Have you heard about this MrCleveland? I'm disappointed in Tristan that he hasn't resigned because he wants $140 million for 5 years and I think Cleveland was gonna give him $90 million for 5 years. What makes him think he's worth $140 million when he has no offense? LOL. He has no jumpshot and he only dunks when he gets the ball near the basket. He's a good rebounder and shot blocker. I get so tired of black NBA players asking for a lot of money. You rarely hear about white NBA players asking for a lot of money besides Kevin Love. I think Cleveland gave Kevin too much money because he doesn't deserve what he got because he missed most of the playoffs. Plus he shoots too many jumpshots and doesn't take the ball to the basket. He's a good rebounder but he's not a good defender.



If Tristan stays, he could be gone after this season because Cleveland is only gonna sign him for one year. If he's gone after next season, I don't care because his greed is to blame for him being off the team. He has nobody to blame but himself if he's not on the team after next season. I'm sure Lebron will be mad if Tristan leaves and I don't care about Lebron getting mad. If Lebron wants to leave again, he can go too because he's a crybaby when he doesn't get things his way. If Lebron retires with Cleveland, Cleveland is gonna have to rebuild through the draft anyway and get some young players. Management can save money by getting young players in the draft instead of having to pay a lot of money to overpaid, greedy, veteran players LOL.

Simmytbone, what you think about what I said? Kyrie Irving is gonna be out until January and that sucks. I guess Maurice Williams is gonna start in his place. Maurice played for Cleveland before when Lebron was there the first time and Maurice had some playoff success with the Cavs.

I agree with you. I saw on ESPN today that Tristan Thompson might not be playing in the preseason games if he doesn't sign a contract by Thursday. If he doesn't sign the contract, he can go because I'm tired of these players asking for more money. I'm sick of that. He should be happy with the money he's got and stop complaining. Tristan isn't a star player anyway LOL.

So much for having to do less.

It took a superhuman performance from LeBron James to drag a Cleveland Cavaliers team beset by injuries to the NBA Finals last season. That LeBron did it is a testament to his historic greatness, but it also pointed to a scary future in which a fully healthy Cavs team can run through the Eastern Conference and legitimately challenge for the title.

That part will have to wait a little longer. As if having Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love still limited in training camp wasn't enough, the Cavs announced Tuesday that Iman Shumpert would miss 12-14 weeks with a wrist injury. If you enjoyed the J.R. Smith/Matthew Dellavedova show in the Finals, you're going to love the first three months of the Cavs' season.

Last year, it took a midseason transformation for the Cavs to become the juggernaut they were by season's end. January trades for Smith, Shumpert and Timofey Mozgov filled most of their roster holes, and James' two-week sabbatical was galvanizing for him and for the team. But the reason general manager David Griffin made those trades was to get the 30-year-old James more help. He averaged a career-low 36.1 minutes per game during the regular season, but that number skyrocketed to 42.2 in the playoffs, where he openly bristled during the Finals at having to do everything for a shorthanded team.

Except for his four years in Miami, this has been the story of James' career: His dominance has pushed some teams that had no business making deep playoff runs to the brink of contention, but it's taken everything he has to do it. Between the 2012 Olympics and five straight Finals runs from 2011 to 2015, LeBron hasn't had a meaningful break from the grind in years. And with the Cavs' early-season injuries, that isn't going to change. Any hope of this being the season James can settle into a Tim Duncan-like late-career routine of rest and minutes preservation is gone.

Irving and Love are James' two most crucial teammates, but the loss of Shumpert hurts. Even without Irving, Shumpert's defensive presence on the perimeter gave the Cavs some much-needed balance. Mo Williams is an upgrade over Dellavedova at backup point guard, and his shoot-first skill set meshes nicely with Shumpert's defensive mindset, allowing Smith into his natural role as a sixth man. Now, there's a good chance the Cavs' opening-night starters in the backcourt will be Williams and Smith, which will be an epic ball-stopping spectacle.

By the end of the season, the Cavs will be fine. Between the injuries, the on-the-fly roster adjustments and the up-and-down relationship between James and David Blatt, not much more could have gone wrong last season, and Cleveland still made the Finals fairly easily, sweeping two of their three Eastern Conference playoff series. As long as LeBron is healthy, the Cavaliers are the prohibitive favorite to come out of the East. If Irving, Love and Shumpert are healthy, they might even win the title.

But the toll of heavy mileage is already weighing on James. He took two weeks off to rest in the middle of last season due to back and knee issues, which is the longest stretch of time he's missed in his pro career. By the end of the year and into the playoffs, he looked like himself again, which allowed the Cavs to do what they did. As he enters the first full season of his 30s, the key to sustaining that peak for a few more years was going to be the ability of a deep, loaded Cavs team to take the pressure off his shoulders and allow him to pick his spots in the regular season.

Having the best player in the world is a luxury that allows a team to paper over all manner of flaws. James is in that rarefied stratosphere where any team he's on is a contender as long as he's healthy. But it would be a refreshing change of pace if, for once, he could have a healthy supporting cast that would allow him to extend one of the greatest careers we've ever seen.
