I used to LOVE Birdseye pick up stix ! They were like the pizza rolls now but bigger! I even remember the jingle !:) It was a little catchy tune! ;)

"Pick up , Pick up stix, they only take a few short minutes to fix, Pick up, Pick up stix! Yeah Birdseye pick up stix "! :D

They really didn't take that long to cook, but of course you had to put them in the regular over, it was before microwaves! :)

1. Back in the early 70's Campbell Soup had a tomato soup with small O -shaped pasta. I was addicted to it during my second pregnancy. But one day it disappeared. :(

2. In the 80's I loved Cracker Jack Cereal! But for some reason it was discontinued. I never knew why! It was so yummy!:liplick:

I had never heard of Pick Up Stix or Cracker Jack cereal, but they sound good.

My entries:

-Pillsbury frozen regular size blueberry waffles (unlike Eggo's, these actually had flavor to them)

- 123 Jello (3 layer, multi-variety jello)

-Doodads snack mix (if you turned the package upside down, it spelled "spapoop")

-Barnone candy bar. Sort of a cross between a Kit Kat and a Whatchamacalit, with no shortage of chocolate and crushed peanuts. Later versions contained caramel. Lots of people want this back.

-7 up bar. Never had this as it was before my time, but it sounds so good. Basically, a box of mix chocolates in candy bar form with 7 sections, each containing a different flavor. Discontinued because it reminded people too much of 7 up the drink.

-PB Maxx - another thing I didn't get to try, but really wanted to. Sort of like the shape of a Bun, but loaded with peanut butter and peanuts. Discontinued also because of a stupid reason: The Mars folks hated peanut butter.

-Pepperidge Farm Salzburg cookies: delightfully textured mocha cookie. Discontinued, but 80 million versions of the horrid Milanos are still around.

-Swanson fish tv dinner.

-Klondike NASCAR bars. Round klondikes with caramel and peanuts.

-The big Lunchables, with 2 meats, 2 cheeses, 2 types of crackers, a chocolate mint and a packet of Dijon mustard.

-Just Right and Clusters cereal

-Bubble Eez Bubble gum. The softest bubble gum ever, shaped in a big gumball, came 6 to a pouch and had the catchiest jingle in the recorded history of Planet Earth. Apparently discontinued because some packages contained traces of cocaine (?!)

-Cheez it Twists. Two flavors in one twisted cheez it.

-lots of flavors of Snapple, including Mint tea. Didn't try some of them because Snapple has always been hard to get in my area.

Not sure if these are still around, but Catherine Clark bread and Pepperidge Farm cheese sticks, the latter of which was flat out addictive.

I never heard of Cracker Jack cereal either. I think I remember the tomato soup with pasta? What I can't find anymore that I used to like was Campbell's curly noodle soup!

-Wendy's salad bars. I'm guessing they got rid of these because they took up a lot of space in the restaurant. Also, the old Caesar side salads they had up until the mid-late 2000's. Now every salad they have has a bunch of nuts and fruit on it. Gross.

-Sweet Spots Cookies. flipping AWESOME small, circular shortbread cookies with a Heshey's kiss in the middle. Around in 1992 or thereabouts.

-Almost Home cookies. With the old-fashioned country home embroidered on the package, similar to Soft Batch.

-Giggles cookies.

-Peanut Butter putters, anyone remember these? A little before my time and I never had them, but they looked so good. Peanut butter and oats I believe, next to nothing about them on the internet.

Jimmy Dean Tastefuls. A competitor to Lunchables that offered more food: two decent size sandwiches, a bag of potato chips or other snack, and a name-brand dessert. Notable for Jimmy Dean taking a wicked verbal jab in the commercials stating that Lunchables were "not a lunch". Good concept, but the sandwiches were rather bland tasting. Perhaps a little retooling might have worked wonders.

One of my favourites thats been discontinued is GOLDEN GRAIN MACARONI AND CHEDDER!!!!! (mmmmmmmmmmmmm it was my favourite mac and cheese of all time (Sadly the company sold that division of thier company in 1986))

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=kj8jAAAAIBAJ&img=1&zoom=3&pg=6003,4770606

Here is a commercial for it.. BRINGS ME TO TEARS!!

www.youtube.com/v/TNCUEslvovY

I also miss PRE-2000 M&Ms like crazy!!

