View Full Version : Trish, the Dish?
LittleRickyII 07-29-2015, 12:12 AM I turned on ODAAT during the last couple minutes of the second episode tonight and saw Julie stuffing her blouse with Kleenex, and she made reference to a well-endowed girl named Trish. At that moment, deep from the recesses of my mind a memory came back to me of a character named Trish, the Dish. I'm thinking I heard that name on ODAAT in this episode 40 years ago. Am I dreaming this up or was there really a character in the episode tonight with that name?

No you are not dreaming! Yes indeed, Julie and Barbara were referring to her as "Trish the dish" ! ;) Julie was jealous because a boy she liked, Jeff started dating "Trish the dish" who was busty and wore a lot of makeup! :D Hence the reason Julie was stuffing her bra with Kleenex cause Jeff stopped over for some homework help. But that was just an excuse, he was tired of Trish, cause she was fake and Julie was more natural and he wanted to ask her out! :D
The actor who played Jeff was Rory Stevens who played Chuckie Murdock on Leave it to Beaver! Yep that little blonde pesty neighbor kid of the Cleavers! :) He grew up cute. I loved his blonde "surfer hair"! The first of Julie's cute boyfriends to show up in the series! :)

Thanks for confirming that! Your description is totally bring this memory back to me! It's so weird because I haven't seen that episode since 1975, and I remember my mom and my sister laughing about that "Trish, the dish" line. I only saw the very end of the episode tonight and only heard Julie refer to her as Trish, but in my head I'm thinking, she's talking about "Trish, the Dish!" I wish I had seen the part of the episode where she actually says that. I seem to remember there being a conversation between Julie and Barbara where the name was first mentioned and it got a big laugh. I think Barbara says something like, "You mean Trish the Dish?" I probably haven't thought about this since then, nearly 40 years ago, which is why it feels so weird for this memory to resurface now. We're about the same age, Bonniegirl, so this is something out of my childhood and it's transporting me back in time. It's a very strange feeling.
And OMG, that was little Chuckie, who Beaver lost in the store???! I only saw the end of the episode, so I saw the blond guy. Something about him felt familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I wouldn't have guessed that was little Chuckie! Wow, all grown up! That's so cool!
Trish the dish. Referred to in the early days, but never seen.

Yeah. Rory Stevens guest starred in a lot of shows after playing Chuckie. Chuckie was the role he played the most. :) I actually researched the character Jeff on the first go round of ODAAT on Antenna, and found out he was Rory/Chuckie. IDK why I didn't post it than? I guess I wasn't sure if there were Leave it to Beaver fans on the ODAAT threads! :)

Yeah it seemed like they didn't show a lot of the girls that were mentioned on ODAAT The boys yes, but not the girls. Like Their friend Karen and I think there was a friend named Trudy? They never came over and hung out at the apartment ! Only in the party ep scenes and that girl who clung on to Barbara and tried to commit suicide, she came over. But their main friends never came over like real life teen girls do. I remember as a teenager my friends and I practically LIVED at each others houses! :)
Bonniegirl 07-29-2015, 01:33 AM More Rory Stevens as Chuckie ( I can't seem to find any pics of him older, he played in the movie "Carrie" too) !

That's the one where he got lost in the shoe store. Now who's the kid who thought Beaver had been turned into a rock?

I just found my answer. This episode: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0630191/
The little boy was Benjie, played by Joey Scott, who is a producer now! I get him confused with Chuckie.

I wonder if Rory Stevens who played Chuckie was related to Rusty Stevens who played Larry Mondello?

Yeah, in Carrie he plays one of John Travolta's friends.
He's also in another Piper Laurie horror flick, 'Ruby', which was released a year after 'Carrie', and the 1978 teen sex comedy Malibu Beach.
I took a couple of screen shots of him from Malibu Beach. He plays a character named Charlie. He doesn't have much dialogue, and most of his scenes he's always moving, dancing, so it was hard to get pics of him where you could see his face. (Except the two below, most of the time when he's on screen it's a side view.)
This is from the beginning of the movie, high school just let out for the summer. Rory is just sitting up after the 2 actors in the background just tackled him.

This scene he's getting stoned at a beach bonfire party.

That's a good question! If you Google their names together, you'll find comments from several people saying they think Rory is Rusty's little brother, including here: http://themccainranch.myfreeforum.org/index.php?component=content&topicid=3329
I seem to recall a conversation about this on the LITB board, but I don't know of anything confirming that they are brothers. Rusty, these days, is back on the East Coast, out of showbiz.

