View Full Version : George made a indirect reference to "Charlie Angels" I knew it was no way that

But it turned out that this episode was in 1982 and Charlie's Angels ended in 1981
DJM77 08-12-2015, 05:57 AM There were some non-ABC shows that made Charlie's Angels references while it was still in production. I know that Diff'rent Strokes and Archie Bunker's Place both did.

Back then, you could make reference to another show on another network while the show was still in production. I remember, Mel from Alice told Flo, "Well Welcome back, Kotter!" in a sarcastic way, because she left and came back from somewhere. Plus, Mel had Farrah Fawcet's picture all over his apartment.

Also, Tommy from Alice was always talking about how much he loved Charlie's Angels and would dream of them chasing him.
Bonniegirl 09-17-2015, 01:56 PM Bob from one day at a time said Barbara was prettier than Farrah Fawcett! If that one counts? He said the actress, not the show.

Actually, Bob told his father that Barbara LOOKS LIKE Farrah Fawcett which is totally ridiculous!

Oh yeah! And didn't the Father say "Barbara is pretty ,but she doesn't look like Farrah Fawcett like Bob said" . Or something like that! :D
Bob had it so bad for Barbara that he was comparing her to the prettiest, most famous girl he could think of at the time! But he should have at least picked a pretty famous brunette to compare her with, because she really DIDN"T look at all like Farrah! Making Bob look like he was blind in love! :D

IMO, Farrah Fawcett is much prettier and sexier.
Barbara is pretty, but in a wholesome/Little House on the Prairie kind of way.
That's just my opinion.

Yes! They do both have that same wholesome, cute, perky quality to them!
Babalu 09-17-2015, 08:41 PM During that time, I remember CBS shows making snide remarks about shows on other networks, as if to influence people not to watch them. One that stuck with me was on Rhoda, when Rhoda's parents were having money problems. They were sitting in bed and Nancy Walker says, "Do you want to watch Johnny?" Harold Gould replies, "I'd rather not watch a guy that makes $3 million a year."

In a way I miss the 3 network, bitter rival days. Anyone remember Battle of the Network Stars?
