View Full Version : "The Splat" a new network dedicated to 90's Nickelodeon shows may be coming! retrofan05 09-15-2015, 01:31 PM http://www.inquisitr.com/2415198/the-splat-nickelodeon-launches-new-tv-network-dedicated-to-90s-cartoons-and-series/ MrCleveland 09-15-2015, 01:37 PM That would be awesome! retrofan05 09-15-2015, 01:55 PM I can't see Nick creating an entirely new channel just for classic shows, especially since they are already struggling. My guess is TeenNick will be rebranded to "The Splat." They already have "The 90's Are All That" block and air reruns of newer Nick shows. Zoneboy 09-15-2015, 02:03 PM Here's the entire article, the ads on that site are a nightmare. Rumors that Nickelodeon will break out all the old favorite Nicktoons and series from the 1990s for a new TV network to be called The Splat appear to be true. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Viacom, the parent company of Nickelodeon, quietly debuted a website and social media campaign teasing “The Splat is Coming” on Friday. However, few other about the new network or when it will launch were provided. The new website features links to its social media sites along with the hashtag #thesplateiscoming and “follow us to be the first to find out.” The announcement came in conjunction with the 90s Fest in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday. Posts on the new network’s social media sites as well as on the verified Nickelodeon Twitter account do not indicate which retro cartoons and series will be featured, but they could very well include favorites like Aaah!!! Real Monsters, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, Rocko’s Modern Life, Doug, Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold!, Clarissa Explains it All, and All That, among others. A verified Twitter account for The Splat started promoting the network as well. mets82 09-15-2015, 03:44 PM I didnt watch any of those shows. I will say how can The Splat come about when they cant even get Nickelodeon and TVLand right? bgva 09-15-2015, 06:41 PM That's really cool...I think I've mentioned this here before, but I wish Viacom would create a streaming app for its classic shows, not just Nick. tenter 09-16-2015, 08:09 AM I've heard that The Splat is coming in October in Nickelodeon. Unconfirmed, but my guess is it may probably be replacing Nick@Nite. robyrob 09-16-2015, 08:29 AM this is just a programming block on an existing channel isn't it? retrofan05 09-16-2015, 12:51 PM this is just a programming block on an existing channel isn't it? There's conflicting information. Some sources are calling it a channel while others are calling it a block. A block seems to make more sense as entire channel probably wouldn't be profitable. tvfan25 09-16-2015, 01:05 PM The article does say Nickelodeon launches a new network, not a new block. Nickelodeon's already full of pre-school cartoons. We need something for the 20-40 age generation that watched these older cartoons in the 90's. Can't wait to see the Ren and Stimpy episodes of the haunted house and the salve episode. :) Rewinder 09-17-2015, 01:21 AM I'm glad reruns of these old Nick show's will be airing again Nickelodeon shows was alot better back then than the teen crap that airs on there today, SitcomsOffline 09-18-2015, 05:16 PM There's conflicting information. Some sources are calling it a channel while others are calling it a block. A block seems to make more sense as entire channel probably wouldn't be profitable. It can work perhaps as a subchannel (I.E. Buzzr, AntennaTV, etc.) But this would explain why they suddenly went out of their way to shut down Nick Reboot (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/viacom-sues-operators-online-channel-778512), as it was up and running for a good couple of years doing exactly what "The Splat" will do without Viacom bothering them. Adem422 09-22-2015, 04:45 PM Hey everyone I got a update about when the press release will come for this and it will be in coming week or the next coming week and how i do know?? Well i'v been working hard to contact someone from viacom/nickelodeon and i did. I left a email and voicemail yesterday to Dio McCollin and she called me this morning and she didn't much to answer but that and she will email a distribution of it as soon as it comes out!! I also tried to talk to Russel Hicks-President Content Development and Production at viacom/nickelodeon and i believe hes in charge of this, But anyways i i tried to call him and his assistant answered and said he just got back from vacation and that he's really busy with calls so he left my name and number down and what the call is regarding to so he can give me a call back sometime today or tomorrow and hopefully we will see what he says and his assistant only told me yea he knows about the splat and it has to do with reboots and that's all his assistant was able to tell me. mets82 09-23-2015, 03:42 PM Good Job!!! Adem422 09-23-2015, 03:52 PM Good Job!!! If that's to me thanks!! mets82 09-23-2015, 04:32 PM Your welcome. Adem422 09-24-2015, 02:50 PM Here this the press release from the email she said she would send and she did lol http://i60.tinypic.com/fayf6d.png Its the same as the report just thought id show it lol retrofan05 09-24-2015, 03:10 PM Grr. I was really hoping this would replace Nick at Nite as I