how many here get this channel? For those that do, would you consider it as one of the "retro-channels"?

SitcomsOffline 08-23-2015, 10:48 AM Short answer: Yes. It's a channel created by Fremantle Media that's dedicated solely to airing Goodson-Todman's library of game shows they own. Unfortunately, for now, this excludes The Price is Right. Buzzr also airs the Bill Carruthers libraray of game shows (mainly Press Your Luck) and the Monty Hall-produced "Let's Make a Deal," as Fremantle Media owns the rights to these shows as well. Since most of these shows were produced in the 50s - early 90s, I would consider most of them "retro." treky 08-23-2015, 05:22 PM yes, I also think it's "retro", I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks. bgva 08-23-2015, 05:44 PM Definitely retro. Would love to see my area get the channel. Becca3557 08-24-2015, 08:40 PM Retro from what I've heard. FIOS in my area was supposed to pick it up in June, but I haven't seen it. JSP 08-25-2015, 07:57 AM I hope Buzzr/Fremantle Media acquires the rights to more Goodson-Todman game shows. We see "Super Password", but let's see more "Password" and "Password Plus". Allen Ludden is a little underrepresented on the channel. To be honest, Allen Ludden never struck me as being a "warm and friendly" game show host. There were times he got visibly annoyed on camera. But still he's considered a legendary host, and if Betty White loved him enough to marry him, then he needs more representation on Buzzr. treky 08-26-2015, 03:54 AM don't hold your breath waiting for them to air episodes of the daytime version of PASSWORD-the tapes were either destroyed or erased (I forget which) YEARS ago. Same with the daytime version of HOLLYWOOD SQUARES:( :( :( JSP 08-26-2015, 05:36 AM don't hold your breath waiting for them to air episodes of the daytime version of PASSWORD-the tapes were either destroyed or erased (I forget which) YEARS ago. Same with the daytime version of HOLLYWOOD SQUARES:( :( :( They could still show episodes of the nighttime version from the 60s. And all of the Password Plus shows are in tact. Ever since I looked up the article on Wikipedia about "Lost TV Shows", I've been obsessed with game shows and the fact that just about most of them from the 60s/70s that were videotaped ended up getting erased. It really ticks me off in particular that most of the ABC run of Password from 71-75 got erased. Right now Buzzr's schedule of game shows is quite limited in my opinion, and unfortunately that's because so many old game shows got erased and are no longer with us. MrCleveland 08-26-2015, 02:00 PM I still don't have Buzzr...It'll probably come to Cleveland when Cleveland wins a Championship! |
