Yom Kippur and Rash Hashanah are coming up soon! I know they are really big Jewish Holidays, but I don't really know much about them ! But to all the Jewish people hope you all have a great holiday! When I was a little girl in Philly, I had a little Jewish friend in the neighborhood and her family always went to Atlantic City (that was before the Gambling, it was the old fashioned Atlantic City, my Grandma used to take me and my sister there in the summer, good memories) for I'm not sure which one it was for , but the bigger of the two!

My Jewish friend's Mother was the one who was from New England and she was really cultured , I posted about her on another thread!

I used to really love Thanksgiving!!!! It's beautiful and all the delicious food. But IDK what happened? Between my Family and my Hubby's family it has become a big drama fest EVERY YEAR for as long as I remember! :( It's sad, because it really should be a nice , lovely peaceful holiday but DRAMA just seems to go along with Thanksgiving with us !!! :(

Than Christmas the family drama dies down , but it has become so commercial. we usually just keep it at a minimum and light, Religious, and good food, and Christmas cookies etc. ! With all our children grown and all, so Christmas is nice and simple! :)

Easter to me is like a new beginning, Spring time and very good memories! :) Easter Sunday was always a big thing in my Polish Catholic Family!!! And to this day I always really liked Easter! :) And Good Friday being so sad, and than Easter so joy full, but I won't get into religion right now! Colorful eggs, pretty new dresses, delicious Easter candy and adorable baskets! A lovely Mass at Church and a wonderful special dinner! ;)

Well it is ALOT of food!!!! And HEAVY food, and if you aren't a fan of turkey? Plus the pies and all! See I LOVE all that kind of food (even though it does make you sleepy)! As a kid I loved Thanksgiving. Having Thursday and Friday off from school , a four day weekend. We always went to my Aunts and she cooked the meal, and my Mom made the pies at our home and we brought them over . It was cool, laid back and all! So that is why I can't understand what is going on now! My grown sons ALWAYS seem to have some drama and my Husbands family does too, and no matter where we "celebrate' it just doesn't turn out so well! :(

I'd go with Christmas.

But this year, I'm not in the mood to decorate my house since I'm the only one living in my house. It's less than 100 days, but I have no ambition to put-up a tree, decorate my windows, or even buy gifts since I don't get what I ask anyhow...why bother?

Sounds like I'm a Scrooge, but 2015 has been another let-down year! ohno:ohno:ohno:ohno:ohno:

When I was a kid, a TV station in my area (Detroit, Michigan) would show a movie in the morning right after Good Morning America, and another movie in the afternoon. On the day after Thanksgiving They'd show The Man Called Flintstone as their morning and Hey There! It's Yogi Bear! as their afternoon movie. Between both movies they'd shoe nothing but cartoons. They stopped doing this in the 1980s, but I have DVDs of BOTH Movies, and a boatload of cartoons as well. On the day after Thanksgiving I'll fire up my trusty player and recreate that time in my childhood.

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving My folks take us downtown to see a couple of Christmas Events there, then we'd have lunch at a fancy restaurant. On the way home, we'd pick out a Christmas Tree. :tree: Those days are no more. But there are LOADS of events in the area (Most of which are :D FREE :D where I now live (Daytona Beach, Florida) and I attend as many as I can. Among them concerts, Parades, Toy Drives and an Ice Show put out by a group of Children. Another event I do on Christmas Eve, attend as many Christmas Eve Church services (Including the one at my Church), before returning before home to get some zzzs before what's coming up the next day. present:

PS I started a new tradition on Christmas Eve. Before going to bed we have an event I call "Spot Santa". Everyone sits or lays down (Depending on what kind of furniture they're on. They all look up in the sky, and when one of them sees a shooting star they yell out "There Goes Santa!" :santa: we then go off to bed.

I remember seeing cartoons on the day after Thanksgiving...they seemed to have stopped this during the 90's. That day, my mom would make us finger sandwiches and we'd play board games while watching those shows or a movie.

Since they ended that...I reenact the finger sandwiches and watching cartoons the day after Thanksgiving. I'd Watch Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Three Caballeros, cartoons of Tom and Jerry's Chuck Jones Years, Pink Panther, Loopy de Loop, A Boy Named Charlie Brown, Garfield and Friends, Sonic SatAM, Looney Tunes Cartoons, Woody Woodpecker Cartoons, The Wiz (Okay, NOT all of the things I watch that day are cartoons), and end the night by playing Sonic the Hedgehog and listening to The Beatles!

BUT...I'm not planning on doing that either the Friday after Thanksgiving this year either...ohno:ohno:ohno:ohno:ohno:

You dont sound like Scrooge. Believe me, holidays are tough when your having a crappy year. Decorating is more of a chore instead of it being fun. Just hang in there.