don't get TeenNick. It's interesting that they are making such a huge deal out of this when it's really not that much different than what TeenNick is already doing with "The 90's Are All That." mets82 09-24-2015, 03:23 PM I thought for a second that they were replacing Nick at Nite. :( Adem422 09-24-2015, 04:12 PM They will live stream it on their website if you don't have teennick yankeesrj12 09-24-2015, 05:19 PM Grr. I was really hoping this would replace Nick at Nite as I don't get TeenNick. It's interesting that they are making such a huge deal out of this when it's really not that much different than what TeenNick is already doing with "The 90's Are All That." Right!!! It's just a huge PR move. I wish it were on Nick too. Dumb all around. I feel cheated by Nick after all the hype. retrofan05 09-24-2015, 05:28 PM Right!!! It's just a huge PR move. I wish it were on Nick too. Dumb all around. I feel cheated by Nick after all the hype. I honestly don't know why they continue to run Nick at Nite. With what, four shows? It's a total waste of air space. mets82 09-24-2015, 05:52 PM Face it, they may never get the message. Rewinder 09-24-2015, 06:02 PM Too bad the splat won't be a subchannel Adem422 09-24-2015, 07:10 PM How can it be?? Cable channels don't do that. Also I'm still interested for like the weekly them, I wanna see week 1 which is called First time for everything and week 4 Nick Or Treat. They will be airing old bumpers/commercials/idents unedited i believe so it looks cool. TheLogoMan94 09-24-2015, 09:43 PM They will live stream it on their website if you don't have teennick Are they really? Even though I already get TeenNick, that's sounds interesting! Adem422 09-24-2015, 10:05 PM Yea Adem422 10-01-2015, 04:49 PM First night schedule 10PM/10:30 (This is listed as an hour): Pete & Pete: Burp Room/Stare Master/Mom's Plate & You Can't Do That on Television: Work/Transportation 11PM: Kenan & Kel: Pilot 11:30: Kenan & Kel: The Tainting of the Screw Midnight: Doug: Doug Bags a Neematoad 12:30: Doug: Doug Can't Dance/Doug Gets Busted 1AM: Ren & Stimpy: Stimpy's Big Day 1:30: Ren & Stimpy: Robin Hoek/Nurse Stimpy. Then the whole thing repeats. waichingliu81 10-01-2015, 05:34 PM wish the folks behind boomerang would do something similar to 'the splat' and make a network dedicated to classic cartoons from the 50s to 90s. mets82 10-01-2015, 05:42 PM So I guess if TVLand or Nick at Nite did something like this based on how there run it would be called "The Sh$%"? Adem422 10-01-2015, 06:53 PM These shows will also air the first week Splat's 1st week includes: You Can't Do That On TV, Welcome Freshman, Pete & Pete, AYAOTD, Ginger, Roundhouse, Weinerville, All Grown Up ... This according to nick and more. Adem422 10-01-2015, 07:37 PM Another update according to Nick and more Nickandmore also has a guide released on TWENTY SEVEN series that are slated for the first week of theSplat - Oct 5th-11th Those Series Are: -Aaaah! Real Monsters -Adventures of Pete & Pete -All Grown Up -All That -Angry Beavers -Are You Afraid of the Dark? -As Told By Ginger -CatDog -Clarissa Explains It All -Double Dare -Doug -GUTS -Hey Arnold! -Hey Dude -Figure It Out -Kenan & Kel -Legends of the Hidden Temple -Ren & Stimpy -Rocket Power -Rocko's Modern Life -RoundHouse -Rugrats -Salute Your Shorts -The Wild Thornberry's -Weinerville -Welcome Freshman -You Can't Do That On Television TheLogoMan94 10-01-2015, 09:34 PM wish the folks behind boomerang would do something similar to 'the splat' and make a network dedicated to classic cartoons from the 50s to 90s. Here's the sad thing about that: that was the reason why Boomerang was originally spin-off in 2000 as a channel. That reason was to show classic cartoons from (mostly) Hanna-Barbera. Now, 15 years later, 95% of the classics are gone. They must think that showing “The Flintstones” still qualifies them as a 'classic' TV network. I have no problem at all with “The Flintstones”. It's a good cartoon. factsoflife 10-01-2015, 10:04 PM I believe it will just be a block of programming airing on TeenNick, featuring classic shows, similar to "the 90's are all that." Michael cole 10-02-2015, 08:10 AM Too bad I don't get TeenNick. But no worries, I can always buy the dvds, of my favorite Nickelodeon cartoons And Shows. Hawkee 05-22-2016, 04:30 AM I've seen The Splat on TeenNick and I think Nickelodeon did a really smart move in creating The Splat by having all the 80's and 90's Nickelodeon classic game shows sitcoms and cartoons all together and having special theme weekends makes it extra unique. Like this weekend The Splat is doing an exclusive week devoted to the history of Nickelodeon Studios by showing all sitcoms and game shows that are filmed there. But I find it surprising that it seems in the game show lineup for The Splat that Double Dare Legends Of The Hidden Temple Nickelodeon Guts and Figure It Out are the only game shows The Splat has. What about Nick Arcade Get The Picture Wild And Crazy Kids What Would You Do? and Make The Grade? Also in The Splat's show lineup it seems that they should add the sitcom Taina and the shows Ship To Shore and Caitlin's Way and Animorphs because those shows were great. But I think due to The Splat's success on TeenNick Nickelodeon may make The Splat have it's own network very soon in the future ahead Bestie |
