We're thinking of an episode -- maybe a 2-parter -- where Vicki & a boy about her age leave the boat and go to the beach. The boy (who perhaps had a disability) didn't want to go back to the boat, and the two may have spent the night at the beach.

I believe this episode was from season eight. Haven't seen it in a very long time, but I remember that it was when they went to the Caribbean.

I think you're correct, a synopsis of episodes 26+27 "Letting go" in season 8 sounds like the one. Unfortunately MeTV may only have the broadcast rights to the first five seasons, & they're only showing one per week.
