Wow :( Can't Buy Me Love is one of the greatest teen comedies of the 1980's. She was so good in that movie. Shame she never really did much acting after that. R.I.P. Amanda.

Checked Amanda Peterson's Wikipedia article and saw that her birthday was on July 8; Really, really close to her 44th birthday.

Patrick Dempsey has shared a touching remembrance of his late co-star Amanda Peterson, who was found dead in her home on Sunday.

"In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young. Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda's family," Dempsey tweeted on Tuesday evening.

Can't Buy Me Love was one of my favorite teen movies of the 80s. Amanda was Amazing as Cindy Mancini. She also did a small role in Explorers before CBML, with a very young Ethan Hawke and River Pheonix. Amanda has been missed already and now she will be mourned. R.I.P. Amanda Peterson.

When I heard this I was so saddened. I watched Can't Buy Me Love so many times and loved the movie. She was such a talented and beautiful young women. I still haven't heard the report of how she died and really I don't want to know. I want to remember her as Cindy Mancini.

I just watched this movie for the first time last week and really enjoyed it. Then I went online to look up information on the movie and was very sad to discover that Amanda Peterson had just recently passed away. :(

Can't Buy Me Love Star Cause of Death: Massive Overdose

Amanda Peterson, who starred in Can't Buy Me Love, died from an accidental overdose of a deadly combination of drugs.

The 43-year-old disappeared just before the 4th of July and her body was found on July 5th.





According to the Weld County Coroner in Colorado, Peterson had a variety of prescription drugs in her system, including benzodizepines (anti-anxiety meds), opiates and phenothiazines (an anti-psychotic medication). She also had marijuana in her system.

One of the drugs in her system -- Gabapentin -- was prescribed for pain and the medical examiner said she had 6 times the normal level in her system.

The report says Peterson was "naive to opiates."





The toxicology report says a week before her death she told someone she ingested morphine medication she got from friends. The reports says she was self-medicating to control pain.

As for why she died, the report says it was because of a "morphine effect" ... which causes respiratory failure.