I asked the company if they would consider using WATER instead of SKIM MILK.. (It wont taste as bad as it does with SKIM MILK) They didnt reply to me.... (No surprise)

I didnt realise how much they are trying to keep this in the dark until I found a WIKI page discussing M&M candies a couple years ago and ya know how you can edit the pages??

I added in that they changed all thier candy recipes IN THE YEAR 2000 to skim milk from reg milk (I didnt comment about the taste I just added that) and my comments were removed!! (Twice I added it and both times they were deleted) -- That told me right there!!!!!!

For a year MARS lied to me saying they didnt change anything.... THEY MUST THINK IM AN IDIOT THAT CANT READ OR TASTE ANYTHING!!! (they must think most are and dont like those like ME who dont take thier BS and stand up to them)

I also used to like that Golden Grain Macaroni & Cheddar, used to buy it all the time. I often wondered what happened to that product. All of a sudden one day it was gone. Nowadays, the boxed Mac & Cheese I buy is from Kraft.

The best frozen Mac & Cheese is Stouffers. Back in the 70's, there was a frozen Mac & Cheese made by Creamettes that I used to like, but that product is long gone too.

A couple discontinued Pop Tarts flavors I miss are Frosted Grape and Frosted Dutch Apple, also Frosted Chocolate Vanilla Creme. I know sometimes Pop Tarts brings flavors back for a limited time, I'm hoping these flavors make a comeback. They have a new limited one, Frosted Blue Raspberry, I haven't tried it yet.

The grocery store near where I live no longer sells a few breakfast products that I like. I think the products are still being made, it's just the idiocy of store management that decided not to stock them anymore. The products are:

Toaster Strudel Raspberry
Toaster Strudel Boston Cream Pie
Toaster Scrambles Bacon & Sausage

There is a Wal-Mart here also, I'll have to check there and see if they have these products.

Another product I miss that also seems to be long gone from stores are these frozen banana cream pies with the graham cracker crust. Haven't seen those anywhere in years, they were tasty.

Boston Market mac and cheese is very good. I think my favorite though is from one of my local pizzerias. They have "deluxe mac & cheese" with ground beef, onions, celery and green peppers mixed in. Quite good and hearty.

I like Kraft!;) The only thing with boxed Mac & Cheese is it is really good when you first make it! But if you put the leftovers in the fridge and reheat later it isn't nearly as good! Same with Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper ,that is yummy when it's first made but in leftovers it's really bland and dried out tasting! :p

Yea that is true about boxed mac & cheese. The pasta tends to absorb the cheese sauce so it's best to eat it all right away and no leftovers. Otherwise, it will dry out and lose some flavor as well.

Some of my favorite foods restaurants no longer have: Dairy Queen's Treatzza Pizza, I had it when I was a lot younger and wish they would bring it back. And no it wasn't pizza mixed with ice cream, it was all good dessert. Also the double chocolate chip shakes alive from Steak n Shake and the navajo taco from Carlos O'Kellys, they discontinued that around a year before going out of business.

When I was a kid my mother and I used to love Twigs crackers and they were made by Nabisco and Twigs were cheese flavored crackers with sesame seeds in them and they were great but now you can't find Twigs crackers anymore since they disappeared and there isn't any crackers that taste like Nabisco Twigs today. I remember several foods from this thread, like Golden Grain Macaroni & Cheddar (used to get always), PB Max candy (once in a while), and Cracker Jack Cereal (probably had only a couple of times).

Anyone remember Kraft "Wrapples," the flat caramel on sheets that you used to form caramel apples? Came with popsicle sticks included. "That's how you make / caramel apples / with Wrapples / from Kraft!"

Candies I used to like:
"No Jelly" bar (peanut butter)
Willy Wonka Scrunch Bar

I remember once in a while I would steal a Kennedy half-dollar from my dad's stack and go blow it on candy, like Apple Stix, Munch Bars (mostly peanuts, like a brittle), Wayne Buns (clusters), Mars Bars, Oompas, Snickers... I was a rough & tumble kid.

