"Bones": "24's" Kim Raver to Help Find a Missing Booth (!) in Season 11
by Kimberly Roots
August 5, 2015

"Bones‘" latest casting indicates that Booth and Brennan’s big adventure won’t go quite as planned.

Kim Raver (24) will appear in the Fox drama’s 11th season as Grace Miller, a FBI special agent brought in to assist the investigation surrounding Booth’s disappearance, TVLine has learned.

Raver’s character will be part of the first two episodes of the season.

"Bones" fans will remember that Brennan and Booth ended Season 10 agreeing to make a fresh start outside the Jeffersonian after indications that their old enemy Pelant might not be as dead as previously believed.

No word yet on whether Booth being MIA has anything to do with the flower-happy villain.

"Bones" returns on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 8/7c.

First Look at Kim Raver on "Bones"

Kim Raver will find herself in Jack Bauer-mode this fall when she joins "Bones" for a special arc that, coincidentally, will feel very reminiscent of "24".

“It’s a true thriller — somewhere between a traditional Bones and an episode of 24,” exec producer Michael Peterson tells TVLine of Season 11’s opening two-episode salvo, which kicks off on Oct. 1 and revolves around the search for David Boreanaz’ Booth.

Raver plays FBI special agent Grace Miller, who is brought in to assist the investigation surrounding Booth’s disappearance.

As of now, her G-woman is slated to exit on Oct. 8, but Peterson says he “absolutely loved having her,” adding, “We’re finding ways to get her back.”

Kim Raver Previews "Bones" Guest Spot
by Matt Webb Mitovich

As "Bones" opens Season 11 this Thursday at 8/7c, someone is dead — which is, of course, B.A.U. for the Fox drama. But what’s new is that Seeley Booth shapes up to be a suspect in the slaying. Worse, he’s gone missing.

Jumping on the G-man’s trail is FBI Special Agent Grace Miller, played by Kim Raver, who knows a thing or two about racing against the clock in the name of justice, having spent a few “days” on "24".

“Booth is missing and she comes in to figure out what’s going on,” Raver previews.

“And in her mind, all of the evidence sort of leads to him possibly being a suspect, which of course raises the hairs on everyone else’s backs. But for Miller, Booth has not been the ‘perfect’ guy that everyone else sees him as,” the actress warns.

“She rightfully brings up a lot of his past, and that’s where a lot of the contention comes in.”

Chief among those clashing with Miller’s theories is Booth’s wife Brennan, who usually is an advocate of cold, hard facts. But not this time.

“It’s interesting, because Brennan as a character is very used to dealing with things that are beyond dispute,” Raver notes, “whereas in this case, the facts, laid out a certain way, might not be something she like seeing.”

“Because she has a personal involvement with the case, being her husband and all, it totally changes the game,” Raver adds.

“It's fun and also different to guest-star on an established series,” Raver says. “You want the character to be accessible to people, but you can definitely shake things up a little bit more.”

As Special Agent Miller investigates Booth's vanishing (and possible role in a murder), she butts heads with Brennan, “which was really fun to play because Emily Deschanel and I get along so well,” Raver relates.

“It's certainly tense between the two of them, because at first you see my character coming at it purely as a professional. But as other things start revealing themselves, it makes it really layered and great.”

And though Raver is no stranger to gunplay from her myriad roles, packing on-screen heat is still “scary,” she attests.

“I literally was one of those people on set like, 'I have to check it. Let me check it. Let me see the gun. Let me check it.'”
