TVFactFan 07-18-2015, 04:07 PM I like to nominate Jack's Navy Pal as the WORST EPISODE EVER!!! Poor Jack I vote for the one with his Dad JackJanetChrissy 07-18-2015, 10:18 PM I vote for Jack's Navy Pal, too! Not fun at all. TVFactFan 07-18-2015, 10:22 PM I vote for Jack's Navy Pal, too! Not fun at all. I agree it wasn't your typical light three's company episode Jinxey 07-18-2015, 11:14 PM I wish there was a tag scene where either They find out the guy isn't really blind and gets the crap kicked out of him OR Janet & Chrissy feel so bad for Jack, they give him a threesome lol TVFactFan 07-18-2015, 11:48 PM I wish there was a tag scene where either They find out the guy isn't really blind and gets the crap kicked out of him OR Janet & Chrissy feel so bad for Jack, they give him a threesome lol The tag scene is on the DVD isn't it? Jinxey 07-20-2015, 08:44 PM The tag scene is on the DVD isn't it? It probably is, but I don't have it. lol JSP 07-20-2015, 09:32 PM I wish there was a tag scene where either They find out the guy isn't really blind and gets the crap kicked out of him OR Janet & Chrissy feel so bad for Jack, they give him a threesome lol Definitely not the former. I would say it's closer to the latter than the former, but it's definitely still miles away from the latter. Not sure if I should give the scene away or not. Buy the DVDs! Mace Dolex 07-23-2015, 11:30 PM I like to nominate Jack's Navy Pal as the WORST EPISODE EVER!!! Poor Jack Care to give your reasons why you dislike it? I find it has some funny moments in it. My vote for worst episode is from season 7,' "Bob and Carol, and Teri and Larry". TVFactFan 07-23-2015, 11:50 PM Care to give your reasons why you dislike it? I find it has some funny moments in it. My vote for worst episode is from season 7,' "Bob and Carol, and Teri and Larry". Bob and Carol was FUN and LIGHT Jack's Navy pal involved some blind weirdo destroying the trio's apartment and Jack's Jaw bone:lol: JackJanetChrissy 07-24-2015, 11:39 AM Care to give your reasons why you dislike it? I find it has some funny moments in it. My vote for worst episode is from season 7,' "Bob and Carol, and Teri and Larry". I know I dislike "Jack's Navy Pal" because it seems terribly unfair to Jack and the trio in general without a satisfying ending. The bad guy does not get punished. He hits Jack TWICE and trashes the apartment and ruins a dinner party, leaving the roommates to pay for the damages he caused. It's just very out of character for a show that is generally lighthearted and prone to happy endings and lifting up its characters. "Jack's Navy Pal" definitely had some funny moments, but for the reasons stated above, I dislike its mean-spirited nature. It feels like a downer. It almost seems like the writers didn't like Jack in this episode, which is weird, since Jack is the hero and usually lifted up by the end of the episode. jacktripperfan 07-24-2015, 03:15 PM I know I dislike "Jack's Navy Pal" because it seems terribly unfair to Jack and the trio in general without a satisfying ending. Whenever I watch Three's Company DVD's, I usually skip this episode, because to be honest, there are not many funny moments in it, and it's a departure from a normal episode. I think it could have been written better. For example, to either have his pal apologize to Jack for hitting him and for trashing his apartment, and they become friends again. Or, maybe have the scenes take place at the Reagle Beagle and not the apartment, would have been funny to see him knocking beer in everyone's lap :) JSP 07-24-2015, 06:08 PM Exactly. The writers seemed to try to say hitting a blind man was wrong in any circumstance, but when the blind man is asking for trouble and causing all sorts of CRIMES? I think we could have forgave Jack for slugging him. JackJanetChrissy 07-24-2015, 08:21 PM Or if Jack would have just hit the guy, all the suffering would have been worth it. The writers seemed very careful about sending a message of "you're not supposed to hit a handicapped person," but then they make it unfair from every angle. Mace Dolex 07-24-2015, 11:29 PM You hit the nail on the head. I think in todays current trend of vulgar raunchy sitcoms an episode like that would be the norm. TVFactFan 07-24-2015, 11:30 PM Regardless of what the blind man was doing, you can't hit a man who is blind JSP 07-24-2015, 11:38 PM Regardless of what the blind man was doing, you can't hit a man who is blind Can you at least tie him up so he can't cause anymore damage while you're waiting for the police to come over? TVFactFan 07-24-2015, 11:38 PM Can you at least tie him up so he can't cause anymore damage while you're waiting for the police to come over? Now that you can do JSP 07-24-2015, 11:40 PM I still say if handicapped people want to be treated like anybody else they need to realize they're not going to get away with being a jerk just like a non-handicapped person wouldn't be able to. Being blind doesn't mean you can be a jerk to people. I think this episode sends the wrong message to the audience. Bonniegirl 07-25-2015, 12:30 AM Plus the actor (David Dukes) was the same guy who sexually assaulted Edith on All in the Family! Nothing says TV sitcom justice to this man more than George Jefferson calling him honkey, or Edith smashing a burnt cake in his face Bonniegirl 07-23-2016, 10:50 AM It's almost like in order to watch this episode, you have to watch that Jefferson's episode (George & The President) and All In The Family episode (Edith's 50th Birthday) right afterwards. Mr. Roper just sat there and watched a guy wreck his furnished apartment....give me a break! TVFactFan 07-23-2016, 04:13 PM Well the blind man did stop Mr. Roper from raising their rent LOL JackJanetChrissy 07-23-2016, 04:23 PM Well the blind man did stop Mr. Roper from raising their rent LOL Yeah but Roper didn't gain anything...the trio had to pay for the broken furniture which he would have to replace. Sounded good but really Mr. Roper did not get anything out of that. Plus, if he didn't raise the rent on them, how could he do that for another furnished apartment in the same building? lol TVFactFan 07-23-2016, 04:24 PM The other question I had when watching Jack's Navy Pal is why nobody called the POLICE??? No fair making the trio pay for the damages. JackJanetChrissy 07-23-2016, 06:46 PM If he raised the rent for another furnished apt how would those tenants know that Jack and the girls rent wasn't raised? lol Because they all talked to each other. That's how Janet knew at the beginning of the episode that Roper had raised the rent for apt 305. TVFactFan 07-23-2016, 06:50 PM Because they all talked to each other. DJM77 07-24-2016, 11:07 AM I just watched the episode and I think that Jim was lying about being blind. JackJanetChrissy 07-24-2016, 12:45 PM I just watched the episode and I think that Jim was lying about being blind. Why do you think that? Anything in particular that stood out? DJM77 07-24-2016, 01:31 PM Why do you think that? Anything in particular that stood out? Hitting Jack twice, tearing up the apartment. I just think he seemed mean enough to fake being blind. opus 07-24-2016, 02:12 PM There is also something called being "legally blind" http://www.allaboutvision.com/lowvision/legally-blind.htm |
