Last night I checked the listing for the episode that was going to be on at 3 O'Clock this morning. It was "Daddy's Little Girl". This episode featured a theme that I have seen a bunch of times since and has probably been used a bunch of times before. It started with Nell at a restaurant where she met a man that she liked. The two engaged in conversation and Nell did the best job that she could of flirting with him. Nell had to leave the restaurant before the man did. She purposely left her purse in the restaurant with the idea that the man would feel obligated to track her down to return it to her. This would give her the opportunity to flirt some more while she is in the process of thanking him for what he had done. This would, in turn, give him a second chance to ask her out. If we were to fast-forward to 1987, we come to a "Golden Girls" episode in which all three of the fifty-something women try out for parts in a play that is run by a local theater group. At the audition, there is a famous actor who all three babes have their eyes on. After the audition, Blanche leaves her purse on her chair and has to go back for it. Having to go back gives Blanche another chance to be near the man in hopes that he asks her out. He does! Next we come to an episode of "Fired Up" from 2998. In this episode, the character of Gwen (played by Sharon Lawrence) has the hots for a fireman. She signs up for a class in CPR. After class, she leave her purse in the fire station so that the fireman will have to bring it back to her. In other shows, they substitute a scarf, a hat or any other type of personal object for a purse. Some women can be really tricky in situations like these!