It was all the rage in the 80's and Kellogg's used to claim that it was considered the biggest health food fad in Europe and came in flakes or bran and had a commercial that featured a classical piece and the commercial had scenes of country life. Another food that was very popular was Post's Blueberry Morning cereal and it was flakes that had blueberries mixed in it and it continued the trend of healthy cereals. It's a shame that today's cereals are now focused on kids and cereals like Kellogg's Mueslix should make a comeback to get more people eating healthy again

This makes it appear as though Kellogg’s still makes it: https://www.kelloggs.com/en_US/products/kellogg-s-mueslix-cereal-product.html

How about Betty Crocker's Mug O'Lunch meals? They debuted in the 70's and was one of the most exciting inventions in food. Betty Crocker's Mug O'Lunch meals consisted of three meals ranging from macaroni and cheese to spaghetti to beef noodles and each came in a special mug that could be used again after the food was finished. It's a shame we don't see ramen noodles and other soups being served in mugs like this because whoever invented this at the Betty Crocker factory was a genius

Indiana Popcorn Company Chocolate Drizzled. It was divine! They still make the Black & White drizzle, but I don't like white chocolate.

Yeah, the taste explosion in the middle!

There’s a pack of Freshen Up on EBay for 80 bucks. And before you mock the price, bear in mind, free shipping!

I remember Mug O Lunch too and I used to eat it! It also had a chicken noodle flavor added later. I never saw Mug O Lunch that come with a mug, there were just envelopes in a box and you used your own mug. Maybe you had a test item or a give away. There are several commercials on Youtube.

How about Suddenly Smores? They were cookies designed for the microwave and after you warmed them up they tasted exactly like smores that you ate on campouts. What about Junior Mint Cookies? They were made with Junior Mints and tasted great

Mom and I tried Jimmy Dean Tastefuls and they were the pepperoni pizzas and we only bought them because they were new and on sale at the supermarket and we disliked them a lot because the pepperoni pizzas had no flavor and tasted terrible. I had only two bites of Jimmy Dean Tastefuls and then I asked for something else because they were the worst tasting food ever. Glad I stuck to Oscar Mayer Lunchables Pizzas

How about Keebler's O'Boisies potato chips and Keebler's Pizzarias chips? I tried O'Boisies once and thought they were okay and Keebler's Pizzarias chips actually tasted like pizza. In the 80's Keebler was trying to be chip king but instead focused on their cookies and crackers rather than chips and they should try making good tasting chips again

Does anyone remember Fruitopia? It was made by Minute Maid in 1994 and was a unique juice that tasted awesome and was known for it's cool commercials. Mom and I used to buy bottles of Fruitopia to take with us when we would go shopping and when we would have our lunch breaks in the mall food court we would drink Fruitopia with our lunch. Too bad Minute Maid discontinued it because Fruitopia was a neat drink

I believe you're talking about Campbell's Noodle-O's Penny. I saw the commercial for it while doing research and I thought of you mentioning them

WWF Ice Cream Bars:

Good Humor officially discontinued these in 2009.

I saw that Good Humor has released new WWE Ice Cream Sandwiches. I haven't had one yet so I don't know how they are.

I know that the cookie is all vanilla and doesn't have a chocolate coating on the back like the old bars.

What about Promise margarine? It just disappeared and I never found out why?

I looked it up and here is why Promise margarine is discontinued:

Bowing to pressure from the Federal Trade Commission, the maker of Promise margarine agreed yesterday to stop advertising the butter substitute as a low-fat product that can help prevent heart disease

so they falsely advertised to consumers so they had to discontinue the margarine

First thing that always pops into my heads when I see threads like this; gourmet pride soups. Like cup-o-noodles, only the broth was better, it had real vegetables and MEAT, and the noodles were short, not long. Which mean they didn't get soggy.

More recently, BBQ flavored goldfish. Probably the only flavor of goldfish I can tolerate. Those were good, and then they disappeared! :(
