"The Mindy Project" Enlists Fortune Feimster
August 09, 2015
by Lesley Goldberg

"The Mindy Project" isn't shying away from guest stars for its fourth season and first on Hulu.

The comedy has enlisted comedian Fortune Feimster for a recurring role, producers announced Sunday during their panel at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour.

Feimster will play a nurse and the sister of Garrett Dillahunt's Jody.

Dillahunt will play a doctor who takes over for Mindy (Mindy Kaling) while she goes on maternity leave. His character is a Southern gentleman with traditional values who believes Mindy a bit of an idiot.

"The Mindy Project" season four — which will follow a three-act structure at Hulu rather than Fox's four — debuts Sept. 15 on Hulu, with new episodes bowing weekly.

"I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the show, and I am so grateful to Hulu for giving us this opportunity,” Kaling told critics at the TV press tour. "It was a really smooth transition, and I just want to make the show better than it's ever been.”

"The Mindy Project" Ups Fortune Feimster to Series Regular in Season 4

We hope "The Mindy Project‘s" Colette is settled in Manhattan, because she’s sticking around for a while.

The Hulu comedy has made Fortune Feimster, who plays the Southern nurse, a series regular, TVLine has confirmed.

The comedienne joined "Mindy" earlier this season as the lesbian sister of Jody Kimball-Kinney, Dr. Lahiri’s maternity-leave fill-in, played by Garret Dillahunt.

Our sister site Deadline was first to report the promotion.

We need to hang on having both rough cranky old actresses Rhea Perlman and Jenny O'Hara, who played both Annette and Dot, in this show's main cast as permanents until the series finale.