Thanks Torgo!!! He is WAY cute!!! ;) :) He TOTALLY looks like a stoner/surfer dude! :D I thought that last night seeing him on ODAAT! :)

Yes !! Rusty and Rory are brothers!;) Also Tiger and Stanley Fafara were brothers too! ( Tooey and Whitey )!!! :)

I always get Chuckie and Benjie mixed up too! Whenever I'm remembering a LITB episode with a little boy from the neighborhood , I don't remember if it's Chuckie or Benjie in the ep!

I never paid any attention to the fact that they were 2 different characters.
visaman666 07-30-2015, 12:30 AM I think Trish was the daughter of Nurse Dish on M*A*S*H*.

Here is Benjie Bellamy ( cool name huh ) ? He and Chuckie were very similar!!! ;) I wonder why they had two little blonde boys that looked so similar? Why not just have one or the other? But cool for them, two kids got jobs! ;)
LOL This thread morphed into a Leave it to Beaver thread! On a sad note it could be kind of related to ODAAT!!! Stanley Fafara who played Whitey Whitney had addiction problems like Mackenzie Phillips. He started drinking heavily and addicted to heroin! He would get clean and sober but relapse Ended up in Skid row in Portland. He wasn't as lucky as Mack though. He passed away at 54!

The Beaver guy was on One Day, so perfectly natural flow of conversation.Chester Tate was on last night if anyone wants to talk about SOAP.

Oh yeah. The horn dog that wanted to "interview" Ann at her apartment!
PracTz 07-30-2015, 06:46 PM Back to Trish herself, I think it was best she stayed an offscreen character others referred to than actually depicted. This way the audience could decide whether she lived up to her billing.

Yeah I agree! ;)
A question for the guys here. Realistically would a good looking teenage guy pick a plainer, flatter chested girl over a busty girl that was really good looking in the face too?
I'm thinking to fool around with, he'd like Trish the Dish. But if he didn't really find her to have a great personality he would rather have the plainer, flatter girl as a girlfriend. And it led you to believe Trish was a bit superficial and fake, wearing maybe too much makeup and false eyelashes and all. And that surfer dude seemed like he'd be into a more natural face look. But IDK a horny teenage boy and a pretty girl with big breasts would be appealing!! LOL!!! What do you guys think?
So do you think he would have really picked Julie over Trish. Lucky Julie he was CUTE!! I wish they had kept him as her steady that she ran away with instead of Chuck! Chuck didn't "curl my toes" so to speak!! LOL!!!

The thing about that episode, if you saw and remember the beginning, is it seems there's a math teacher in Indianapolis that the authorities really need to be notified about.

Yeah, I know it was 1975 though! Older men could be inappropriate with an underage girl and it wasn't reported and/or not taken as seriously back than, if he didn't really actually "do anything" Or even if he did , it's hard for me to explain exactly what I mean but, that's just how it was, believe me I was a young girl than! !!!!!

That was so sad about Stanley Fafara. Where has the time gone? I can't believe it's been almost 12 years since he passed away. He used to post on the Leave It to Beaver board here on sitcomsonline, which was very exciting to fans of the show. Then all of a sudden he was gone. It was pretty shocking and terribly sad. He was half of another brother duo her performed on Leave It to Beaver. His brother, "Tiger" Luke Fafara, played Tooey.
By the way, this is a thread Stanley started. Such a nice guy. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=66243&highlight=stanley+fafara

Wow!! Stanley posted on the LITB boards. How cool! ;) It is sad about his death.:( A shame he got so into the drinking and drugs. So many child stars take that path. It's sad! He seemed like nice person too! :(

I got my answer, actually two!! I posted my inquiry about Benjie and Chuckie on another message forum, and I got two replies . One was that Benjie came first, he was in earlier eps. So he got a little too old and that is why they got Chuckie, who was in later eps.! ;) Another theory is that Benjie was in the old neighborhood, and when the Cleavers moved Chuckie was in the new neighborhood! ;)
Bonniegirl 08-11-2015, 12:15 AM Trish the Dish was mentioned again in yesterdays ep "Barbara's emergence"
Bonniegirl 11-19-2015, 09:34 PM Bumping up this thread because ---------
The second ep tonight will be the first reference to "Trish the dish"!!!! Also Julie's cute blonde boyfriend Jeff will be on! ( Chuckie Murdock from Leave it to Beaver)!!!!
A shame Jeff didn't play her boy friend on more eps!!!! Baby Annie looked more like she should be Jeff's daughter than Max's !!! LOL!!!
OMG!!! Munsters is on now, and speaking of Leave it to Beaver, Eddie Haskell (Ken Osmond) is in this ep!!!!! ;) So far Bonnie hasn't shown up yet!
