rita in next year’s Power Rangers reboot. So in that regard, her odd-on-the-surface pairing with Auburn makes some sense. It seems a bit unnecessary to resurrect Charlie’s Angels again (especially after the much-maligned, quickly canceled TV reboot from 2011), but based on the production’s quirky hiring choices, we’re definitely curious to see what Banks and co. can do with the familiar franchise.

Do we really need ANOTHER reboot?!!!
I wonder if they're giving it another try (despite the utter failure of the 2011 TV reboot) because of the recent resurgence (http://forher.aleteia.org/articles/2015-was-the-year-of-the-woman-at-the-movies/) of female action heroes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_female_action_heroes) on screen (http://www.the-roberts-review.com/#!The-History-of-Heroines/cu6k/56f446bd0cf2d94fab1b86ef) (e.g. Katniss from Hunger Games, Rey (https://www.yahoo.com/news/star-wars-rey-weve-reached-201101096.html) in Star Wars, Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, and Wonder Woman in the DC Cinematic Universe)

The hardest part in doing female lead action movies is arguably the filmmakers can't really figure out how to balance sex appeal with good action without making the women look like a feminist or brute.

Plenty of movies out there with females kicking major ass and are still sexy and attractive. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) immediately comes to mind... what a beauty.
