"Law & Order: SVU" to Tackle Robert Durst Case in Season Premiere
August 10, 2015

The Jinx is one of the biggest watercooler hits of 2015 so far, and now "Law & Order: SVU" is hoping to parlay that buzz into ratings gold.

In its two-hour season premiere, the NBC procedural will rip from the headlines surrounding alleged killer Robert Durst, who was at the center of the six-part HBO documentary.

Much like Durst, the episode revolves around a wealthy New Yorker suspected of multiple murders despite the lack of physical evidence tying him to the crimes. And just like in the finale of The Jinx, which included audio of Durst confessing that he "killed them all," a moment in the newly released "SVU" promo teases a confession made by the suspected criminal.

(Durst was arrested the day before the finale aired in June on a first-degree murder charge and is being held in a prison mental health unit near New Orleans.)
