In the recent past, I have started two threads about an episode of "Friends" in which Rachel was very giddy over a man named Josh. I found a lot of things about this episode very similar to the "Gimme a Break!" episode "Samantha's Protest". In this episode Katie worked her butt off to get the handsome boy from the protest to ask her for a date. She acted like a girl with no scruples what so ever! Well, the fact that I split this topic into two threads is because getting all of my ideas down at once would have made too long a story for one thread. In any event, in this "Friends" episode Rachel tried every trick in the book to get Joshua to ask her for a date. Towards the end of the episode, Rachel managed to get two tickets to a basketball game in which the New York Nicks would be playing. She figured that reason and logic would cause Joshua to realize that she wanted him to take her to the game. This would get Rachel a foot in the door. Joshua, however, missed the boat completely and thought that they were a present for him and that he could take whoever he wanted. He thanked her and said that his nephew was a huge Nicks fan! Towards the end of "Samantha's Protest", Katie was convinced that all of her flirtatious behavior had finally pain off. It was at this point that Samantha delivered her classic line "he's taking 'me' to a movie tomorrow"! It seemed to me as if the creators of "Friends" took a situation from the eighties, froze it in time and transplanted into the nineties!
