"Modern Family" Recast Twist: Jay and Gloria's Son Getting "Rough and Tumble" Makeover in Season 7

"Modern Family" is giving Jay and Gloria’s young son a makeover in Season 7.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the ABC smash is recasting the now-series regular role of Joe Pritchett — played for the past two seasons by Pierce Wallace — with a slightly older actor.



A "Family" rep declined to comment, but I’m told producers are currently scouring Hollywood for a 4-year-old actor to portray Jay and Gloria’s newly “rough and tumble” son — AKA the ying to evolved older brother Manny’s yang.

This isn’t the first "Modern Family" kid to rapidly age between seasons. At the start of Season 3, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons assumed the role of Mitch and Cam’s daughter, Lily, from young twins Ella and Jaden Hiller.

There’s a new member of the Pritchett family. Jeremy Maguire has joined "Modern Family" Season 7 in a recasting for the role of Fulgencio “Joe” Pritchett.

His onscreen mom Sofia Vergara (Gloria) revealed the identity of the newest cast member in an Instagram post this morning. The role has been played for the past two seasons by Pierce Wallace.

Good casting.

I can't say Im ok with it since I normally hate the smart alecky kid syndrome, there's already Lily why do we need another kid?
