Janet said why: "Jack, you're in bigger trouble than you think. You're in love!". Being in love makes you do crazy things and, this time, Jack was really in love compared to all the times he previously thought he was in love.

That brings me a good question: Among all Jack's date (else than Vicky, of course), who was the one he was most in love with?

BTW, who are you? The real TVFactFan would have use the title "Would love to meet a girl like Vicky but..." If you're the real TVFactFan, I'm glad to know you're starting to write your titles like everyone else and not like attention-seeking "You gotta view my post for more" :)

He only proposed because he just watched Janet get married

Yeah, maybe the fact he was afraid of being alone had something to do with him proposing.

How was he alone, he just stated a new relationship with Vicky 3 weeks before Janet's wedding

He was old-fashioned and felt that if he was going to live with a lady he was romantically involved with then they should be married.

I know this seems silly now, but it wasn't so much at the time.

Yeah if done today Jack would've glady lived with Vicki without marriage, just the same in the episode where Joanna Kerns asks for Jack to father her kid but he refused because of being old fashioned, today in sitcoms all the horny guys would kill for a chance to sleep with a woman if they knew they didn't have to worry about child support.

That baby sh*t would have made me run out too LOL

The living together was cool but that baby sh*t was weird

I think that by addressing his old-fashionedness, the baby making ep showed us why he's a womanizer: he wanted someone who could break him down so he'd know who the right girl was. There was even one episode where Jack admitted he wanted to marry and have kids someday. When he saw how far he'd gone for Vicki, he decided that was it.

I don't agree. In the final scene, he's practically ditching Vicki in bed. Jack was always about the chase, and that wasn't broken down; in fact, when Vicki realized what was happening, she gave in and encouraged it. Like addressed above, there's also the matter if timing. It was right after Janet's wedding and Vicki had caught the bouquet. The mood was there, but it was because of circumstances. Plus, he latched onto her out of comfort on a turbulant flight, and she was looking to get away from her controlling father. I don't think it was fully real, but a matter of circumstance.

He seemed to get along well with Linda, but he didn't seem to LOVE her, per se. But they did go out for a while.

Most of Jack's relationships end badly. Either he gets dumped or he dumps her because she's mean to one of his friends.

He seemed very hung up on the older lady (the archeologist). In fact, that was the only woman we ever see him really charmed by. And their brief involvement doesn't end badly---she just leaves town because her visit is over.

That's funny, because Janet's best match seemed to be the older guy, too (in "Make Room for Daddy"). They seemed to have more chemistry than she and Philip, and Janet's savvy ways seemed more suited to an older fellow.

I ways thought David Ruprecht was stiff as an actor, especially when Philip and Janet ignored everybody else. Joyce stole that scene. That's why I couldn't get into them as a couple.

DR was great as a game show host, though!

I'm finding it more than a little ironic that we can't turn on the news anymore without headlines about legalization of gay & lesbian marriage, yet here's a thread talking about avoiding marriage in a relationship!

I'm not being judgemental here, but it's weird that we seem to have the two extremes: those who don't want anything to do with a ring, and those who will go to great lengths to get one!!

I want to say marry the woman, but you know that most marriages end in divorce anyway. So there's no easy answer.

I think the point of legalizing gay marriage is that everyone has the OPTION to get married. I'm sure there are plenty of LGBTQ folks who will opt out of marriage, too, but now they have the option to be miserable just like straight folks. :D

Yes, he was much more natural on Supermarket Sweep. I don't think he was cut out for a wide range of serious emotions that acting requires. His face is sort of stuck in that "I'M SMILING, DAMMIT" position, lol
