View Full Version : Identical twins on todays ep.
Bonniegirl 08-01-2015, 05:30 PM They are David and Andy Williams. Identical twin nephews of singer Andy Williams. They were on the ep that was just on. They both had a crush on Laurie and were vying for her attention! LOL!!! :D They were just kids, way too young for her! :D
If that were them really singing, they weren't bad. Funny they didn't get more popular? An identical twin singing act. How cool? ;)

bg, if you're watching the Partridge Family, keep an eye out for Pat Harrington in 2 episodes, and Michael Lembeck in 1, which also features his father Harvey.

Yeah. I do know about Michael and Harvey!! ;) I've seen it a few times and didn't know who they were and thought Michael was cute though! After ODAAT when I was researching him I was like Oh yeah, I saw him on the Partridge family! :) I don't remember Pat Harrington on there though!?
I will look out for those eps. when the marathon comes on in a couple weeks! ;)

Pat Harrington played a Las Vegas mobster who mistakenly thought Danny was trying to steal his girl when he was really teaching her about the stock market. So he sends to of his goons to "rough up" Danny not realizing he was a 10 year old boy. Vic Tayback from "Alice" played one of the goons!

OMG yeah!! I remember that ep.! And I have seen it in reruns and knew it was Pat come to think of it! ;)

Didn't Vic Tayback play a goon in an episode of The Monkees too?

I think so! ;)
Pat's other appearance was when Shirley dated ambassador Richard Mulligan. He was the guys assistant.
As for those twins, the only mention of them in The Partridge Family Album book is that they had an extremely brief career as heartthrobs in Tiger Beat magazine.

I remember Richard Mulligan being on! ;) Did he guest star twice? Cause I sort of remember him being a doctor? Shirley took (I think is was Tracy) to a doctor's appointment, and he worked in the same medical building as her doctor. Shirley saw him there and he was an old boyfriend of hers and they reconnected? Or am I thinking of another actor?
Or was the doctor the one with Bert Convy? I remember him being on as a boyfriend of Shirley's too?
It's cool seeing reruns and all the old stars huh? :)
Back to the book, you're right about Mulligan, and Bert Convy was on 3 times, as 2 different characters. In his last one, Jodie Foster was his daughter.
Bonniegirl 08-03-2015, 07:48 PM Those twins kind of look like older versions of Wesley Owens from Mr. Belvedere!

Richard Mulligan played the doctor who had delivered all of Shirley's children. He wantesd to reconnect with Shirley but only to sell some songs he had written to the Partridge Family. Bert Convey first appeared as an employee at Marineland in the episode where the Partridges recorded a song with a whale. He later appeared as a congressional candidate who lost the election but won Shirley's heart. In his second appearance as this character Jody Foster played his daughter.

Yeah the one on the right sure does. I wonder which brother of Andys was the father of the twins. I read or saw on tv Andy had 3 brothers.
IllinoisTVFan 08-16-2015, 01:59 AM I vaguely remember hearing about these two guys and that they were pumped to be the next big thing. The problem is by the time they appeared the show was on its way down.

Sadly for the Williams twins little Rickey got there first!! ;)
IllinoisTVFan 08-16-2015, 09:46 PM Ugh, Ricky. I hated him and always turn off his episodes.

It seems you are of a generation that watches re-runs of 1970s shows (in this case the Partridge Family) and was not there when those shows were still on the air. (Lucky in a way).
Andy and David Williams were given lots of coverage in the teen magazines back in the 70s. Yet they did not become as big as the other teen idols of that time such as David Cassidy ( of course) and The Osmond Brothers.
Surprisingly, The Monkees were mostly considered an "Older group of the 60s" by then.
Andy and David Williams eventually faded into obscurity though they continued to perform in bands without much fanfare. Reportedly, music critics consider them to be very good musicians.
I remember reading about the "Andy and David Williams episode" that was to air on The Partridge Family, but (though I was around at that time) I did not see the originally-aired broadcast. I actually saw it many years later on YouTube.
Back when I was a teen, it seemed that Andy and David Williams were already in their late teens when they came on the scene. They were born the same year I was . It means that they actually were a few months to a year younger than Danny Bonaduce. However the twins were a bit tall for their age and had deep voices. They seemed to be just about to exit their teen years.
Danny Bonaduce was still shorter than David Cassidy and Susan Dey.
In the episode, they still seem to be about the same age as Lori Partridge.

IllinoisTVFan 01-17-2016, 02:22 PM Seems the 70's was a decade for many of these would be stars. I remember seeing a story on these performers (name escapes me but not these guys)who were making the rounds on every show in the late 70's. They had music out too but went nowhere.

You might be talking about the Keane Brothers. They were also promoted on the teen magazines just like Andy and David Williams were.
The Keane Brothers did seem talented and played their own instruments and even wrote their own songs, however at the time, as you said, it was a decade of very young would-be stars and there were already-established ones such as the Osmonds and Jackson 5, and perhaps it was a matter of luck as to which ones got to become big, and the others were fated to eventually become forgotten teen-idol wana-bes of the 70s. The Keane Brothers were even given a variety show of their own. Apparently an attempt to make it like the Donny and Marie show. It did not last long. They were not twins but one was approximately 13 and the other approximately 12. They were sons of a record producer by the name of Bob Keane ( if I correctly recall what I read in either Tiger Beat or 16 magazine).
The Keane Brothers appeared on the Tonight Show, on the Dinah Shore Show and on the Mike Douglas Show and also Wonderama. See the link below.
Their various performances on TV talk shows were essentially after the early and mid 70s.
It seemed that there were a bit too many "Upcoming teen idols" and the then-current generation of young females were already transitioning in age so that the ones who grew up swooning over David Cassidy would not be interested. There might have been a population of "Tween" girls ( before the word "Tween" was invented) that might have found the Keane Brothers
"cute" but somehow the fan base for "cute" young male singers and musicians was just not there.
The Keane Brothers would have been completely forgotten (along with Andy and David Williams) if it were not for the Internet and YouTube so as to at least give us a glimpse of what kind of trends there were in the entertainment world back in the 70s.

IllinoisTVFan 01-17-2016, 10:52 PM That's it! Thanks you I knew the name began with a K but couldn't remember the name.
biffbronson 01-17-2016, 11:03 PM I have a thing for Andy Williams' former wife Claudine Longet. She's on my list of all-time hottest celebrity brunettes.

IllinoisTVFan 01-17-2016, 11:20 PM That's a different Andy Williams. According to Wikipedia (I know)they are his nephews.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but the Williams brothers in my eyes, came across as a tad bit creepy and weird in that episode. They both spoke in these flat, monotone voices.
