I made the team."), which I had forgotten got a callback in the finale. I like it when it works out the last and first episode of a series wind up back to back. And the show starts NOW. billybatts 07-27-2015, 11:36 PM I must have missed something. They just showed the Schnieder back-door pilot episode, then jumped back to the beginning. Was that the finale? Never saw the Max/Barbara ep. LittleRickyII 07-27-2015, 11:41 PM They just showed the Schnieder back-door pilot episode, then jumped back to the beginning. Was that the finale? Yes. Bonniegirl 07-28-2015, 12:07 AM I must have missed something. They just showed the Schnieder back-door pilot episode, then jumped back to the beginning. Was that the finale? Never saw the Max/Barbara ep. You missed a GOOD one!!!! :( 1960'sTVfan 07-28-2015, 10:18 AM I wonder why the 1st season of this show is the only one out on DVD? I think Sony's DVD department went out of business, but I don't know why Shout Factory hasn't picked this show up. Shout has released other Norman Lear shows, so why not One Day At A Time? Maybe the 1st season DVD sold so poorly? '80sSitcoms 07-28-2015, 10:45 AM Maybe the 1st season DVD sold so poorly? That's most likely why. opus 07-28-2015, 12:39 PM Schneider was so creepy in the pilot, what with "a wife downstairs" and everything else, it's surprising the audience didn't leap thru their tvs and throttle him. Bonniegirl 07-28-2015, 01:30 PM Schneider was so creepy in the pilot, what with "a wife downstairs" and everything else, it's surprising the audience didn't leap thru their tvs and throttle him. Yeah , so what ended up happening to his wife? They just decided he didn't need to have a wife and made him single? Like we all would forget he said that in the first ep.? Or maybe something sinister. (Forgive me people I watch a lot of Investigative discovery crime TV)! Maybe he killed her and buried her behind the apartment building! Than the last ep. in season 9 should have been the body discovered , and Schneider being arrested! That would really make the show go out in a BANG!!! Rather than Schneider moving down to Florida with circus folks!!!  :D '80sSitcoms 07-28-2015, 02:39 PM Like we all would forget he said that in the first ep.? I did, lol :) And did anyone else ever wonder if there was ever any "tenant jealousy" in that building? I mean, the super gets so involved with a new family in the building and was like a part of their family for 9 freaking years, lol...I wonder if any other tenants, especially on that same floor, notice that and got jealous or gossiped? 1960'sTVfan 07-28-2015, 03:14 PM That's most likely why. Men (for the most part) are the ones who buy and collect DVD's of TV shows. One Day At A Time is mainly known as a women's sitcom, the three lead characters are female. Maybe that's why the 1st season DVD had low sales. The show isn't very popular among men. LittleRickyII 07-28-2015, 04:11 PM Yeah , so what ended up happening to his wife? The plot thickens. '80sSitcoms 07-28-2015, 04:23 PM Men (for the most part) are the ones who buy and collect DVD's of TV shows. One Day At A Time is mainly known as a women's sitcom, the three lead characters are female. Maybe that's why the 1st season DVD had low sales. The show isn't very popular among men. But you have female driven shows that have successful DVD releases of multiple seasons, some even entire releases. Just look at: The Golden Girls Designing Women The Facts of Life The Nanny One show that's had surprisingly low sales is season 1 of Who's the Boss? . opus 07-28-2015, 05:01 PM Men (for the most part) are the ones who buy and collect DVD's of TV shows. I know right? What the heck did Schneider do before they moved in? They were like his whole life! He must have been pretty bored except for his lodge, and his friend Beer belly!:D I wonder how many units were in that apartment complex? Were there 3 or 4 floors? Ann and the girls lived on the 3rd right? BigManMike 07-28-2015, 11:32 PM And those idiots at Antenna TV are still crunching the credits. So I still won't be watching. They must be editing it and changing where the commercials go because I don't believe these prints were intended to be shown the way they do. They show them correctly on Sunday's though. I guess that's the only time I can watch this show. TVFactFan 07-29-2015, 12:39 AM I must have missed something. They just showed the Schnieder back-door pilot episode, then jumped back to the beginning. Was that the finale? Never saw the Max/Barbara ep. What the heck did Schneider do before they moved in? They were like his whole life! Exactly, lol...or maybe it's like a Twilight Zone thing where Schneider becomes intimately involved in the lives of whomever lives in that apartment, lol. He must have been pretty bored except for his lodge, and his friend Beer belly!:D lol, I wish they had never shown Beer Belly. He's one of those TV characters that better exists in the viewer's imagination than actually seen on the screen. When we did "meet" him, he wasn't how I pictured him, and I was disappointed. So I'll stick to my own picture of him in my head, lol. I wonder how many units were in that apartment complex? Were there 3 or 4 floors? Ann and the girls lived on the 3rd right? And there were actually three different Beer Bellies!! ;) The one that stands out for me is the big fat guy at Schneider's party when he proposed to Ginny! Than I remember a different guy in an ep where Beer Belly and his wife were having marital problems , who was a different guy than was at the party. But I don't remember the third Beer Belly? This is another reason I am re watching , for little things like this! LOL I must be pretty bored to be looking out for eps. with Beer belly in them , huh? I'm the type of person that little insignificant trivial things like that amuse me! :D And baby Annie. Can you believe 6 babies actually played her in that short of time? Yep!! 3 sets of identical twins! Isn't that crazy? Remember she started out as a little blonde/blue eyed girl and I made the thread how she didn't look like Julie or Max? Than as they showed her later she was darker! LOL!!! Yep!!! 3 sets of twins, therefore technically there were 6 babies that played Annie! ;) '80sSitcoms 07-29-2015, 01:25 PM There was more than one actor who played Beer belly! The one I remember was the marital problem one, and the mud wrestling one---weren't they the same guy? lol But I don't remember the third Beer Belly? I sure don't either, I only remembered one, and apparently none of them are how I picture Beer Belly, lol. *Update* Okay I just looked at IMDB too, and the one I remember is Chuck McCann, who appeared the most (3 episodes). Maybe another one was edited out of syndication if you can't remember him? This is another reason I am re watching , for little things like this! LOL I must be pretty bored to be looking out for eps. with Beer belly in them , huh? I'm the type of person that little insignificant trivial things like that amuse me! :D I'm the same way, lol. Bonniegirl 07-29-2015, 01:31 PM Yeah ! The "Beer Belly" from Schneider's party (season 2) was REALLY a beer belly!! LOL!!! By his weight , he looked like he consumed ALOT of beer! He was like a total red neck . LOL!! He was up dancing if I remember correctly? I don't really have time now, but later I can look up IMdB again and list all three actors and post them and what eps they were in! Bonniegirl 07-29-2015, 11:12 PM OK here we go!! Chuck McCann was actually the third person to play "Beer Belly"! He was in the Marital problem ep., the mud wrestling ep. and an ep called " Plain favorite"! He was last, but not least! He had three eps. as "Beer Belly" under his belt! The first Beer Belly was an actor named Jim B. Smith. He was Beer Belly in the Runaways eps. When Julie ran away with Chuck . The 3 parter from season 2 premier ! For the life of me I don't remember him? I'm thinking he was one of Schneider's CB radio buddies that were trying to help him find Julie and Chuck? Remember Schneider was on a CB with trucker friends trying to help find them? I think maybe we were just hearing the voice of Beer Belly, but he never was actually shown? But IDK, maybe he was , and I don't remember? We will find out soon, the ep should be on in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner! The second Beer Belly was an actor named Lee McLaughlin! The fat guy Beer Belly from Schneider's party when he proposed to Ginny in season 2! Than Chuck McCann in 3 eps later on!!! visaman666 07-30-2015, 12:40 AM ...Did anyone else ever wonder if there was ever any "tenant jealousy" in that building? I doubt he was even shown on screen at all, even in the original broadcast. They most likely just credited the guy who voiced big ol' Beer Belly, lol. I don't think the Evan's were too thrilled when Bookman barged in, whenever he felt like it. Who? OMG!! Bookman was the Super on Good Times!!! That poster was comparing him entering the tenants apt. like Schneider does! :) '80sSitcoms 07-30-2015, 02:57 PM Bookman was the Super on Good Times!!! Bonniegirl 07-30-2015, 04:14 PM I know he was comparing, I've just never seen much GT so I didn't know what show he meant, lol. LOL!! Yeah. Bookman was a heavy set man and they called him "Buffalo Butt"! :D He didn't come in as much as Schneider did though. I thought Mr. Bookman was a nice guy actually! I didn't mind Schneider either ! ;) TVFactFan 07-30-2015, 09:56 PM I don't think the Evan's were too thrilled when Bookman barged in, whenever he felt like it. But it wasn't every episode like Schneider lol Bonniegirl 07-30-2015, 10:16 PM But it wasn't every episode like Schneider lol. Yeah! Bookman AKA "Buffalo Butt" wasn't in every scene and episode, he was more of a side character! Schneider was in every ep pretty much , and I didn't dislike him per sey, but it did get old, he wasn't needed that much! Maybe if they had made him more like the Mr. Bookman character it would have been better! ;) TVFactFan 07-31-2015, 12:07 AM . Apparently on July 28th I thought he murdered his wife! 1960'sTVfan 11-20-2015, 01:43 PM Something I noticed yesterday in the episode Chicago Rendezvous. The scene in the girls bedroom when Ann goes in to talk to them. Elton John's Rocket Man is heard in the background, but the LP Barbara had on the record player is not an Elton John album. How do I know this? The LP on the record player had a green, red, and white label, which is the label for Atlantic records. In the 1970's, Elton John recorded for MCA. So the question is: What album was on the record player? Someone ask Val, maybe she would remember. This episode first aired in December 1975. It would have had to be one of the recording artists from the Atlantic label. ABBA recorded for Atlantic in 1975, maybe it was an ABBA album. |
